I just roughly measured each section of pipe and made cuts accordingly. Get yourself one of those ratcheting pvc cutters. I dry fit the entire system and made marks with a sharpie from one piece to the next so I knew where to line the pieces back together when it came time to cement them. Once I was done I then took it all apart and cemented it together using oatley pvc cement. I leave it plugged in and running 24/7 unless my kiddo is in the pool. We only take it out because she’s a curious 18-month old and would want to play with it. I bought the filter on eBay. I believe it was 1,000 gph. We use a HydroTools Swimline mini tablet chlorinator dispenser. You can see it in the video. I usually put 3 of the 1” tablets in at a time. I bought them and the dispenser on Amazon along with a jar of 100 test strips. The pool water has not been changed in 2 weeks and it is as clear as the day I filled it and also not at all slimy/slippery.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. What a great idea. Been trying to figure a "quality" way to filter the kiddie pool without draping the hoses over the side of jerry-rigging onto the drains. Will be doing it this way FOR SURE. THANK YOU
Very clever idea & I believe this kind of setup will be what I need & thanks so much for sharing & including the list of items in the description that’s very helpful.
genius, that’s what i was looking for !
Went and bought all the pieces and parts this morning at HD. Came to about $80, including the PVC cutter tool thingy.
This seems to be the best fit i have the same pool
This is great. Will replicate this system. Would you mind share the type of chemicals, amount and how often you put in to maintain the pool? Thanks so much!
They are just small little chlorine tabs. I use 3 in the little chlorinator float and that seems to do the trick. I don't test the water, just make sure it stays clear.
We want to get a small pool line this for our deck. Looms like yours is on your deck as well? The weight of the water plus 2-4 adults will hold? What oool do you have and size? Was thinking 8ft
This is the exact pool we have. www.amazon.com/dp/B00OTJ5HZQ/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_dl_VKQ9R2H8KPJFVJRZ85AX?linkCode=ml2&tag=michaelhaynes-20
Thanks so much for posting this Michael. I really appreciate what you have done there. I am going to do this our little pool too. Can I ask what type of cement/glue that you used? Also, you said that this was 1 in. PVC…can I ask how much PVC you used? Thanks again- Angela
Sorry for the delay in responding, I never saw this. I think I had 2 10' sections of pipe. The cement and primer is Oakley brand I believe. Right next to the PVC pipes at Lowes.
Does the tube need to be empty before filling up with water? I couldn’t get it to filter, also how do I get all the air out?
What pieces were needed to build the vacuum? What kind of hose was that you used? Curious of the name so I can search it. Great video thanks!
It was just extra PVC pipe that I had left over and extra flexible hose that came with the pump.
@@michael8258 thanks, did you cut the hose to fit your setup? I just set mine up and I had to cut the tip off so the flexible hose would fit over the 1” pvc. I used machine clamps and plumbers tape to prevent leak but I have a slight leak on the exit line. The intake is tight, no leaks. I don’t want to cut more of the flex hose because I finally got a good seal on it. Just curious if you had any leak issues and if you cut your hose down?
@@titanart6225 I waited till it was quite warm and very carefully got it around the pvc.
Do you need to cement the pvc pipe if you need to disassemble for winter?
I have left it assembled and just store it under my deck for the winter.
Can I ask, do u cover ur pool? If so, what do u use?
I do not
Mike, do you use Algicide, Chlorine, Borax and Bleach?
Just some little pool tablets. I don't have a link to them, but it was a big bucket. 3 tablets do the trick for probably 10 days or so.
Good afternoon Sir. I apologize for bothering you and this may be a stupid question. Would you happen to have a video of you building the system?
Sorry, but I don't. I just eyeballed the height I wanted and the lengths I wanted.
Michael, I love the idea - I built one, and it seems to prime just fine, but then it doesn't seem to stay primed and run for longer than a few minutes. I notice that my filter hose comes in to the body of the filter about midway, while yours come in at the top. Could that be making a difference...?
I’d be surprised if that would be an issue. Just to confirm, you’re shutting the valves on the pvc once it is primed as well as tightening the vent at the top?
@@michael8258 correct, tightening all three. (I might just have a crummy pump)
@@michael8258 Turns out it was, indeed, a crummy pump. Switched out with a different one and it works perfectly. Thanks again!
@@grahamad Awesome!
I replicated this system. If only my pump worked properly. It's brand new, Intex krystal, like the one you have.
Not sure what to do. It's for a 4' x 4' x 12" kiddie pool for our goose. Any tips?
What’s not working?
Is it possible for you to give the measurements for each length?
No specific measurements. I just eyeballed the height I wanted and then made the same length pipe for the 4 legs. The horizontal pieces are all roughed, like I don't think the left side valve is the exact same length as the right side valve. It really doesn't matter.
Do you have to put air in pool every now and then?
Not typically.
Put this together today. Thanks Mike!
Does the pump lose prime every time it's turned off? Can i use a timer with it?
I don’t believe you would need to prime it again. It should stay primed, but just try unplugging it and plugging it back in to see what happens.
@@michael8258 Sweet, thanks! I'll be turning it on for the first time tomorrow.
Can you send me the set up
Did you have to fight with the tubing to get it over the 1” PVC?
Not too much. I left it out in the sun though so it was a little more pliable.
Does anyone have the direct link to the filter?
