My boy didnt critiq my bro. Ultra bruh >:[
This mans understanding of art makes me tremble just to think about him judging my work XD
I love your name!! Your art work is great. Practice practice practice.
I think his watch is a little small, he should get a bigger one
Shark I laughed way too hard at this
looking for the comment i found it, did not disappoint.
I think the tone of his shirt is slightly amiss. Maybe he should've gone with slightly more hues of cerulean!
LOL
In proportion to those bangin' forearms though.
Jeff’s critique is even great for those who didn’t enter since it gives us an insight into what makes something go from good to great.
We need Jeff Watts Interview. Who else agrees?
There is already one. Check proko’s Chanel
@@ulisesrobles27 No there isn't. There is one where jeff watts interviews proko but not the other way around.
So good to see Jeff here on the channel, Stan.
Yeahhh
Jeff Watts' Critique = Solid Gold
As a professional artist I am surprised how much more I have to learn about anatomy. Wow. It keep me humble to hear from the modern masters - so much fun stuff still to learn :)
Having taken classes at Watts (online), the critiques are almost more important than the lecture. This is a great video from a true living master.
What I should be looking at: The art
What I’m actually looking at: His watch
😂 the watch is absurd!
Jeff"s flexin on us lol
Internet really is amazing. I would have no possible way of getting tips from someone like Jeff Watts if it weren't for this. Thanks
This is so amazing stan, really happy you brought the man himself here. There's something very beautiful and gripping in listening to the masters who knows what they're doing and are so good at doing it. Absolutely loved this
This is fantastic critique work btw. This is how you do it; he breaks down what they did right, what could be done better, and touches politely on how they might go about that- and even explains when it isn't necessarily the art itself but something outside it like the reference itself.
Hi Stan, just a heads up. You credited the 3rd place finisher incorrectly. It's @goodmang314. Jeff did a great job critiquing so many entries. Cheers!
Hey sorry about that! I didn't catch that error when it switched to Jeff.
i love how jeff nerds out on the anatomy. super inspiring and educational critique sesh!
Jeffs critique is so honest and useful! Please more of it :D
Almost all the drawings issues come from not working from large to small. Meaning working on small muscles before understanding the large images. That tends to happen to me because I’m trying to fly through the process. Sometimes I have to set goals and walk away from the piece so I don’t skip through the process.
Damn, this is so true.
I was in the video for about 40 seconds but I really respect how many submissions Jeff was willing to critique, I wish I had more than a couple hours to work on my piece very informative and interesting to see which decisions he values and what technical advice he has to offer, excellent.
This is absolute gold. Just listening to this guy gave me some "aha!- effects" thanks a lot for the upload. Wish i would have had a teacher like this 15 years ago.
This is pure gold! Thanks a lot for this to Proko and Jeff Watts!
YES YES YES🔥🔥 another critique video, love it!
I just love how I learn so much from critique videos... Thank you so much, Stan and Jeff! So excited for my next figure painting!
I had fun with this challenge, there were so many other great studies! Great job everyone!
This was wonderfully done! I almost couldn't see the difference between the two images at 3:18 until you criticize it yourself. This is the kind of eye that I need for my artworks.
Been watching Stan for more than a year now and I recently just started my own channel as I verge to have my art as my fulltime job. Will keep coming back for more! Shout out to all the new artists here! Don't quit! Keep working!
This was spectacular and needs to be a regular feature either here or on the Watts Atelier channel.
This is a stellar video about how to do more in-depth figure drawing. Thanks for releasing this!
There’s so many takeaways to learn from Mr. Watts critiquing. Many thanks to you guys for putting some of the best content on CZcams for us to learn and enjoy.
jeff has a great and supportive way of critiquing, would be a great gift to have him critique ones work
One thing I noticed, and this is common to all good teachers, is that the more he likes a study the more thoroughly he hammers at it with his crit. So if you were one of the artists who he spent a good couple of minutes pulling to pieces take heart!
Anyone else patting themselves on the back for thinking what he said before he said it? Then I realized that my anatomy game is weak and lowered my head in shame.
Finally! Watts on Proko!! Been waiting for this
WOW. Just WOW. Great critique(s) and pointers... Great inspiration to go forward... Keep up the great work and content!!!
only watched 10 mins yet but this is brilliant, proko! for an amateur it's worth a 100 tutorials! mr. watts has insane insight! thanks, guys!!
Me too!
Congratulations to the winners ! A lot of amazing drawing.
Thanks to Jeff for all the insight.
Now it's time to jump on the new challenge and the October #inkwithwatts.
This was great! So much insight, thank you!
This is brilliant! Saw mention of this on Jeff’s Instagram was looking forward to it
I’m just happy one of the winners liked my entry on instagram hahaha - these are just amazing entries - can’t wait to do the next one!!!
Mr. Watts' ability to talk endlessly is impressive!
While I had no delusions of getting placed, I really wanted Jeff's help on my mistakes. But it was a fun challenge to be a part of and so many awesome entries! Thank you Stan for these monthly challenges!
These critiques are gold!
Incredibly insightful! Learnt a lot!
I didn't get critiqued, but I appreciated watching all of the critiques given. Amazing work everyone! Kudos to the winners!
I've listened to this video as no other lesson in my life before.
18:14 - this person got the model's hands and head right - finally! 52:14 was very good.
54:07 thanks for the crit, Jeff, i love your work, it is my main inspiration
What an amazing opportunity to learn. Love this
Absolutely marvellous
I really enjoyed this episode :) thanks guys
I really enjoyed this! He is really really good at critiquing.
“You are not trying to impress your Mom” 😂😂
That was rough haha
500! This guy's a Beast!
This was fantastic!!! thank you!
congrats to all the winners :)
I want a sculpting teacher like him, someone who doesn't sugar quote it. my favorite video of yours Stan.
In regards to the figure with the stick I feel that if you are going to turn that into an action pose where the figure is interacting with another person or creature then lose the structure the one leg is resting on and do a slight adjustment to have the figure look like it was running or sgifting weight in order to deliver the blow with the stick.
It just seems odd to be in action but one knee is casually resting on a cloth covered box or rock.
This was really informative, great content
always refreshing to see constructive criticism done right. well done
Deym i might put some cash away just to take one of his critique classes. These critiques alone are very insightful
Thats a big watch Jeff ...Very important things u say
I can’t believe you did all 500 🤯
OMG what is this awesomeness!?! Started Watts last term :)
Wonderful critiquing, learned a lot.
Totally had me at Jeff Watts
I did the same comment on another Jeff Watt's video that you posted, Proko. Jeff is so fantastically inspiring to listen to. I just want to stop coding and start drawing but I have to fix this bug and several others before...
great work, very informative.
Jeesus this video is extremely valuable. And Stan gives it to us free.
Stoked for that book!
Great entries, really! I didn' expect to win after I saw other works, also I didn't expect critique on this video but seems like my entry wasn't even there, at least I didn't see it among other files on Jeff's screen, and it should be there based on my account name... too bad . Probably should submit work earlier and not on Sep 14th
Yeah same, maybe there was too many entries to choose from
Stan, really, Jeff in the podcast. Or an interview in the channel, please.
Thanks a lot for this wisdom
Scumbling (answering my own question)
"What is Scumbling technique?
A little known but simple oil paint technique, scumbling is the application of a small amount of neat paint from a stiff brush to create atmosphere in a broken glaze. Scumbling can be seen in any expressive painting such as one from the impressionist movement." Source: rachel shirly paintings
58:59 this is one of my favourites
58:46 one of my favorites aproaches
Had me going "wooooo god damn" from the start!
Just got myself a Tab S7 and will be practicing again.
You are all very talented.
I, one day would be happy to call any of these artworks mine.
I am starting my art journey at the ripe age of 29 and won’t stop until I am dead.
Is it possible to be critiqued by this man??? This dude is an awesome critiquer.
I'm so happy my drawing got critiqued! :D
this is really great
Watching this makes me feel like I could never be good enough
Really enjoyed this video
Great critiques
Some very neat work here! good shit
Watts on Bridgman sounds AMAZING and very useful; when does it come out though? I mean even if not an exact date it would be nice to know if I should keep an eye out in a week, a month, next year?....
Last I heard, the tentative release is December, but it's not firm.
i appreciate the evaluations. something weird happened. in facebook some one posted a list with old words or expressions minutes ago. you have said one of them now!!! wishy washy. greetings from Chile!!
This guy has good intuition. He should get into art
Jeff's watch 😄😄😄
Well, you can't have good taste in everything...🐻
I learned so much ~
@3:33 Such a compliment to that amazing artist; make the judge believe it’s a manipulated photo. Awesome.
I don't think that is quite what he means. I think he means he felt it looked very photo accurate to a point of having no character, that's a dangerous slope because you may as well use a photo at that point; but that he was also unsure of what digital tools or tricks might have been used in it's process, and that if he knew what/how things were used it would affect how he approached critique of it.
Still, it is a hell of a piece. I examined to see if they used a color picker or something but I don't think they did at all.
He could be referring to the lens distortion
Sweet video!
great vid!
Mano, muito bom!!!
Thanks for a great video with such detailed critique. Just a question, at 10:50 the hamstring muscles are called quadriceps, why? Greetings from a MD in Berlin:-).
Thanks for Video sir
Thenks Man) Jeff Super)
13:35 I also feel like there's a general shape and color problem with the figure here. Where certain blending of light and shadow translates poorly, creating confusing tones, volumes, and highlights on the right side of the body.
If the artist stuck with the light background and fabric stool, it would've definitely help in finding certain errors.
The first picture of the man seating '3.40' is a photo reproduction on canvas with a transparent layer of colour on top of it. it looks and feels photograph
Love you sir
Thank you sir..
jeff is lowkey savage
22:56 this drawing is mindblowing
