  • Wow - since the Pandemic caused boat prices to go insane, rare has it been that we have found three boats in this series that are all 'cheap" by 2024 standards.
Today was that day. Thank you to Dale for the lead on the Steiger. Let me know in the comments which of these you would pick and why.

If the floor is solid on the Mako and the hull isn't damaged that's an awesome flip boat. People love those old Mako and fishing boats always sell. CC are by far the easiest to work on. Outboards any day over an inboard/outboard for working on 😂. You can flip that Mako for double if you put a little work into it.

Great video again John. As another person mentioned, we are ready for an update video of your eastward cat. Upate on the water first, then the first fishing video on that boat, can't wait🙂👍

Definitely the Mako. The mystery drivetrain on the Steiger, especially a stern drive is a no go,unless it can easily be repowered to outdrive. The bow rider probably would be a great small lake boat but you can get 25’ cruisers for that price on the Great Lakes.

Had a '79 Volare wagon with the 318 V8; silver with red velour interior - I bought it brand new in Miami, FL. Drove to and from NY several times with it and never had any trouble with her. Kept her 'til '91 when I sold her to a Coastie (BM1) from Rockaway Station. He fell in love with how mechanically clean she was too. He never complained in the years since about her. Funny thing, she made trips out by you during the summer to Laurel, NY on the south fork where the in-laws have a summer house. I like the Steiger but only if there's no wood under the deck (stringers). Heard they had a lot of problems with the wooden stringers during the earlier years.

It took me two years to sell my 2002 21 Chesapeake for $15000. In 2011. Yes I Took a beating. IMO if you’re trailering, a roller is the only way to go, they winch up straight and centered, unload easily. A bunk trailer is designed to float a boat on and your most likely have to put your rear wheels and axle in the salt water to achieve that, which is not good, ( most of the ramps are not steep enough) I’ve had both. Good work John thanks.

Thanks! Oh for sure easier with the roller trailer. My concern is the strap breaking :)

Totally with you on the Mako. Assuming it runs OK it's a fair price for what it is, just needs a little tlc.
