- čas přidán 14. 11. 2017
- Today we're doing the top five amazing emergency landings (from a point of view perspective). Most of these planes are small single-engine aircraft such as the Cessna and other private aircraft. All pilots involved managed to escape unharmed. Please let us know in the comments below some of your top five video ideas relating to air travel or airplanes in general.

That last landing was something. Not only that he landed safely put he "parked" the plane of the road next to that building. That is one emergency landing with "class".
Duhh, he has a skyranger
Not to mention the guy fucking apologized for something completely out of his control after nailing an emergency landing on a freeway lol
ı was thinking it also
Yeah, if it weren't for the fact that he really didn't mean to, it really looked like he planed to land AND PARK there.
I think he was still in training and the guy to the left was the teacher.

Oh my I know the first pilot (#5). That is our flight school's plane 9501W.
He did excellent job, he was a student pilot at the time of incident and just started soloing.
He handled the emergency like a PRO.
Thanks to his great landing the FAA was able to bench test the engine and determined that the particular engine had a defect with the fuel float ball, which also caused other Cessna with the same type of engine to quit at a particle angle during take off climb.

If you think about it gliders basically make an emergency landing every time... 🤔
That's why their stick control is much better than regular pilots who learn on a Cessna! I've flown gliders and you learn the basics much more effectively when there's no engine to get you out of trouble (except when there's a failure like these vids)
that's why they are better pilots
True that! He was home free except for the damn mailbox!!
Mr60610 that was all pilot error. If you can’t land at an airport in a glider you failed.
Gliders routinely make emergency landings, I bet you every glider pilot has had to make one before

In aviation terms, a smooth landing is called "buttering the runway". In this case, he buttered the freeway. =P

The last clip was of a plane from my area. I remember that landing making the news. Great piece of flying!
1:39 (golfer) "should I take my shot first or go check if the pilot who just crashed into a fence beside me is ok?"
They're weren't checking to see if he was okay. They were probably waiting for him to get out so they could bitch at him and complain.
The plane landed on his ball, and he wanted a free drop.
Every landing where Pilots and Passengers can walk away from is a good landing.
A perfect landing is when you can still use the plane afterwards.
Can we disagree? Landing smoothly at the wrong airfield, say a restricted military one instead of a civilian one is definitely neither a good or a perfect landing.
that makes me wonder what policies there are for civilian craft needing emergency landing clearance for military airfields
What if they killed 100 people on the ground? Still a perfect landing?
If you do an emergency landing on a military airfield, you were already in a restricted flight area.
So either you were in the wrong to begin with, either you got clearance to proceed with your landing.
technically yes but with collateral damage
I imagine what were the golfers thinking, we can see one that is totally bugged when he is in the fence, lmao, great pilot.
ProDjMx He didn't even ask to play through...
A great pilot would have chosen a field that was free from people, at greater height. Always know where to land, and chose a field that you can do a full downwind-base-final approach at.
Robert Lindhé you gonna fly a downwind, base and final with no engine? 👌
OLGMC That’s what glider pilots (should) do normally, at their own field, and certainly in an outlanding. If you don’t know where to land at all times, you do have bad planning. If you know where to land at all times, you should be able to do a full approach - including downwind - even with most planes glide ratio. Of course height is one’s friend, and of course there are exceptions, even for gliders, for instance tow rope cut off at low altitude, and even then they know where to land (straight ahead, 180° and land in opposite direction of start, or a full approach, in that order). Powered flight pilots, most of the time, seem to rely too much that their engines shuld fix their problems at landing. The engine is the last resource at every landing. That’s why it is called *glide* slope. Know your app. glide ratio (at least idle engine), and you will know what height you need for a full approach.
This is most important if you land in a unknown field, that’s not an airport. What obstacles are there? Power lines? People? Small rocks? Fences? High crops? Ditches? Most of those things can be missed if one just do a last minute final, and sloppy pilots will know this, when they have misjudged their outlanding feild (glider pilots too).
Always land at the biggest obstacle-free field you can find. Avoid roads as long as it is possible.
Robert Lindhé Your explanation is true... when this pilot was enroute with plenty of fields to choose from at a comfortable altitude. For all we know this happened right after take off or during his approach. Looking through his windows you immediately see that the area is a dens populated one full of trees, buildings, mountains in the distance, etc. He saw a big open field and went for it. At those low altitudes there is no time to fly a perfect downwind, base and final, you just want to get yourself to safety. He did an excellent so there is no need for your “a good pilot would do this...” nonsense. When you get an engine failure in your career and fly your downwind base and final perfectly... that’s when you are allowed to judge a fellow pilot in trouble.
"Honey did you throw out an airplane? Theres an airplane with the trash by the curb.."
These guys keep so calm.I will S&it myself. The last guy is very lucky ,no traffic in his way.Could have been much worst.I like the part he parks the plane.Amazing.

That last guy in particular really nailed that landing
Fantastic displays of keeping control under pressure.
You could hear the panic in #4 but he still managed to get it on the ground.
You can feel the fear on the second guy through your ears
You can tell he never experienced that before
It's not a very common experience, and he was in almost the worst possible place for that to happen, too low, over woods. Hitting those trees in that aircraft would have been an almost guaranteed death, and he was right to be terrified, since his landing field was not in gliding distance. Had his engine failed completely, he would have very likely died.
@MillionFoul Actually landings in woods are more survivable than you'd think. Trees absorb a lot of energy.
It depends on a lot of factors. As a mountain pilot, I know how to try and select the best trees to hit if you have to, but it doesn't change the fact that treetops tend to slow you down, trunks tend to stop you suddenly, and then you have to contend with the fall to the ground and quite possibly a fire. The chances are not good.
Martin Laubner yea but if the trees are that close to each other theres about 9% chance of surviving that
did you know that 73.7% of all statistics are made up? lol
First pilot was a student at the time, on a solo flight. The airport is literally another 300-400 feet away, on the other side of the driving range in Concord, CA. His engine quit immediately after takeoff.
czcams.com/video/RxbgRlr2m1o/video.html Also, surprised this wasn't on the list. CFI is a badass.
Why does engines top working like that?
Arent aircraft engines inspected regularly? Or it was his fuck up?
funny, I grew up in concord and used to fly outta there. I didn't realize that was CCR until your comment.
Even with very regular and thorough inspections, mechanical failures can happen. If you watch his video, he goes into pretty good detail about what failed - I believe it was a fuel switch or fuel regulator. This is even under the best possible conditions. Part of getting your private pilot certificate is how you react during aircraft failures: you always have to be ready just in case.

@@jimmybob5541 right. That's why there were countless "big" plane crashes before 2005. LOL just kidding, he'll be fine thanks to technology.
@@OneSquidOneBike Yeah planes are way way safer than cars he'll be completely ok
I've experienced a partial engine failure after takeoff and I can tell you the pucker factor is insane. I had no option but to go between two trees with their upper limbs strapping the fuselage trying to stay in the air. I was able to get to 200 ft AGL and bring it around for a landing. Lesson here is ALWAYS fly the acft, don't let it fly you.
Ditto. I made it to 600ft when it rolled back. Was surrounded by a forest on all sides but saw a field about 3/4 mile away that I hoped I could make. Thankfully the engine restarted and I could limp it back to the runway. The most surprising thing was the 1-2 seconds of how confused my brain was in disbelief and staring at the throttle in my hand trying to understand why the engine has stopped when the throttle was full in.
Had two failures, one on the taxiway (fuel contamination), one on the runway (magneto problems - BOTH magnetos). The runway incident was right at the start of the takeoff run - so I had the whole strip to stop. Never (well, so far never) had a powerplant failure on takeoff, or in flight (for which I'm VERY thankful!)
I think that's why airliners go up hard. That way they always have enough energy to return.
Kathryn Slye I have Cessna 340
#4 video is actually used by the FAA safety team, in an AMT training video on proper ground testing of engines after repair in order to prevent failures in flight.
Wow! Incredible those emergency landings, how the pilots led the situation. Clap for them! And for all the pilots too :)

I was wondering what that was with such a small glimpse - At first I thought it was a Fockewulf with the sharp edged windows and shape of the short glimpse of the outside.

Federico Perez Doesn't look even close. It does look like a Yak-50, though. Frankly, I didn't get a very good look at it. Caught a glimpse very briefly.
My house growing up was at the end of a small airport runway. The only thing separating my front yard and the edge of the runway was a man-made ravine that supported a railroad track.
Over the years we had seen several emergency landings (probably dozens we didn’t even know of)
There’s been 3 major crashes , the worst was when a jet had severe engine failure and he could keep the plane level so he was coming in for an EL on his side and his wing clipped our roof and front dining room and bounced into our front driveway and destroying my dads truck. Very sadly, the Pilot would pass away on impact. Nobody else was on board.
The impacting wing broke off and stuck into the roofs edge like it was a shark fin
That was a crazy day, sometime in 1993 . When a reporter asked my mom if she had ever worried about planes crashing into the house. She replies “not at all, [I am ] more worried about the increase of dangerous traffic around town with tons of accidents , heavy volumes and risky young drivers breaking rules and speed to get ahead.
9:50
"errr yeah can I get a quarter ponder meal and a big mac please?"
"sir you cant bring a plane though the drive thru"
Number 1 was beautifully executed
My dad once had to do an emergency landing on a golf course. The engine oil plug was not safety wired and ended up coming out. He landed safely and the plane was taken out on a trailer, engine was replaced, and the plane was back to flying. The plane stopped just short of the trees which would have most likely totaled the aircraft.
Of course I loved the video, no one was killed.

The glider was extremely lucky for geetting such a nice strip of road with no poles/tree around for so long, they have wide wingspan and not that good for road emergency landing. The last one was rather lucky for minimum traffic on his side of road, but it was rather good landing. Not sure what was with his engine though since it seemed to somewhat work at times.
Was most likely a light sport plane with a rotax or similar high revving engine (almost sounded 2 stroke to me) as opposed to the slower spinning flat 4s/6s in piston GE aircraft.
