As an American i want to thank all Russians for the sacrifice and there ancestors sacrifice for the victory in ww2. The amount of blood spilled on the eastern front is not taught enough in the United States.

I don’t think the Ukrainians are toppling statues of *their own guys* if they were even allowed to denote statues of their own soldiers and leaders
They tear down monuments to Soviet soldiers. This is a collective image of a soldier, it was meant that he could be Russian, Ukrainian, Buryat, Yakut, Kazakh and one of the other peoples of the USSR. I don't think veterans from Ukraine approve of this, but their opinion doesn't interest Zelensky.
In the same way they also tear down monuments to writers, for example, Alexander Pushkin - one of the greatest poets in the history of Russia. He lived 200 years ago and has nothing to do with the current conflict. Meanwhile, monuments to Mykola Gogol, a famous Ukrainian writer, stand in the Russian Federation in many cities, and his novels are studied in the school curriculum
