- Transmission fluid doesn’t need to be changed as frequently as motor oil, but it’s important to check it regularly. If your transmission fluid level is low or the fluid has started to break down, you may notice that your vehicle shifts poorly.
Running low can damage transmission components and lead to catastrophic failure and/or expensive repairs. Learn more in this video.

It's too bad so many manufacturers make it such a pain to check and change fluuds. No dip sticks on most makes/models, usually have to drop a pan to drain. They save maybe 50 bucks and a lot of people end up with cars that last have as long as they otherwiae might.
Folks there is no "Lifetime" fluid fill. Change your transmission fluid regularly and it will last forever. I keep all my vehicles to 300K miles (500,000km) and I have NEVER replaced a transmission. Clean fluid from regular changes is the key! ... Fluid is cheap, transmissions are not!
Agreed. I do mine with Amsoil every 75k miles and keep on trucking.
Very true ! Unfortunately, in today's automotive world, people want to change engine oil at 10k miles and probably never change automatic transmission fluid.
@@stevenroche9874 And this is why I don't buy used cars... Because of intervals set by OEM's that are too long and people doing the bare minimum.
@@CedroCron And these long oil change intervals are causing a lot of problems. I read about people not even checking engine oil level once a week. So they end up driving for thousands of miles two or more quarts low with a five quart sump. Lots of sludge and preventable engine wear, including timing chain failure on some engines.
@@stevenroche9874Yup, and plugged VVT Solenoids, cam and piston squirters with small jet holes. Worn chain guides and stretched chains... Oil is cheap engines are not!
