Do you have to sign Unum's Reimbursement form in your disability insurance claim? - Disability Attorney John V. Tucker answers.
Watch as Disability Attorney John V. Tucker clarifies an common issue with one of the largest disability insurance companies, Unum Life Insurance Company.
Unum has certain offsets or reductions in their policies that reduce the amount that you are paid, if you get other income benefits, like social security disability. They ask that you sign a reimbursement form allowing them to have a lien on your bank account and other personal property. If you sign it, you're agreeing to it and you'll be bound to it, however that practice is not allowed by the law.
Keep in mind, legal advice is individual. And if you want a specific opinion about the form they're asking you to sign, we encourage you to call the Tucker Law Firm at 855-757-0707 or visit www.TuckerDisability.com
