      It isn't over. The Islanders forcing game 7 in the conference final had me doubting the Lightning. Not over until it's over. One more game to go, cats could still pull it off. They look kind of silly right now, but they could still pull it off.

      I appreciate how much you guys love hockey down in Florida. You guys are an amazing team and I know things are tough right now, but there is one more game at home no matter who I route for (and I'm an old oilers fan), I feel bad for whoever doesn't win. Cause truth is - players & fans put 100% every night and it's an emotional roller coaster but despite teams being near evenly matched, only one can take the cup. I also think if Florida wins, it's not only great still for Edmonton cause they kept their dignity and tied the series and got Canada invested in returning the cup to Canada, but it's good for the sport to as Florida will probably be even more invested in enjoying hockey.

    I couldn’t agree more with your frustration. When I was 23, my wife and I bought into this new sport coming to Miami. I knew little about ice hockey. I attended the workshops the team held to teach new fans the game, and the hype events. I spent my hard earned money to buy season tickets for the inaugural year. I didn’t have great seats but I was there. I was 100% on fire for the team. Each year, I upgraded my seats, spending more and more. Then 1996 came. What a season! My favorite players were Paul Laus and Billy Lindsay. I had authentic jerseys for both. That season was so electric - but I didn’t know what I was witnessing. I kind of thought this was the norm. I went to game 4 of the Cup as we got swept. I was crushed… but I thought “we’ll get them next year!”
    Goddamn does “next year” turn into a long time! We were the definition of mediocre (at best). I watched as we traded my favorite players away and as new faces came in. I bought the merch and went to games until I moved out of state. Even then, every game in Detroit (moved to Kalamazoo) and Chicago, I was there, rooting for my Panthers! God it was painful to be laughed at by hockey fans.
    I now live in Vancouver, WA but I still go to every Panther game I can; against Kraken, Detroit, Chicago and random games during the year. I pay for NHL Center Ice so I can watch every Panther game, which I do! I tape them when I’m working.
    I went to Vegas for Stanley Cup game 2 and endured watching us play like a team that was out of gas. I was just so happy to finally be a relevant team again. This season, I actually flew back home to Ft Lauderdale to see several games, including game 5 of the Cup.
    I say all of this to lay the foundation that I am NOT a new fan jumping on the bandwagon. I feel your words like they are my own. Diehard fans, who have been thru so much shit with this team, we deserve better than the way this is going down.
    I’ve never seen a complete turnaround like this; it was two weeks ago that we were on cloud 9 as we were shocking everyone in the NHL world with a 3-0 lead. All we needed was one more. But you could feel the winds of change even then; we were winning games we didn’t really fully control. We got lucky. This series could easily be over already.
    Panthers fans went from a place where we thought finally, we would be able to see our team raise the cup. Finally, all the suffering as a fan was worth it. One more game to win and my bucket list would have an item removed.
    It seems like this isn’t meant to be. In two weeks, we went from being such a confident group to guys that look defeated and deflated. They don’t even know what to say. No words. Only Maurice has banter for us. Sometimes it’s funny. He has made me feel better at times, the way he downplays the disaster around us. But I’m 100% with you; I’m done with the bullshit cutesy comments. I’m so angry at the lack of adjustments and seriousness about getting back on track. Now Bob looks broken… we should have started Stolarz tonight!!
    I have no choice but to watch this shit show completely burn down. If they win,,,, I feel like they have tarnished their reputation with how they gave up 3 games. Trust me, I’ll still take the Cup but how we win does mean something.
    You aren’t alone. I understand the passion for this team and the frustration as we watch opportunities slip by. Thanks for the video and good luck with the dog…🙏❤️⛸️🏒🥅

      Thanks Hawk I appreciate all of that. Worst part for me is I have brought both my sons along for the ride, and even Kyle is at a point of having to hold in his massive frustration so we don't upset the dog. I obviously hope we win, but I am thankful that by Tuesday morning it will all be over. Dog woke up today and could still walk( barely) but went potty and ate, is resting comfortably, so I will continue to give him time to go on his own. Best case is they win the cup Monday night and he doesn't wake up Tuesday morning. Just brutal, but I would take that ending.

      I've only been watching a short time but it definitely sucks you in fast and furious. I feel like even if they won, it's a bittersweet win just because for me, I'm so deflated already that I don't feel like I could really enjoy it anymore. At least Verheage admitted that the Oilers are more hungry than them and Kuli you can tell is just over it. Barky too. Their interviews to me are showing more of what we're seeing. The devastation. They had all the fans, hype, and focus according them since training camp, and yet they are coming up short. It's like if ya'll can't do it with these guys this year, is it ever gonna happen? I hope they pull it out but it doesn't look like they're actually trying to change anything of their play. The Oilers changed a little after game 3. I don't think the Cats did. Fingers crossed for Monday but I'm not confident. For me my anxiety is pretty high and I don't handle this type of stuff well so mentally it's hard for me even though it is just a game and doesn't change my life really. I really thought they were gonna take this.

      @@Itsmeoverhere I genuinely feel like if they blow game 7, Zito will have no choice but to blow this thing up, if for no other reason other than to take the bad taste away (as best he can). I do not know how you roster the same team next year if you basically did EXACTLY what you set out to do at the end of last season's cup loss and then choked at the very end and missed out on all you had right in your grasp. I don't know how they can say that the Oilers are "more hungry".... That is shameful. I see a very long and dark offseason for the Panthers if they cant find a way to muster ONE more win.

Animals have a truly special way of making life worth living. I've been blessed to have a few pets like Fluffy is to you; animals that take the pains of life and make them more tolerable. I'm sorry that you are having to go through this and sadly, the Panthers are just adding to the pain. @carl-johanfougstedt199 Před 2 měsíci +19

    The Panthers need more support from their fanbase than ever before. I don´t know what it would help if Maurice lost his calm and showed publicly that he´s desperate. Zito throwing a water bottle shows passion but it doesn´t fix anything. I think it´s totally inexcusable for the fanbase to have a funeral for their team before the season is over. The team can´t think that they are going to humiliate themselves in the worst possible hockey way. They have to focus on the possibility. Thinking about the next game as Game Seven gets the thoughts to the possibilty of reverse sweep, but thinking of the next game as an unique chance on home ice, like a hockey Super Bowl, puts things in right perspective. We have to remember that also the Oilers are going to feel pressure now. If they lose, their remarkable comeback from 0-3 to 3-3 will be worth absolutely nothing. The Panthers are in a difficult position but they are not in an impossible position. I think that it´s crucial to get the first goal in the next game and light the home arena on fire. Alternatively they have to play very safe zero-zero for as long as possible and capitalize on some mistake that Kulak, Ceci or Nurse will do sooner or later. The momentum has changed once in this series. It can change once again.

    • @pursuitoftruth6774
      @pursuitoftruth6774 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Wrong, the Oilers comeback whether they win or lose means everything because they made it a series when they should have been swept, plus, Oilers have had adversity being 31st place and being down against Vancouver and Dallas, Panthers havent had that adversity yet. Panthers have all the pressure, its their game to lose. It is an absolute miracle that the Oilers are where they are right now, cant say the same for the Panthers.

    • @carl-johanfougstedt199
      @carl-johanfougstedt199 Před 2 měsíci

      @@pursuitoftruth6774 I both agree and disagree with you. It´s absolutely true that the Oilers have made this a historical series no matter how it ends. On the other hand if they lose, it might be the closest this franchise ever comes winning a Stanley Cup. Imagine if McDavid never gets his Cup. To be fair I honestly don´t think that this Panthers franchise would bounce back from a loss in Game Seven either. It´s the same outcome for both team franchises but for different reasons. The Oilers are overachieving at the moment with their rookie head coach. The Oilers will never be frontrunners for the Cup, but this year they could ride on their momentum. The Panthers have another problem. They have all the right pieces to win right now and if they do, they might win again. But if they lose, I don´t see how they can find any confidence to win in the future when they´ve lost two years in the row in the Finals. Sure McDavid could have another hot streak with his team when he´s 35 or something and he could have his late Cup in the same way as let´s say Teemu Selänne and Aleksander Ovetshkin, but in any case he doesn´t get many opportunities. Of course the same goes for Draisatl and everybody else from the Oilers, but If the best player in the world never wins the Cup, is he still the best player?

    They not going to let a small market team win the finals unless they can pull every penny out of this. I said that on my last comments when the series was 3-1. Now that they can't milk it any longer Florida can win but they want to promote Connor McDavid as a Tom Brady of the NHL. Im sure the skating in mud will finally go away for Florida in game 7.

    I’m a Panthers fan but also a Falcons fan. I’ve seen what this kind of collapse looks like and how it affects the franchise and fanbase in general and honestly, it’s not good. It’s even worse for the Panthers since they are starting to build a fanbase right now. Lose this series and they will lose that fanbase. Much like the Falcons did. No one will show up to game and no one will be excited for upcoming seasons. And how? How do you get excited when your team was on the verge of winning their first championship and blew it. It makes it feel like no matter what they do, they will never obtain the ultimate prize.
    Idk if I can get myself to watch game 7. It helps that I also have a hockey game that night and can play in that. I just, I can’t watch another one of my teams go through that again.

      I don't see this potential loss making the fans not become Cats fans. The Cats have won three Eastern Conference Finals in their history. I do believe in momentum, and I also do believe that it's destiny and the team of destiny isn't FLA, but EDM, and not because they haven't won it all since 1990, but Canada hasn't won it all in 1993, over 30 years. Finally EDM, with 1.5 million people, is a small market while FLA has over 6 million people in it's metro area, making FLA one of the larger hockey markets. A win from EDM would be a major boost for small markets such as EDM, CGY, WPG, and small markets here such as BUF.
      The NHL has tried to force feed hockey into Sun Belt cities such as Atlanta and Phoenix with no success. IMHO, the Coyotes should've moved to Quebec, just because Quebec can and will support a team since ice hockey is Canada's pastime, but the league moved it to Utah, which is a more favorable climate for ice hockey than Phoenix. We'll see how successful Utah goes! But as for the FLA fanbase, if they lose, it's not going to severely affect the fan base to the point where the Cats have to move out of South FL. It will be painful, but South FL is a major market, and keeping a team in South FL means big bucks, as opposed to trying to force a team in uninterested markets like Atlanta, Phoenix, and Raleigh!

    @smftv Před 2 měsíci +2

    That was brutal from the start. I was really hoping that the momentum and energy they had in the 3rd period of game 5 would carry over, that was us playing to our identity; that's how we won the 1st three games, but you have to play that way for 60 minutes (or longer, if that's what it takes). The script has been reversed. In the 1st three games, Bob was bob and we had legs. We were healthy, fresh, fast and better conditioned. Now, it's Edmonton that is fresh and fast and they're playing like sharks who smell blood in the water because it's been do or die for them the last three games. They have a lot to play for; their country, their potential (last chance for a cup players) and 1st cup for their star whose never won. They have fought to come back in this series, and they deserve this game 7, but we need to end their little run. We have the same reasons to want to win (and more). We need to believe that we're the better team because we have been all year and we've played against and beaten the best of the best in the playoffs to get here, but there's only one way to prove that we're the best... and that's to beat the last team standing with any hope of winning. We have what it takes to win... Get that fire back in your bellies, and we'll be the last team standing!
    Metaphorically speaking: If the Panthers don't write their fairy-tale ending (the one they deserve; the one they've worked so hard all year long for and 30 years in total) ... Then they're gonna be reading someone else's book and they're going to be the character that doesn't get the girl. We've all read that book, and it sucks.
    I think the Panthers really need a mental health day, a day with family and friends (away from hockey) just to get out of their own heads. Physical fitness starts in the mind.
    This ends in 2 ways.
    1. Oilers win and the story is: "The greatest comeback in NHL history". F*CK THAT!
    or
    2. Panthers win and the story is: "In one of the greatest 7 game series in NHL history, where the Florida Panthers had never won a Stanley Cup in their 30 year franchise, comes out to a 3 - 0 lead in the series, completely shutting down the best player since the great Wayne Gretzky. One win away from a 30 year dream... they're unstoppable! And just when you thought the series was over; the Oilers finally figured out the Panthers and embarrass them in game 4. It was just one game though, and Florida is still one win away from being crowned The 2024 Stanley Cup Champions. Momentum, still on their side; the odds ever in their favor. Then they lose game 5 at home, confidence waivers, followed by another lackluster effort in game 6, pushing them to the brink of an all time collapse. The Florida Panthers... With their backs up against the wall, in a now or never game 7 against a team that has steamrolled them after being down by 3 games in this series themselves, carry with them all of the momentum needed to win the Stanley Cup in hostile territory. It's been a battle for the ages; a roller-coaster ride of a series... The Panthers go up, then come crashing down, but what happens on a roller-coaster? When you're at your lowest... the ride climbs once more. The past is the past and with grit, determination and an infallible sense of self; the Florida Panthers overshadow their doubters, bloodied and bruised; they are victorious! The Panthers win one of the most difficult trophies in league sports and against the toughest of opponents and fan-bases. It took 30 years and a lot of hard fought battles to finally win this seasonal war, but the 2024 Florida Panthers are the undisputed Stanley Cup Champions!
    That's the story I want to read, so get the rats ready!

    Just want to say, I'm an oiler's fan, going back to the 80 (yup pushing 57) was in the colisum when they lifted one of their cups. You have the same passion for your team that I have for mine, and I could NEVER fault anyone for that. My heart was broken in 2006, and I KNOW game 7 is not decided it's going to be a tough game either way. Having said that, what has touched me is your compassion, your heartbreak over fluffy. I lost my girl scarlet (doberman) last month, my heart is going out to you and fluffy, it hurts when you losse your best friend, and even worse when you have to make that decision . I'm so sorry

    This sucks I know. More than anything this really sucks. It’s very easy to be negative right now, we are playing like dogshit and the clock seems to be inching closer and closer to midnight. But we got one more game. One more. It’s going to take everything and then some to overcome the situation we’ve put ourselves in, it would be ENORMOUSLY impressive if these guys can mentally overcome the voices in their head, the pressure, the media, literally everything, and go win this thing. These guys need us now more than ever. It’s easy to be passionate and loud when we’re winning. We need that building to be rocking on Monday. Leave it all out there so there are no excuses. Everyone who has a ticket to that game need to leave without a voice no matter what happens, anything less is unacceptable from a south Florida sports fan. And I’m not talking about our cringe fanbase that doesn’t know hockey and is only their because they have money that thinks we’re being loud and exciting and cool, nah F that. We have been outclassed by every fanbase in each round of these playoffs so far, I get it’s tough matching up against original 6 fan bases, but we can at least try. Everyone on their feet, everyone screaming the whole game, we need to get behind these guys now more than ever. The entire city of Fort Lauderdale. It’s us against the world now, everyone thinks we’re going to lose. Maurice’s ass in on the line here, Bennett, Verhaeghe, Barkov, Verhaeghe Reinhart, Tkachuk, your ass is on the line, Bill Zito your ass is on the line. It’s time we give the NHL world a nice big ole shit burger to eat.

    I think if the Panthers want to win, they need to shut out all the external noise and internal pressure. They've played great for most of the playoffs and I think some of the players have become their own worst enemy by overthinking. Unlike the games running up, this is for the Stanley Cup this time, and Oilers are going to Oiler, but it's not the Oilers they're fighting, it's their own mental doubts and fears.

    Their inability to adjust from their forechecking system has caused them to lose three straight. They need to watch film on games that have neutralized the oilers rush offense, particularly how a trapping scheme can completely erase Edmontons offense. Florida tires themselves out by constantly hunting for pucks, and their system opens them up to odd man rushes that normally Bob does save in the regular season and earlier this postseason. They gotta shake up their structure for game 7 or they're toast. Trap to start the game and slow it down to a crawl, it'll frustrate Edmonton and puts pressure on them to force plays which can lead to opportunities for Florida to score. Florida needs to play a much more patient game.

Hang in there dude I really believe we can still pull this off. Take care of yourself brother and your dog as well. Sending good wishes from Southwest FL

    Florida is about to do what no NHL team has done since the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs & that's blow a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals. They are not the same team we saw in the 1st 3 games & throughout the playoffs. They are completely spent. The Stanley Cup playoffs are an endurance test & Florida has hit the wall. They’ve been out scored 18-5 the past 3 games & just look exhausted.
    Unless they find something, anything, for game 7 Edmonton is going to steamroll them.

    It happens man, from a Canadian... hockey is unpredictable. Just like life is unpredictable, and we never know how our health or the health of our loved ones will be. Life is a struggle of suffering and paradise. Create the paradise you seek. Amen!

    I feel like if Florida won in 96, they would have taken the Avs trajectory and won 3 or so cups by now, and not lost in the finals 2-4 times now, whatever it's been.
    And as an Avs Fan, I couldn't be happier about it.

      Yeah I agree I put my cat down a few years ago 2 days before my birthday I really wanted her to live until my birthday because we both actually share the same birthday and my parents got her just after I turned 1 so she was was with me for nearly 20 years. But I knew I had to lie her down she could barely breath and walk and I didn’t want her to suffer any longer than she needed to.

      I do not entirely disagree but it's not totally that simple. He can still walk some and still eats, drinks and can go potty. He sleeps most of the day and as long as I am sitting with him off & on he is ok. The situation is complicated by the fact that where we live, we cannot just call a vet and have them show up a few hours later, they all need about 2 days notice, so by now if we called he would be put down Monday right before the game, which is something I am obviously trying to avoid, mainly for Kyle who is not quite ready. I've had to put 4 dogs to sleep, and Ellie went in March on her own.
      To give an idea of the dilemma , he woke up today, walked outside , peed and then laid down. I can't have him outside for very long because of this heat wave. Long story short after about 20 minutes of trying to get him to come in, and seeing that he was not gonna poop, I went inside to get him some extra water and thought "Ok that's it I am calling the vet". When I came back, he had gotten up on his own, barked at me when he saw me as if to say " screw you and the vet", pooped and then came in. I kept saying I would give him time if he was eating, walking and pooping, so I feel like I should keep my word that way. It's just brutal man, but we are trying to gut it out, but I understand your suggestion as well. I feel like no matter what I am making the wrong decision.

    Rangers fan here. I love your channel I love your passion I love your commitment I love your agony all things that I felt in the last series in the Eastern conference finals. This is less about Florida collapsing and more about McDavid rising to the occasion. He is in my opinion and I'm a huge Wayne Gretzky fan the greatest hockey player of all time. By the time he's done he'll have all of Gretzky's records unless some type of injury sidelines him. It's hard to not buy into this team of destiny with how they started the season The coaching change the 16 in a row it's an amazing story.
    I do have a question for you do you think if Florida loses Monday Paul Maurice loses his job?

    • @flyingfluffyhockey
      @flyingfluffyhockey  Před 2 měsíci +2

      I doubt it, the owners and previous owners went through coaches like cough drops and I think they are in it for stability now. Will Maurice WANT to keep coaching is the question, like how would he convince players to believe after a reverse sweep?
