I mixed that same Amsoil atf in a Toyota/scion FRS with around 40k miles and shifting improved. (Did it twice at about a month difference to have mostly Amsoil in). Moved on to mix 5q Amsoil into a 2015 sienna trans with about 45k miles. It is working smoothly. Plan on keep adding Amsoil in the future. Did it many years ago on two other vehicles with great long term results.

You are correct about leaving a little dirty oil in the trans. I just watched a Toyota tech claim it was good to leave a little in because it’ll add a little friction fir the plates to grab😛😛
Unfortunately I was led to believe that my 3rd gen Tacoma could go 150,000 miles before the trans fluid needed changing. I felt that didn’t seem right. Today my truck was at 78,000 on its first fluid swap. It was dark and no surprise since I live in the so called mountains and carry a couple of tons in the truck bed driving up the mountain once a month.
Today I put in 3.5 quarts of Amsoil fuel signature series and bled the 1/2 quart out.
I noticed an immediate improvement. I’ll run this for one month and do a 3 quart drain and fill to get it close to mostly Amsoil and I’ll repeat this in another 10,000 miles.

Just changed my trans fluid with Amsoil CVT fluid in my 2019 Mitusbishi Outlander Sport GT 2.4 liter engine. Did a drain and fill @ 60k. I actually changed the cooler filter (paper one) and the under pan filter (metal) at 55k as my car is used and didn't know what was done to it. Anyway, after the change it's much quieter and smoother and I just changed the fluid 1k ago (OEM J4) when I replaced the filters. Next change in 30Ka with Amsoil!

I switched from Motor Craft oil to Amsoil oil and the truck got 1.2 miles per gallon more. I don't care about saving that small amount of gas but I think it`s better because I get that milage from less friction. Less friction means less wear on the engine.

Good stuff. I just got a Vibe (09 with 127k miles). The fluid is brown with a red hue still that turns purple after a long drive. Shifting is fine aside from some jerkiness when the fluid is cold.
I'm just surprised how many mechanics told me to let it be, because the history doesn't show any transmission fluid change. It seems that I'm maybe 10k miles away from having damage with the old fluid.

So next option would be a Service with my own fluid and a new transmission filter.
putting amsoil in it but doing this leaves 3.4 quarts in the torque converter.
Thus mixing 6 quarts of amsoil with OEM fluid.
So I bought 12 quarts. wonder if the Service guy will do it twice just to try and flush the torque converter of the OEM Fluid.

I'm torn on what to do. I understand the factory ATF fluid that came in my 2022 Tacoma is only semi-synthetic and not full synthetic. So I agree that it should make sense to change it to full synthetic ATF fluid like Amsoil. But.........there are some master diagnostic Toyota technicians that don't like the idea of mixing. (Doing a drain and fill and having some Amoils and some factory). Some say stick to only OEM fluid for drain and fills. But do you think they are wrong and they can mix? (not foam, etc).

They are wrong. I have shown in this video results from analysis of mixing Amsoil with ws. I been using Amsoil atf for almost 8 in my Toyota sequoia and Lexus es350. I keep my vehicle for long time.

I had a 2017 Honda Pilot, the dealership told me the same thing. You can't mix other transmission fluid, only Honda ATF-DW1. They would tell me 3X drain & fill and every time I drain the fluid was brownish. After 108K miles, I decided to switch to Amsoil Fuel-efficient tranny fluid. Almost immediately, I notice a smoother shift. After 300 miles, I notice that I was getting more MPG, was average 20.9mpg before and 22.2mpg after Amsoil. After a month, I check the fluid and it was still pinkish, never with ATF-DW1. I am a believer of Amsoil product now!
