Are Sneakers Dying Out In 2024?

- I’ve heard so many people saying the sneaker scene is stale or even that sneakers are dying out recently! Sneakers channels have been saying their views are at an all-time low and everyone seems a little unsure where sneakers are headed at the moment, so I wanted to talk about it.
I also asked you guys in a previous video to let me know what you think will happen with sneakers this year and I’m going to share the results of which sneakers you thought would dominate 2024!
Will it be the Adidas Samba, or will something else take its place this year?

Everything from the video is linked in the description box. Thanks for watching and have an absolutely wonderful day! 🤟❤️
sneakers are dying out due to the corporate greed from scumbag companies like nike.
I loved the music from the Q&A recently. Could you recommend an album every vid? 😅
It's all about the Adidas Superstars and the Puma Suede classics
you missed feiyue
If sneakers dying means no more "cheap shoes" costing thousands of dollars just for the "hype" I’m totally fine with it
🤟
Perfect response
Best response.
And the same jordan 1 with different color
Agreed and would love to see HH discuss some more sustainable options (everlane, thursday boot, etc)
Sneakers are dying? Good. It's the perfect time for me to get into sneakers because they will be cheaper than their current prices.
100 percent, sneakers 'dying' means resellers won't have any business charging $200-$300 above retail just because a pair is trending
yeah my off white went from 560 to 390. i’m happy with it
Saying sneakers will die out is like saying t-shirts will die out, and frankly what a ridiculous idea for those who believe it!
My dad of age 62 wears 2 Chuck Taylors and love them so much. It's such a timeless shoe
Your dad sounds like a cool dude
The other day i saw a guy probably in his 50's wearing wide jeans and chucks and he looked great.. from afar i would've probably thought he was a 20 year old guy or something
Your dad may have used Chuck Taylors to play basketball with, not styling.
Converse Owned by Nike since 2003 so technically he’s buying from Nike js
Never get tired of the black Chuck 70s.
Agreed🤝
I'm saving to get one, would be worth it, I'll get a cream one next.
These shoes are GARBAGE
same but the sizing is fucked up for my feet, either too small or too big :/
Well... sneaker market is dying for resellers. Economy isn't doing well, high retail prices coupled with recession DOES NOT mix well together.
Yes, that’s right
its not the retail prices that are high its the resale prices
Thanks, Biden.
The economy is doing very well, and there is no forecast of any recession. You have no idea what you're talking about.
@@Americansikkunt Go see a psychiatrist to treat your Biden Derangement Syndrome.
I don't think it's dying , i think the conjonction of the ending "hypebeast" movement , the scalpers and a less richer year in term of innovation and proposition have killed the hype.
And i think it's a good thing because people come back to the products that they really like more than follow the trend because "you have to wear Jordan 4 coconut milkie passionfruit edition" or whatever shoes on trend that you cant buy because StockX sells you the pair 10x much that his actual cost.
But hey, i can be wrong.
I don’t think you are wrong at all. I think you are right
@@HarryHas thanks Harry ,love your videos btw, keep up the good work man!
This is a bad thing in the bigger picture of things
Interesting thoughts on this one Harry. In the end, never rely on trends but go for something what is never going out of style. Sneaker are not everything but are and will continue to be a part of a regular wardrobe. Let’s see what the summer is going to bring, happy Sunday and as usual, cheers 😊🙏🏻
Happy Sunday mate. Have a good one and thanks for watching
Exactly! I totally agree with you, this is why I stick to timeless sneakers that worked well in the 80s, 90s and still do in 2024. Stuff like Converse All Star, Dr. Martens (not a sneaker but you get the idea), Adidas Forums and even AJ1s. Nothing with special edition colours or patterns, just simple basic stuff that works with everything.
my guys have their uploads synchronised lol
Would that be James by any chance?
@@HarryHasyup haha
Lol who's James

Absolutely love the converse chuck 70s, the black colorway is definitely my favorite aswell! It just works with both elevated and grungier looks.
Moreover, recently i've been really into the Oliver Cabell sneakers aswell, been meaning to ask you what you think of those.
Love your fashion inputs and videos, cheers.
I used to have a pair of the 1’s I think they were called and I sold them. The thing I don’t like about Oliver Cabell is that they just rip off other sneakers. That’s ok for some if you want some slightly more affordable options of a common projects Achilles low or a MM GAT but I like brands who do their own thing. It feels a bit soulless otherwise.
Good video. I wear vans and converse only, but my eyes have been on those trail running type sneakers like Hooka, Solomon, etc.
They are more rugged looking and purposeful than a fashion sneaker.
Black suede pumas is a staple in 80s and 90s hip hop fashion, what I am inspired by, so I might buy one for a simpler look in contrast to my asics gel lyte 3
Old skool vans and chuck 70’s were all I wore throughout school and now that I’m 25 and haven’t wore them in about 10 years I might pick up another pair of chucks
I don’t think you can ever go wrong with Chucks. They are so easy to wear
Hey Harry!
First off, love your content that’s peppered with humour and is that how you speak normally as well?
And I’m loving this period where I’m able to buy the kicks I want without those annoying resellers hiking up prices.
I worked for a major department store from AW22 - AW23 and I think this is pretty bang on. We were pushing for the CDG Converse to sell more units, and people were definitely buying them up like mad. I also noticed Hoka and On having a chokehold on my local market, but I live in a state that's known for "adventure sports" such as rock climbing and off-trail hiking. I think "the" shoes that will refuse to die out are definitely the AF1s and panda dunks, though. Everywhere I look, stores can barely keep panda dunks on their shelves, and there are so many colorways and collabs for the AF1s, that I still see people eating them up like crazy (at least locally). Vans are a spot-on prediction as well, I don't think those will ever truly die out amongst fashion-forward folks.
Been wearing Vans authentics/era for 15+ years. Most versatile shoe in my opinion.
As a hardcore sneaker head who has worn/collected sneakers since 2004 when I got my first job...
People aren't over sneakers, but rather hypebeast sneaker culture.
When say a Travis Scott Jordan comes out, there's a low chance of getting them for retail unless you're a fashion/sneaker influencer.
I'm at an age where I don't care nor have the time to go enter raffles, wait in line overnight, or whatever else it takes to get a sneaker.
One point, if I wanted something bad enough, if pay resell.
But now I'd rather just invest that money in ETF's or for my retirement, which I should've been doing all along.
I am always wearing the same sneakers and the advantage is that, at some point in time, it becomes again trendy (like a broken watch which gives you the correct hour two times per day 😂)
I lately see many fashion aware people wearing chunky adidas shoes like the campus and forum. Not to mention that people are also wearing more nike dunks, since they have become more accessible. At least that's what happening in germany right now.
Nice video as always!
Thanks dude. I’ve noticed more people wearing the Campus for sure.
Average shoe retail prices have doubled over the years. I remember when Nike Air Force 1s cost $98. Now they are averaging $130 after taxes. People just don’t have the money to spend one luxury item.
That’s true but it’s not just sneakers. The prices of everything have gone up over the past few years. Inflation
@@HarryHas How will keep up with the latest trends with inflation rates spiking over the years?
Thanks for sharing, Harry!
Cheers from Brazil!
Thanks for watching Eduardo. 🙏
As a kid who’s been collecting trainers since the 90s the last few years been the worst ever. Cant get anything anymore even basic go tos because every month something else blowing up. If the sneaker scene dying then hopefully we can go back to actually being able to buy sneakers we like.
Nice vid Harry! Think you left off an honorable mention for Mizuno quietly been doing bits.
Thank you. Yes, people have been wearing those more and more over the past couple of years. They will definitely have their moment.
i’ve been wearing converse a majority of my life…i’ve been reaching for my converse 70s a lot more lately. they will always be a staple in my wardrobe
Good one Harry, I haven't bought sneaker in years and I own almost every popular pair more especially slim ones. Sneakers have a way of coming rotating.
Thank you 🙏
One of the biggest men's sneaker trends in Tokyo since mid-2023 has been all black. The Margaret Howell x Muzuno collab is my fav example. Can recommend! I wonder if it will spread outside Japan.
It wont spread outside japa. But japan has a good taste thats why other people try to dress as japanese wear. Theyre cozy and brings color and match it with style. I highly respect japanese wear. Especially street wear.
❤️absolutely, well at least I do. My first intro was catching Yohji Yamamoto in Harper's Bazaar or other ages ago. Hey, 'anyone know if, I thought I had read that the store scene in the beautiful 80's "9 1/2 Weeks" movie was set in Yohji's then-shop-location? Always curious about that, but I've liked to think it's true. Chicago was fun to shop in the old buildings in the 90s. The best.
I have been stick with Vans authentic since watched your video, and the shoes still going strong with me until now!!! Thanks to you
I sure hope so, so it can weed out trends and trendy people and bring it back to the late 90s early 2000s. Back then when you saw someone with a fly sneaker on you knew he was a sneaker head.. hip hop and basketball and sneakers went hand in hand
The whole video is spot on, only thing is i think the trend cycle is much shorter this decade imo so sambas could be just as well cooling off now
Another alternative to sambas are onitsuka tokutens. They are quite hard to come by but I find them to be of better quality to the sambas
Resellers and limited releases have killed sneakers. I’m not camping out, partaking in raffles or paying a reseller 3-4X retail price for some shoes.
I have question about converse please respond. I have two Chuck's i usually buy my original size that is 8. I feel like there is little less room at toes and feet is little broad so is that normal or should i size up .
Samba’s are the new panda dunks, it’ll die out soon when everyone who loved it starts to hate it
Sambas have been everywhere in Europe and South America for decades, Americans are just late to the party lol
@@Julianuribe23 It’s not about being early or late. Dunks has been used since 2000s and it only took Travis to make it a thing again.
point is, sambas are the trend rn, it’ll die out soon.
@@Kai-sz1vf I thought Sambas are already dying out
Great video . However u need to touch on the luxury hand made sneakers too . Love my LV sneaker and the Gucci too . Golden goose is doing some great stuff as well
Thanks dude. Some people will always wear more luxury sneakers but a lot of people don’t want to spend that kind of money on shoes so I don’t think they will be trending like the other shoes could in this video. Have a good rest of your Sunday bro
got a pair of Rick geth runners for a great price a while ago and since then ive never had the need to think about sneakers ever again
Love your videos mate, I've seen a lot of adidas superstar recently, what do you think about those?
Thanks bro! I am a big fan of the Superstar. Classic shoe, although not something I would wear myself.
I was just about to mention Puma lol.. I agree Puma is so underrated rn i especially love the Palermo and Velophasis models from them, they could be great alternatives to Sambas and Asics gel shoes
Puma is definitely underrated.
The RSX model shoes are super comfortable and stylish
@@loope9421 RSX is definitely one of the best Puma shoes out there.
It is also a little bulky so I don't think it's something Harry would love. They are more bulky than a 990 and he already dislikes those for bulk.
I love mine tho. Definitely a underrated shoe. But I feel like Puma is underrated in general.
Loving dad shoes this year. Recently bought my 530 and aiming next for Vomero. Id love to see you try one 🥰 . Walking all day is no longer a problem for me.
They aren’t for me and my style but you enjoy wearing them 🤟
@@HarryHas thanks mate 😁
Nb's and Asics gel lyte are huge in nyc since November
Showing my age here i guess, but i reckon we've now come full circle, as literally every single shoe that got mentioned here was already super big during the mid-to-late 90s and early 2000s, at least where i grew up (Berlin, Germany). I sported the black versions of both SAMBA and GAZELLE as well as the ONITSUKA TIGERs, which were all the rage back in the days. CONVERSE, VANS and AIRWALK skate shoes were an absolute staple as well.
I'm also going through my 4th pair of the same ASICS GEL ODYSSEE model, and while they are obviously not made for life and need replacing after about two seasons, they are still and by far the most comfortable everyday shoes i have ever found, and i'm taking them to hell and back with non-stop wearing and heavy-duty use at work. Worth every penny, and i guess worth the hype, too. Cheers
Yes, that's right. To be honest, most of the sneakers mentioned here have always been knocking about whatever the trends are doing and they are always a safe bet.
I would love to have some Black Chuck 70s but Pacsun never has my size in stock, so I bought the old version on sale there and bought the Ultraviolet pair from Converse for $30. Not as cheap as the Yellow and Spring Green pairs for $20 but looks good with denim and black pants.
I’m all about the adidas superstar this year, I’ve got an all white pair and a black with white rubber pair ready to go, they pretty much go with any casual outfit.
Thank you to your video of underrated sneakers I found the puma classic 5 for ladies perfect fit for me ( female viewers 🤫😁), since the adidas samba are not comfortable on my foot 🦶 and to expensive. Agreed with ASICS wearing the last 10 years perfect for running 🏃♀️ my favorite the nimbus .
Pumas were so big around 2002, it was literally like the fashion sneaker. I remember going to a club and they didn't allow sneakers but since I was wearing Pumas, the bouncer said to go ahead.
Great video. Hopefully, the over priced secondary market, or resell of sneakers is ending so that those who want a sneaker can purchase it at retail msrp.
Seems that’s already calmed down 🤟
Fellow Chuck 70s lover here 🙋♀️ very niche question but do you have any recommendation on where to buy replacement laces for them that resemble the original ones?
I think the chuck 70 plus is a more refined option for converse
im still eyeing at converse chuck or all star (high tops)
having a hard time to decide which
my chuck 70 right shoe was literally died😂 the toe cover was accidentally holed by an unnoticed standing 3 inches steel when im about to step up my right foot.
Great video Harry!
Thank you very much
Sneakers can never fall off
What do you think about Veja sneakers? I think they are a little bit overpriced but I find them really cool tough
Bought the new balance 1906r in the volt/silver/black colorway. At the beginning of the month. The kill with an all black outfit!
Enjoy wearing them dude 🤟
Really loving my Vans Sk8-Low at the moment. They are slowly becoming my favorite shoe. Similar silhouette as the Old Skool but I don't see anybody wearing these. They are often overlooked when it comes to Vans, as people tend to buy the Old Skool or Sk8-High.
Nice to hear you have found a sneaker that works well for you 🤟
I love the Authentics and MTEs but can’t stand any other model of Vans.
I'm finding myself moving away from trainers as my style matures but I think I'll always have a pair of white trainers (probably Stan Smiths) and Vans hi tops.
I’m the same as you. I think I’ll have a lot less going forward but I always like to have a few pairs. Especially in the summer
I think there is a wide interest for those chunky skater shoes. The vans knu skool did it and some of the adidas and puma shoes had shunky versions on 2023. Probably due to this y2k comeback and the louis vuitton collection with I think it was virgil.
Aww man this means my handball habit is gonna get more expensive in the ‘new boxed’ second hand market. Still a great shoe for those with a little wider foot from constant Birkenstock wear over the years
The Johnny Edlind style wave was a vibe.
I'm more of a boots wearer, but I like to have all white trainers in different profiles (which you could VERY loosely describe as sleek, average, and more chunky) as there are always tricky outfits that are hard to coordinate with many shoe colours or styles, so one of those aforementioned white trainer types should at least be good enough to complete the look acceptably. Trousers, especially the more baggy or flared types can be particularly tricky, so - white trainer assortment to the rescue! Cheers fella .
Cheers for watching dude. I get you. I tend to wear similar styles of trousers these days that go with my boots but I agree with you. Different fits work better with different footwear
Another alternative low pro adidas is the Campus that has potential to become popular. I think the Superstar might get a big push from the brand also.
ON's and Hoka's are just bloody comfortable so it's hard to deny their popularity. Converse proove their place decade after decade.
The Puma 'sparco' as you called them are called the Speedcat and i've heard that Puma is planning a come back with them along with the Mostro from the early naughts era. It will be interesting to see how well they'll be received. But as with any shoe trend all it will take is a celebrity, fashion house, or subcultural style trend or new look to set the new wave in motion.
Me personally, i'm going to go for the current tech indoor football/football boot style.
Omg I’m never going back to gel model tennis shoes. That was a horrible era in my style journey when my mother dressed my brother and I.
This year I am going to focus more on Nike Air Max Tuned 1 OG, If I can find a nice colour.
When I was in Las Vegas just last month, I did something unusual - I started looking at people's shoes. I mean, you do get tired of winning all the time. 😃So for about 20 minutes as hundreds walked by I took a gander at their footwear. Very varied. Mostly sneakers of way different "stripes", colors and features - some still had the little lights going on. (Mostly kids) Dress shoes were mainly for the suited men - floor managers, casino hosts and such. Yes, sneakers are here to stay.
Love the look of the Stan Smith crepe
This is kinda good for those of us 90 baby sneaker heads. The youths are going for all these shoes that we got in 2006, while we get the retro Jordan’s at a decent price.
I'm torn between the Samba's and the Gazelle's for this summer of 2024 and i really don't know which ones to get, help!! i wanna get them as soon as possible
From uni, all the way to a majority of my nursing career (can't wear them in the wards though 😭😂), my default choice will always be a pair of chucks! Will always be a converse girly! 🫶🏽
They are a classic 🤟
I always get mad confused while purchasing sneakers and tend to buy the wrong one. Help me
I would say that fast fashion sneakers, overhyped sneakers like Jordan’s, collabs with balenciga or any major fashion brand is out, good shoes like the vans skate line, the chuck 70s, new balance 990, and 200 line, sacouny, and more will never go out of style cause people mostly want a nice comfortable but good looking sneaker that can withstand wear and tear, most of these sneakers are iconic and will still be worn, it’s just that cheap sneakers and overhyped, and collabs with artists may dwindle as most jsut want simplicity and comfort
I think nothing can go wrong with a pair of comfortable sneakers (New balance etc). I love slim shoes as well and think theyre fashionable, but I like to keep them mainly for the summer. Its winter here but not to the point I need boots, so a pair of comfortable New Balances are fine with me. Regardless of what the trends say, most people have a pair of traditional sneakers for a versatile wardrobe
My youtube is broken and wont let me edit my own comment lol. But i have been wearing the Super Pima Liga OGs for my thin style shoe, grey and black colourway. I love them and they look better than Sambas IMO
I've decided to start moving to more premium sneakers. Full leather, with leather insoles and leather linning. Companies like Goral make some incredibly good shoes for not that much more than a "fancy" Nike that actually costs like $15 to make.
i copped 2 handball spezials recently not wanting to be another samba sheep. That and i read sambas need to go .5 size up
I got the CDG converse when the hype died down. I still enjoy wearing them. If they come back then I can call myself a trendsetter haha
My shoe of choice are my Crocs when I'm just going to the store. Much practical
They're a few spotty virgins at my gym who wear CDG converse, well it is Fulham
Spezial light blue for me in 24. I think minimal, sleek and the ones that feels like a second skin will be the talk of 24. But we never know.
I hope onitsuka’s tokuten remains unpopular this year. Very underrated. But when it comes to flat shoes. Maison Margiela’s gats replica will always be my top 1 and nobody’s gonna change my mind.
I'm always wearing my CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR CHUCK 70 I love them I been wearing them most of my life since the 90s I love my CONVERSE
Literally my dream as a sneakerhead. Over the last year, I've already managed to buy a couple pairs that I've wanted for years at prices which I can actually afford, such as the Cream/Chrome Raf Ozweego's. Long may this continue, and long may collecting shoes not be something only possible for the rich.
Glad you managed to get hold of some sneakers you love mate. Enjoy them
I bought lacoste lerond pro all white, good leather shoe I just changed the insole to a better one and its unbeatable.
Stan smith is also good
I live in a very hot environment, and it is shorts nearly all the time. Most of the ones you showed off in this video were being modeled with pants. Any suggestions for shorts?
Maybe the Stan Smiths or Puma?
I hope so as a sneakerhead around since the early 90s I just want all these money grubbing resellers to get out and go somewhere else
As a Converse fan since my childhood, the Chuck Taylor 70s will always be in my collection during spring and summer, same with the Adidas Stan Smith. In the fall and winter, I normally wear boots or Air Force 1's Hi in a fall/ winter color. Apart from the Chuck Taylor 70s which is a sort of slim shoe I normally don't go for the slimmer shoes, because I'm 1,93m, 120 kilos with broad shoulders. I think a shoe like the gazelle might look off, I don't know. I should try it on. Could you make a video where you advise people of shoes and sneakers according to their body type? Or have you done one already? Cheers from the Netherlands Harry, the sun is shining and it's a great day for a walk outside.
I haven’t done one already but I think anyone can wear a pair of Gazelle sneakers. They are very simple so I don’t see any problem with anyone wearing them
So, the Sambaes.
Any thoughts there? To me they look like a Samba and a Gazelle hybrid. BTW, I bought them because I liked the skater vibe (maybe not skater) and the gum sole, but I'm still conflicted.
Also, I never gave up my Vans Authentics and Pumas. If you've lived in California, you're a Vans lifer.
ASICS will be massive this year I think
Footwear is a tricky one. I sometimes feel a 'fit' can look a bit immature because it has sneakers. If you switch the sneakers for something more mature such as Clarks Wallabee's or Redwing boots it kind of suits the 'fit' and your age. I feel like I can't be taken seriously if I'm rocking a pair of colouful sneakers for a functional or a setting. I can't help but feel like immature.
Can you relate or understand what I mean by that? - It's my experience and thoughts, by no means does it mean it's true for everyone. It'd be good to see 'formal' footwear for 2024!
Yes I can 100% see where you are coming from with that. I tend to love wearing my boots over sneakers and if I do wear sneakers I wear my Chuck 70’s. I feel some of my older sneakers I used to love just don’t do it for me anymore and make me feel a bit too casual. Summer will be a bit different as sneakers are perfect in summer but I get you.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one! @@HarryHas
@@BrandonDJx With those boots you look like a pathetic try-hard, plus, you have already admitted that you're insecure.

Piu-ma is the most funny thing I ever heard in a fashion content 😂
Just as funny for any non American to hear Poo-ma.. Sounds ridiculous 😂
@@THEICONZAit makes it very funny when someone says they are wearing Puma pants.
My goal is the Nike Zoom Vomero 5. Such a silluette, such greats colorways...
Also, in my college, it seems that they give free Vans as uniform, cuz everybody wears them 😂
The free Vans sounds good 🤟
I buy sneakers as well. But the last shoes I bought are dress shoes. They get builder for me right now. A dream becomes true. My first pear of Carmina shoes. I just need to wait until they are done.
Sneaker with a clean look or vans are good to look stylish during you do your hobbies. Tennis schuhs out of leather on color no logos or what ever the else do. Just clean and Streamlined. And low top. Wight or middle brown. grey is as veteran as wight and blue and brown are the best colors that matches most pants in light or dark Shades. Black is actually not the best choice to match pants that are not jeans. But even light blue jeans looks stupid with black sneakers. People looks like a cartoon figure. They look stupid. XD
I like the fact you use actual data - not even sure if it’s reliable but I instantly trust you more hahahaha XD
Great video as always my dude ❤️
Thank you very much
The slim shoes thing really isn't my thing. I like to see that blow over 😂
But I like that Jordans and such are sitting more. The retail prices are too high.
The running shoe thing is fine. Not my favorite but fine.
And Puma is definitely underrated.
I quit wearing sneakers 2 years ago. All boots. Most recently moved to only MTO boots
Rooting for the gazelles this year!
Should the Nike Cortez be in this trend of slim sneakers, I see the samba and tiger, then star thinking of the Nike Cortez
I really been liking new balance lately for sneakers.
I really love 2002r but theyre expensive in my country. Instead I got the 550s but the color they putting grows in me
As long as people have feet, they will need sneakers. Shoe companies such as Nike are doing what they promised and wiping out the resellers.
