I’ve been wanting to test this out for quite awhile. I’m really impressed with TriArt Liquid Glass for sealing your work…the jury is still out on whether it works well for a pouring medium. Gina Deluca has been testing it in her pours too…here’s a link to those videos.

It’s NOT heat resistant so using it for coasters may not work. But for art pieces, this is a great option for a resin like finish without all the hassle of resin! Yay!!! Finally!!

I tried this a couple of times. I read about using it diluted 60/40
Liquid glass to distilled water. I mixed well and left it overnight to let bubbles escape. It spread nicely with tilting. I waited overnight and did a second coat. Both I and the client were very happy with the result of this 18x24 piece. I'd post a photo here, but I don't seem to be able to.
Liquid glass will develop crusties along the upper edge of liquid if it sits. I strain it before use to avoid chunks.

Wow this is amazing. Thanks for sharing. So no popping air bubbles.

I think you had enough in that cup for 2 or 3 paintings this size hahaha In the end though I think it's a beautiful piece and the colour combination is stunning. I just puchased some of the Tri Art Liquid Glass so was going through to see who has tested it before I play with mine. Thanks for sharing your testing.

As much as i love the look and ease of TriArt, I have ruined so many paintings using it! Not sure if it’s the humidity of living at the beach but I can never get it to dry to a hard finish like resin does! I had a huge commission piece that formed thousands of pinhole bubbles (like the ones you got when using it as a pouring medium) over night that I ended up having to Resin over the entire piece in order to save it. I do LOVE using it for all my jewelry though! Overall, not sure I’m a fan just yet but I do Love All the pieces you did my friend!! Much love!🤗

Thanks for the experiment Michelle! I bought a bottle of this stuff awhile ago and now it's full of lumps .. I guess I'll have to strain it and give it another shot. 💕

Smart Michell I tried that stuff with an applicator and had lines but I couldn’t get rid of marks on it. It was terrible. Never thought of tilting it like you did!

Thanks for doing the experiments. Looks great on the tiles as a top coat. When you mixed it with the paint as a medium you got a whole bunch of tiny dots when it dried. I looked at the companies website and it said you should pop any bubbles with a toothpick. Never apply a flame. I believe you torched so perhaps this caused the tiny dots.

  • @MixedMediaCraftsbyDiane

Gorgeous coasters! I love how Tri-Art dries, but I just don't buy it because it's not heat resistant over boiling point. Thank you.

I get it. I don’t do coasters anymore. Not cost effective for the time and materials. I’ll have to try TriArt on a big piece to see if I get good results too.

I really struggled with this stuff trying to glaze a painting. You cannot touch it at all. My painting was ruined with marks and dips and lines. No instructions on the bottle or online so I rang the company and they said you can only pour it on and tip the canvas as you did til it's all covered, without using fingers or tools. I haven't bothered with it again. Too costly.

Will this work on pigment paints.? I have had varnish liquefy it. Then I heard K Mar varnish will not liquify

I wanted to experiment with it as a pouring medium with the blooms. Do you have any advice for that?
And that was a very helpful experiment! I use resin mostly but it does not work with my canvases, too heavy. But I’m going to try the Tri Art for that now, I’m sure it’s much lighter!
