  • Years after I last filmed it, Redwood City Car Wash received another round of equipment upgrades. They added ArmorAll Ceramic Seal to their menu, removed the Sidewinders and installed both LSWs and FSWs, and replaced the old Worldwide flash dryer with a Belanger AirCannon. Redwood City continues to operate as they have since 2016, with prep and towel drying included with every wash and interior cleaning also available.

    Was this the first ever wash you worked at? If so, how was the work environment?

      Yes, I worked at Redwood City Car Wash years ago. I don't think I could have found a better employer to start my career in the car wash industry with in that market.

    It would be cool to see a tunnel with some MacNeil super flex 701s and the Belanger Quick fire crossovers. Who cleans the back better?

      AVW or Peco exit facing wraps should beat both, especially at fast chain speeds. It is very rare I find 701s or Quickfires that are dialed in properly.

    I noticed the side winders are running dry (no water spraying of them). I wonder what that weird looking thing on the top winder motor thats sticking out and spinning is. Tunnel looks like it needs some maintenance. Still a nice system though.

      Disabling brush lube manifolds can help improve surface lubricity from your lube soap foamer applications. The spinning piece exposed on the motor is a fan to keep the motor cool.

      @@SFCarWashChannel oh ok, makes sense.

      @@SFCarWashChannel ...but come to think of it. I know closed cell foam does not hold dirt. But it can still stay on the surface of the material unless its rinsed off with water. But since there is no water rinsing off the brush......I know non of this is perfect lol

    • @SFCarWashChannel
      @SFCarWashChannel  Před rokem +1

      Even without the brush lube manifolds enabled, the brush still flings contaminants off the car. All that lube soap being flung off the material contains the broken down contaminants that are being removed from the vehicle's surface.

      @@SFCarWashChannel I would not say all, because I still see alot staying on the brush. But again nothings perfect. Wish Spinlite LEDS would last longer. Looks cool when they all are working.

    RIP paint

      Contrary to popular belief, the materials used in modern automatic car washes (including this one) are perfectly safe for the clear coat. With each rotation contaminants are flung and/or rinsed off the material.
