  • Capability demonstration of a novel gimbal concept featuring a two-degree-of-freedom singularity-free motion mechanism. Angular displacement of 180° is covered in less than 200ms by a decoupling controller that follows the shortest trajectory arc between any two points within the operating range.

The design is most suitable for sensor (e.g. visible/IR imager) payload positioning at high speeds and over a wide angular range. One such application is target tracking with full-hemisphere continuous coverage (without gimbal lock). A tracking demo video is viewable on this channel.

Yes, maximum slew rate is 1600°/s, maximum acceleration 20000°/s^2.

That's looking really really great! Amazing speed. What is the weight of that gimbal and will anything like that will come on the market?

Very impressive !!! Any info on servos? What are they ? Or can you suggest any other servo with similar capabilities ? Thank you.

    Great! Is this commercially available?
    Thanks

I'm having hard time making CAD model of this. Base part has rotary joint with tilt angle around 20°. Next part connected to it is non trivial (some sort of twisting involved). Is this correct? User amirnasher asked about servos.
Is this patented or patent pending?
