How is everyone ignoring Ronaldo's disallowed goal. The moment that goal was disallowed for a soft shoulder to shoulder, the referee has to aplly the same criteria and call the penalty. Simple as that! It's dishonesty what these guys are doing
That is not a disallowed goal, a disallowed goal is when a goal happens and it is disallowed, what happened is that there was a foul and even with the foul Cr7 continued playing and supposedly scored a goal but the game was not worth it

It's not exactly double standards man... Some referees are more picky than others. Professional football is not exactly played by the (rule) book. It's pretty loose... So it's going to have some variations and particular referee flavors. Some allow more heavy contact, some allow only light contact. If people played football EXACTLY like depicted in the rule book... Any 5 minutes you'd have to stop the game because of a foul. Football at this level it's veryyyyyy competitive, so it's going to have more contact, more roughness, more physicality, more etc-

As someone who was supporting Portugal in this game:
- There was no penalty. In fact, it could have been a booking for simulation.
- Ronaldo's goal in the first half should have stood; I don't think there was a foul
- The defence might have been awful, but there was also a lack of desire and creativity in the midfield (which really shouldn't happen, given its quality)
- We managed to score three goals while being rather lacklustre (especially star players like Cristiano, Cancelo and Bernardo), which is an encouraging sign
- If Ghana can defend a little better, they might have a chance of qualifying in this group given how the other teams played

It wasn't just about the dubious penalty, there was an offside goal which the VAR refused spent much time on checking it.
When there is doubt, I've seen the VAR spent over 4mins trying their best to identify an offside when they deem it important. Why didn't they spent that much time on ours?

To be totally honest, as a portuguese it felt very soft, but something tells me the guys at VAR didn't call him up because there was another angle whre the leg part of the challenge looked worse.
The problem with these things is that we at home are only given one or two angles max, and always at slow mo........slow mo isn't ALWAYS the best way to evaluate the "intent" or infuence of the foul.
But stop being biased becoz the defender got to the ball first and made a soft touch on CR7 and then he took a dive but the pool was suddenly dried up making it look like a foul. Africa must stop going to this tournament 🙄

With this kind of fouls given this referees are trying to say just passing by a player to tackle the ball with another player is going to result in foul or are they saying we are playing with Portuguese women to award that kind of foul and penalty. If we are playing with women then that penalty and that foul on Felix is understandable.

What I really disliked yesterday during Portugal’s match was the cameras constant focus on only Christian’s Ronaldo ignoring for most of the time the rest of the team. The TV director needs to give the other players some respect too..

Ronaldo was shoved in the back by the defenders shoulder. Maybe it was a 50-50 decision, but I think it was fair because he had an earlier goal disallowed on another 50-50 decision.

What mattered was that the referee was consistent. In the first half the ref gave a soft call when Ronaldo had a physical battle with the defender when he scored. Yes in the 2nd half, the defender touched the ball, but he pushed Ronaldo just as he did. What matters is that the way the referee conceptualized a foul was consistent, so whether you like it or not 1 out of the 2 goals must stand…

Its a penalty, he was clipped in the back of his heel. Rewrite the rules then if its a problem, Ronaldo's goal should have stood, barely pushed the defender. The game didn't change because of the PK Ghana scored right after the PK. Cry. The game changed when Santos used his brain bringing on Leao and moving Bruno to the mid that's when Portugal came alive.

Danilo, he is a liability. This was a learning lesson, Rui needs to start at goal. This reminds me of the 2nd leg qualifying game Ghana vs Nigeria. Ghana were very aggressive and were giving a lot of fouls. It translated to this game vs Portugal. I guess things don't change.
