- I went to Tom Simko's place and he took me ski plane flying from his private airstrip in the Idaho mountians. his airstrip is a difficult mountain airstrip to land and takeoff from. He takes me to a few local ski plane landing areas close to his airstrip hangar. he flys an experimental Rans S7 airplane with 2000 datum skiplane skis. Tom is a bush pilot and backcountry pilot.

That shot of snowboarding next to the kitfox taking off is insane! One of the coolest aviation or skiing videos ever! And the ending is the best entrance ever.
From.a low houred 172 pilot, you have no idea how inspirational these videos are.
Tom taught me to fly hang gliders way back in the 70’s. He is a good man. Miss those days.

Terrific video Jonas. Love to see the Inkom area from the sky. I used to Ski Patrol at Pebble and have skied down near Toms house (Bonneville Rd.) numerous times from South Bowl.

Wow, I almost quit towards the end when you were talking about landing on the snow because I just watched that other video you did on it. Glad I didn't or I would have missed the awesome parasking. The wind must have been perfect and you must be a parachute badass to pull that off.

You were right Jonas! This video was fun to watch! Old Capt Grey Beard/Tommy Simko looks great and you two look like you're having a blast! I've never seen Simko in Grey hair! Hahahaha.. We were both Pterodactyl pilots in 1981 having a blast with UltraLights. His Rans S7S is doing a fine job of keeping him flying. I have an S7 Long tail too. Great to see you guys flying off the snow and ripping up the day. Loved your shot with the parachute! Sure wish you hadn't thrown that fuel pump in the trash..... New one cost me $230 bucks!

Awesome video! If you want to get rid of the noise in your audio, plug your camera into a battery pack instead of ship power. Or get a sign wave inverter (expensive).

Im not sure what prop. but he does have the Hal stockmans big bore conversion. I believe the high compression 115hp.

@@bastogne315 Yes, believe so. Grazed under permit on public land in the summer, fed with hay otherwise. But I'm no rancher, and have been a vegetarian for 45+ years, so don't take my word for it! Ag is a huge part of our economy, and cows a re a big part of Ag.
