Great video! You missed one. If you hold enter down, the camera will follow your sim. Also when you were talking about speeding up time you don't have to use your number row, you can also use your number pad, and zero is pause as well.

@@CatchyCher No problem. Sadly, because I have a laptop with a backlit keyboard I can't use the F5 shortcut key :-(. F5 is used to turn the back light on and off.
@Karina Lopez if you're using a laptop, it could be just that your num pad doesn't work with games. Like on my laptop, I can't use the f2 key, because that is linked to a specific function. It it gets on my nerves sometimes. Example, if I'm using office I can't use F1 to create a text box while editing a PDF, because F1 is a function for brightness. It was just configured that way, but it's annoying.
@@elishevafreely3206 if you hold down the Fn key and the function key you want to use, it will adjust to the application you are currently in so that way you can use F1, F2 and so on for anything you need.
@@elishevafreely3206 you can set in bios setting to fn key function toggle it can allow to Direct pressed f1 function key.for supposed if you have been volume up function on F4 after toggle it pressed with fn key so in short it work like computer key . I Have hp laptop that i am using and testing this setting thorough bios
Z and X are also hotkeys for zooming in/out!! And for laptop users such as myself, the Fn key + up/down arrow is for going up/down floors, and Fn key + right/left arrow is for changing the wall views!

Do you know how to escalate objects on the laptop? When I use the "right bracket/9" key it just elevates the object I'm holding

Always learning a new thing or two. Great, helpful vid. One thing is that if you right click whilst in 1st person mode, you can target behind an obstacle (such as a wall).

You can also hold shift + camera movement (w,a,s,d) to move the camera faster, it can be done the same with the zoom in and out...

While In tab (camera mode) you can use “q “ and “e” to move up and down.

Oh this is going to be so useful, some of these I knew, but a lot of them I didn't know, oh and I always have used The Sims 3 camera, I remember trying the TS4 one, but hated it, so right away switched to TS3 camera and never looked back, lol!
There's a ton of hotkeys! I thought I was pretty good at remembering the ones I use, but there's so much more 🙉 TS4 camera does suck! lol

Pressing Y while in top down view mode you can view collision issues you might have. found this super helpful
when you move a house and you start to lose random items in the wall or while building caves and routing issues occur, but im not sure which rock im grabbing.

The only one I can think of is 9 and 0 to change the height of an item

When in build/buy mode you can hold shift + page up/down to move the grid in between floor levels while still be on the level you are in. So for example you're on the second level of the building and you hold shift + pg down, grid will be shown on the ground level instead of on the second level of the building.
Also just learned this recently, while placing wall trims, if you hold shift can control which side the trims will only show. Shift + control will also make you control which side of the trims will delete.

My computers arrow keys and pg up and down keys are the same how do I use the pg up and down keys
on console you can hold B and press A on a Sim to access a menu with some cheats like Make Happy, Remove/Add to Family, and Disable Need Decay, how do u get to that on PC?
Also if your num pad is disabled, clicking 9 and 3 will change the floor level on live and build mode. If it's on, the numbers will also count as pause/play and speed, except the pause button would be 0.

Do you have a non-English keyboard? I used to have a laptop that was similar to that. You might need to hold 'FN' at the same time as the hotkey. Hopefully, that helps out! Thank you for watching and commenting 💖💞
How do i size objects up and down in build mode if im on laptop. To get the bracket keys i have to hold down ctrl+alt+8 or 9 but it doesnt work

I have a serious issue with my Italian keyboard. I was a pro builder on PS4 and I always used to scale objects, but on PC my "[" and "]" buttons just zoom in and zoom out, respectively. This probably happens because they also are alternative buttons for "+" and "-", but even trying some other button combo I seem to be unable to get around this. Have you had any experience with foreigner keyboards such as mine? I searched a button list in game, like, to keep next to my builds, but i couldn't find it.

I don't have experience with foreign keyboards, but I did look into it a bit. Apparently you might be able to use an AutoHotKey program to remap some hotkeys. I don't have any experience with something like this so I can't help you out with it. It might be worth looking into though. I saw that people mentioned it in this forum: modthesims.info/t/533114

Heck yeah! You can see the ceiling when you go into the camera mode, by clicking tab on your keyboard. It's weird though, all of the ceilings are white

I know its been a while since this video was made. But is it possible to keep the interaction menu up while selecting interactions? Like talking to someone, I'm trying to add more than one interaction without having to go back through the menu each time. Or is there a mod that allows this?
There might be a mod for that, but I'm not too sure. If you want to select multiple interactions, unfortunately, you'll need to re-open the social menu for every single interaction.
hi, my sims 4 can't be played with first person view. steam overlay pop out everytime I click shift + tab
That's frustrating! I don't launch TS4 using Steam, but apparently, you can bind the Steam overlay to another key. You can do this through Steam > Settings > In-game. You'll find options to switch the overlay to something else in there! Hopefully, this helped you out 💖
Ive been playing this game for ages and ive only known that there was a goddamn FIRST PERSON MODE 😭
Is there any way to stop camera from "falling" while I paint outside walls or while putting windows? It's so annoying while I try to quicky put some windows on 5'th floor and I have to wait till my camera stops falling down slowly.
Unfortunately this sort of thing happens depending on the terrain/floor level/lot you're on. There's not really a way to stop it :(

Does anyone know what hotkey saves your camera placement and how to remove it because everytime I click a certain button it jumps my camera miles away from my Sims house. It is supper annoying and I have heard lilsimsie mention it, but I don't remember in which video.
When you want to say a camera position you need to click Ctrl + *whatever number you want form 5-8* for example Ctrl + 5 or Ctrl + 7

How do you do first person mode and go where YOU want to go ONLY?
To go into first person mode you click shift and tab. Then to get them to walk where you want them to you left click a spot on the floor and select go here. If you right click they seem to go to random places 😅

Are you by any chance using an Icelandic keyboard? I came across this thread: forums.thesims.com/en_us/discussion/845916/please-help-us that has some useful information if that's the case.
Particularly the comment that says "For me the resize button is å (finnish keyboard), I'd check out ð if I was you. Those are in the same place as [ for other people." It might be worth trying all of the keys that would be in a similar spot where the bracket keys go on North American keyboards.

It should all be the same except you'd click the ⌘ key rather than Ctrl. I don't use Mac, so I can't 100% confirm that though

That makes sense! For some reason, I *always* try to pause it with the spacebar because that's how you'd pause a YT video or a video playing in an editing software 😅
