- During the process of creating patches for RE-STRINGS Rack Extension, we talked with Billy Currie about his use of String Ensemble keyboards over the years and how the Elka Rhapsody and Yamaha SS-30 contributed to some of Ultravox's classic tracks.
Billy also talks about how valuable the VSM and RE-STRINGS libraries are to him and how they've been used in his latest album, Doppel. - Hudba
Billy Currie will be one of the most influential musicians in my childhood - with Ultravox, Numan and Visage.
Bill is a genius and a legend.
Billy seems a very soft spoken and humble man for a keyboard genius lets be honest the man is amazing!
Absolute legend. Had a few beers with Billy after a Wang Chung, Alan Darby gig at the Marquee.
Remarkable individual devoted to his craft and producing musical joy for us all. Thank you Billy.
What an Amazing guy (and a Northern Lad), he made the sound of ; Ultravox (both versions) , Visage, and Gary Numan's Pleasure Principle LP and tour! Fabulous Musician! dx
So good to hear Billy reminisce over some of his contributions to some amazing albums! Such a modest man, despite having created a unique body of work, and despite many attempts never truly emulated by others...he definitely has the touch of a true maestro.
Pan Billy Currie to geniusz muzyczny.❤❤😊
Thank you for all the wonderful years of music.
Much appreciated Kate. 👱♀️🎸🎶🎹
Billy's ARP Odyssey solo 1979 Tubeway Army: 'On Broadway' makes me cry every time, just gorgeous.
Me too!
SO HUGE and it sends me to brand new and faraway places or moments I’ve never been. 🌹
Greatest synth solo ever!
I met the other three members of the later Ultravox back stage at a concert. Still gutted I didn’t meet Billy Currie
Wow. That's an amazing collection of classic synths! Nice insights, thank you for sharing :)
The glass of water perched precariously close to that CS80 makes me nervous
billy currie in my opinion, the best synth player EVER
Bowie and P Funk made the Solina work. That darker and thinner tone really worked with that music.
one of the great artists, great band, great music...
Fade to Grey was the first record I ever bought. Thanks Billy.
Bill is such an inspiration
Great to hear from the Masters!
Lovely bloke. So unpretentious. Bet you could bump into him in the pub and not realise who he was.
Very unassuming and wonderful musician. Thanks for the video.
He is encrusted with wisdom from years of using the many tools of the trade and knows what works for him and what doesn’t. Peace Christo
Great interview, been an Ultravox fan since the first album and was gutted when John Foxx left. I got over it though and went on to see them over 30 times, the first time at the Edinburgh Odeon the night John Lennon got shot. Also saw Billy play with Gary Numan at the Glasgow Apollo in 1979, great times, thanks Billy.
So cool!
I live in Arizona and saw the Vienna tour in a club in Tempe near Phoenix.
I was right in front of Currie, he and the band absolutely blew me away. I’ve seen thousands over the years, all styles, all genres...Ultravox still one of the greatest.
I’m a huge Numan fan as well. Saw his LA show 1983 and again in Tempe circa 1997 or so.
Great photos...thanks for sharing.
The Ascent is a beatiful piece of music and sounds darn powerful
Wish I had a ounce of your talent.
love this guy!
Accent on youth/the accent great track from RIE!
We really need a big biography of the great billy curry, I know he wouldn't like it but, the music with tubeway army, Gary new man, ultra vox & midge ure , he lived just down our street,
Billie Currie and Alan Wilder. Just picture them creating music together.
A trio with Paul Humphrey's from OMD would be amazing!
Nice touch with the OSCar! :D Time to give Re-Strings a try
Interesting comments in there. Vienna is still one of my favourite albums. My favourite track is Astradyne - I've got an entire video in my head featuring an Aston Martin V8 Vantage in dark rainy weather.
Thank you for this very enjoyable video. I like it a lot.
Respect. Such insight
Bloody look at the keys!! Amazing!

I been around with synths since 1984 my first was a JX3P.. String machines i never tried.. It is old instrument and the do not sounds like cellos or violins at all.
Still they can have a place in the mix..
I think i buy the Restring app.
Happy
Strange how he never got into the Mellotron and Novotron?
