  • In this video I take a look at motorized draw-stops and tab-stops. The idea is to explain exactly how they work so that we can see how to use them and understand why a special controller is needed to make them work with MIDI systems as Hauptwerk or Grand-Orgue.
    Apologies for bad audio during the screenshot section :-(
    I hope you find it helpful.

    Excellent explanation. I have a bunch of old draw-stops but gave up trying to build an organ some time ago. I started in the 70's with a Maplin design but technology keeps moving on and the latest plan is to use an FPGA.

    Where can one buy the actual draw stops? I see you have the controller for sale but not stops

    Great video, thank you Bob. I guess the principle is the same if one wants to operate lighted rabs?

    • @HauptwerkHardware
      @HauptwerkHardware  Před 2 lety +1

      Not quite. They are kind of the reverse case. The Lighted stops only need a light to go on with the Midi on signal and off again with the midi off signal. They don't need to be pulsed like the coils of the motorized stops. However they often have two contacts/switches - tilt the tab one way for on and the other way for off. Inactive in the centre position.
      I will be doing a video on lighted stops in the near future so be sure not to miss that one - Hope that helps. :-)

      These decoders are usually sold as stop controllers. You won't find a specific decoder for that purpose.

      @@HauptwerkHardware Thank you! Your stop controllers can support multiple stops, but over 24? Or must buy more? And the stops where can be bought?

    • @HauptwerkHardware

      @@TERUVFX There will be a new range of our products released in the autumn. This will contain stop controllers which can support upto 120 motorized stops in sections of 24 or 48 per interface. The stops can be bought from Kimber Allen. - www.kimberallen.co.uk
