    Just got done putting this switch in a 2022 refresh with the Duramax. Everything is the same, except getting through the firewall was a pain in the butt. The air intake tubes block it. Removed the first elbow, and access was still tight, but I got it... if you remove the back part of the intake hose, it wouldn't be too bad, but that seemed like it would be more trouble than it was worth.
    Oh, and finding the wire was a little challenging in the cab. I don't know if the 2022s have more sound insulation, but I had to dig for it.

So I cut the wires like you did in min 14:22 but I don’t know hot to connect to the box which wire goes to negative and positive since it’s it has a red blue and white wire, it’s also a RC led light bar with DRL

    Good morning, For the wiring of the RC light bar. I notice u cap the red wire for the switch, at 14:29 of video {New Switch Panel Auxbeam AR-800} that being said..... you run the WHITE wire into the positive terminal using 30 amp location on AUX box and then the BLUE wire into positive terminal of next switch over ? Using the 30 amp switch right next to it ??? Lastly, do you connect the power leads that come with wiring harness for the light bar or just burying them ? Thanks Don J

    Prefer the replaceable relay version, easier troubleshooting. Also if relay fails you can swap positions to put the circuit back in operation. Relays fail, I like the option to replace. I would not like to replace the whole relay power unit because (one) potted relay failed. They should keep the previous (old) form factor and add the RGB/Blue-Tooth features. Don, great videos. Thank-you!

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  Před 2 lety

      Thank you sir! Technically you could leave the control panel tucked away somewhere safely in the engine bay away from heat and moisture. Your phone app via Bluetooth would do the controlling. Personally I would find that inconvenient and would want the panel in the cab, even if you left it sitting in the glovebox or something. If you want to control it with your infotainment system, you’ll need something like my CarPlay AI box to control the Auxbeam switches.

    One question. Does anyone if it is possible to set the control to power on the last set accessories as soon as it powers up with the car?
    As it stands now, when you turn the car off, powering off the panel, next time you power the car on, you must press the main power button on the panel to activate it.
    I would like to set it to power on automatically with the car startup.

    If I have lights that I would like functioning while the ignition is off, does this switch Bank drain the battery if the accessory wire is hooked up to a power source that isn't ignition dependent?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  Před 11 měsíci

      It will drain a little power to illuminate the LED backlights for the panel if the remote wire is connected to an ‘always hot’ source. I left my panel powered up overnight and my vehicle wasn’t really drained. Over a few days it could be a problem. You might want to do something like this : czcams.com/video/aV7ey5415dI/video.html

      Fair point. You can wire up the switch panel to constant too. Really up to you…….or you can add a diode and a remote switch like I did in the video. Now I can sit by the campfire and turn the switch on remotely, while controlling all the gadgets. (For example) 😊

    Don - loved the video and the step by step install directions. My AR-800 arrived yesterday and followed your video and the supplied installation brochure supplied by Auxbeam. Unfortunately, despite everything being hooked up correctly I cannot get the control box to turn on and illuminate. I tried to reach Auxbeam for assistance but to no avail, and they don't have any Q&A or Troubleshooting links on their website, or none that I could find.
    My 2016 Toyota Tundra has LOW PROFILE mini fuses, so I used the supplied fuse tap, which is designed for mini fuses, and replaced my 10 amp low profile mini ignition fuse with a 10 amp mini fuse. The supplied fuse tap seems to fit fine into my truck's fuse box, and even with replacing the truck's 10 amp low profile mini fuse with a 10 amp mini fuse the truck started up just fine. I haven't hooked up any accessories yet, but one would conclude the control box should display it is receiving power with or without any attached accessories. Do you think the issue is using a fuse tap with mini fuses instead of LOW PROFILE mini fuses? Any troubleshooting ideas?

    sweet video and after seeing some of the updates to the 8 gang panel I'm leaning towards it over the 6 gang, mainly the toggle/momentary mode selection and the slimmer fuse/relay box form factor (since it'll be going into a car). Thinking this is just the sort of thing to make installing various Leds and ambient lighting much easier (since I have yet to install any 12v accessories). I do wish there was a 3 way toggle switch option because for the front light bar I'd love to control it by being on/off/on w/high beams) but might need to wire that separately.
    One thing I was wondering is that when you were showing your compressor with the inline fuse you said you could replace the 20A auxpower box fuse with a 15A one and negate the need for the inline one. I thought replacing the fuses was not reccomended, did you end up doing that without any issues?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  Před 2 lety +2

  • @KTMcaptain
    @KTMcaptain Před 2 lety

    This look identical to the non rgb non app version. I'm thinking maybe all that functionality is built into the switch itself. My biggest dislike is that it doesn't remember what's on when I turn the car back on. So DRL would be pointless to wire up since they'd have to be turned on every time. I actually mounted my switch to my GMRS radio's mount underneath it so it's kinda like a console of equipment. Love the auto dim feature, works very well. Hopefully this will hold up better than the junk wiring harnesses KC sent me with my lights. Corroded and burned at the relay since it was 1 wire in and 2 out to each 80 watt light. The outputs were fine but the input wire was just burnt.

    Do both units do the strobing or just the one with the Bluetooth ?

      Some non-Bluetooth models have the feature. Look for ‘pulse’ as an available function

    Does the ignition need to be on to turn lights on with app.

      Depends where you attach the remote turn on wire. I did a follow up video here with a wireless remote turn on option.

    Soo I have RC lights that have a full light mode and a DRL mode. Will that still work with this panel?

      Yes, just wire each feature to a switch. You can also program switches to turn on together
