My path to beatboxing was basically exactly like his. Wasn't skilled enough with production software, I wanted to find a better way to produce what I was actually thinking up

As a fellow drummer, I can concur with the weird noises that come with it. With warmups with names like "dugga dugga burr", there are some weird things going on all the time during drumming

I would have loved to have them do this with Sam Perry and you would have really seen the difference in beatboxing
I can whistle up to a consistent 15kHz typically peaking at around 17kHz-18kHz My absolute max so far has been 20kHz.
I honestly think I could or possibly am going higher but I don’t have the tools to measure frequencies higher than 20kHz (even though my tool states it gets up to 22kHz)

Instead of just passing air through my lips and controlling the frequency with my tongue.
Only a very small amount of air gets through but that is all that is needed to make the whistle audible from 5-10m away.

Yes. Beatboxing is where a dude goes Pt PPPPRRRTT bttt cha bttt bloop”. Mostly a non talent until rap in the early 80s, it was commonly frowned upon to have people make such noises, as it was annoying. That should cover it.

Too bad Pneumonia ruined my ability to hit that world record... As before that, I could control my vocal chords to reproduce a sound similar to a dog whistle, and dogs would go bonkers whenever I did that.
Most people couldn't hear it, and the only reason why some people did know that it was happening was because of the dogs. 🤣 Or I had said something like "watch this" and by deduction they could infer from the dog's response that I had done something. 😂
So, sadly, all I have are memories of that ability... I can still reproduce it, but not with any reliability. 😅

That would likely be considered a tool that took the skill beyond human capability, and a disqualifier. If Guinness allowed such augmentation, people would constantly be changing goalposts and expecting to get the record.
