    I love shorts that don't leave a cliff hanger. It seems the non-Hollywood movies are the best. This had a beginning, a complete story and an end. Very well done with some great acting.

    The quality of this short movie is impressive! Good actors, and the story is really original! i love how the worms seems to embrace the character traits of their masters Noodle is brave in spite of his wounds, and Bouma is a coward like Marcel.

    Despite the obvious problems with animal fighting, the absence of blood-soaked vengeance separates this revenge story from most other modern such films. Well done. And the non-linear images fit together and work perfectly. Well done!

    Even though there was a "give away" as to what the Animal was, I was still blown away by it and the level artwork about it seeming perfectly natural both in the subtlety of the CGFX (which by and large is heavily overdone and relied upon in this era's cinema) and how practically it fit in this story. I didn't have to think about suspending disbelief. Great story, great acting, perfect amount and style of FX (practical and CG) and great editing as the crux and outcome of the story was not lost within any of these. I highly recommend for horror, science fiction, science fantasy, and fantasy 'proper' fans and just as importantly, students of CG as, in my opinion, this is "How to do CG the Right Way."

  • @SynthoidSounds

    Sci-fi short - comments by Jan
    Beware of spoilers!
    Animal by Fabrice Le Nezet
    Plot: environmental pollution topic from original perspective
    Negatives: I have found none
    Positives: 1) setting outside the western world; 2) storytelling using dialogues same as just exposition and action and with good gradation and good combination of action scenes and calm scenes; 3) some scenes had very good atmosphere (preparing for the battle, Marcel walking in corridors)
    Personal note: I like the unification of quite new topics like environmental pollution and new species with local culture and its traditional aspects. Definitely one of my favourite shorts!
    Summary: Original story worth of watching and liking; please, more of it!

    A fresh, new idea in sci-fi. I couldn’t see what was coming and THAT is saying something.
    The acting was good. The atmosphere seemed almost end of the world or apocalyptic. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a movie or a short that took place in all of Africa, except for South Africa, so it was great to see what another country on that continent had to offer.

    I guessed the mike I saw the extent of the cage in the beginning when he went to feed it that they were going to be some kind of animal used in fighting. What I don't get was when he took the mutated cephelapod to the woman was he giving it his blood or was he taking blood from it? For a minute there I thought that he was using the animals blood as some kind of "cure" for his bum leg. But that didn't seem to be the case. The one thing I didn't like about this was that in the end they kind of made Noodle out to be sort of Alien in nature when it was just a mutation. The way he changed at the very end causing the larger one to submit, it just conjured up thoughts of an alien creature rather than just one that had been mutated by pollution. Of course that's just my own interpretation of it.

    • @billyandrew
      @billyandrew Před 4 lety +4

      The mutation of Noodle, at the end, is supposed to be linked to the blood transfusion it received from it's owner...bad, vengeful blood, if you like.
