Good luck and have fun on your pre-releases... My first one is in about 14 hours. Hope you guys pull some good stuff
Thanks. We had a blast. Off to the next one in a few minutes. Have a great time too. May all your pulls be legendary!
This is so exciting!!! Please let me know what yall get and I hope that you guys have a lot of fun!!!
We had a blast. It was great fun. I won 2-1 and both Mr Jeff won 1-2 so guess that makes me the channel champion 😏
Back on the next one soon. Are you not going to any?
@@oldboysnewtoys lol, congrats on that! I am so happy to hear that yall had a good time :D
I unfortunately can't. I have something I need to do for work that day and by the time i will get to my store, It will be about midnight. I am living vicariously through all of you atm
Stupid jobs always get in the way of having fun with your life. Hopefully you’ll have new cards to open on Friday
@@oldboysnewtoys You were channel Champ till we played at Worcester the following day..... lol
I was. However, I only get to play in 2 games out of 3 and still came 2nd 😏
There is lots of cards out there its just the absolutly best cards that are a bit too expensive for a lot of players but the replacements cards for those are a lot cheaper and in such supply you can get them almost free
Agreed, there is a lot of cards out there and hopefully the community will help but getting all those copies that are unwanted out to people. The sad thing is that the legendary and rare cards mostly really ramp up the power of decks so if you do not have any, it’s tough to compete
I don’t think a shortage of Set 2 is going to dramatically impact competitive play. From what I can see of proposed competitive decks, there is not a lot of Set 2 cards in them.
I feel that the community will need to step up to help keep this game alive. I’ve been giving out curated decks of commons and uncommons to friends to try to build interest.
I think you’re right for existing players with cards but it’s not going to help new people coming in
Last night one of the players there only had a starter set of SoR and could only find a starter set for SotG and he was struggling to stay excited as he needs cards to play
That’s really good of you to do that. I’m going to be doing it too so hopefully we can keep it going. As you can make pretty good ‘cheap’ decks
life day is november 17th. "real" "star wars" "fans" "would know this" as it would come up in their reaction video for THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL with special commentary from the fine fellas at rifftrax. (available for free viewing on youtube.)
cough.
cough.
I’m still not watching it, you can’t make me 😉😂
In my area it has been known for the last month that noone is going to get more than one box per person no matter how many you preordered. Some stores are getting so little that they had to cancel people's orders altogether. A few places increased their prices by 50% and still sold out of their allocation. I am going to get my prerelease kit packs but I do not really see me getting anymore cards for months.
Last week our play group was down to three players playing fun decks only. I actually showed the game to an interesting friend and when he expressed interest in it, I had to apologize and tell him that there is no way he is getting any boosters any time soon.
Better than what's happening in Asia, absolutely no support whatsoever.
It sucks that you won’t be getting anymore cards and the weekly play group has dropped as we all hoped set 2 would bring more people to tables. I think you’re correct in what you’re doing. Cheap cost decks are fun to create and play too as long as everyone plays along
@@oldboysnewtoys Thanks for the encouragement. You are actually correct about the new set bringing more people. We had 22 people come out for the prerelease on Saturday so there is still a lot of interest for the game. Some of those people were from out of town but we also had a few locals who did not know about the Saturday meetup. We also got a few new people who never played before. They are really excited about the game but did not preorder anything so might not be able to play due to lack of cards.
Most of the people who preordered were telling me that they were told by the stores are going to get the product they ordered so the shortages might have been only for 1-2 stores. We will see on Friday if people will get their orders.
I am sticking with my plan to build casual decks, mostly pauper stuff. I will also toss together a few basic decks for new people to borrow if they show up for the Saturday meetup.
That’s great news. 22 is a great number (especially being even so no one missed out). It’s great for the hobby and equally great for bringing money into the store.
We had a few new players at both even we attended and it was really enjoyable helping them build decks and playing cards and the rules. Hopefully it’s here to stay
But like you say, we’ll see what we all get on Friday and we all get what we’ve ordered
i am jealous. our prerelease is tomorrow at thirteen hundred. twenty four hours and forty five minutes to go. good luck, yall. pull some showcases!
You not attending?
@@oldboysnewtoys man, today turned out to be quite a day. it's just too dang late to go into the details right now.
I hope you had a better day today
@@oldboysnewtoys oh, i'm afraid not. it's my birthday today and to keep things from getting too festive, one of the cats gave birth today and lost four of the five kittens almost immediately. i am going to bury the fourth one now.
supposedly they started "reprinting" set two before they finished printing it. that's why set two is "being released in waves." while set one has to go back to the printer for a complete retooling. the set one reprint should be started when the third set is done printing. set three will not be delayed and i would expect that the amount of set one that they will reprint will, i dont believe, not be that massive, as most people on a budget will be working on set three. most of the set one cards will be close to rotating out by then anyways.
I think you could be right. As more sets arrive, less of the first set will be playable. Some leaders will be needed and I think there are cards like power of the dark side and vigilance and cunning cards will stay and only increase in cost
does any know a semi affordable way to acquire foreign language cards in america? it really dont matter which one. hell, i'd be chill with getting some "U's" in my flavor text.
Not me, sorry
You cannot discount the fact that MTG sets have kinda sucked for a few sets now. That has a bigger impact than anything with how well they sell.
Indeed they have. Also, I think they’re releasing them too fast and the prices are getting stupid too
i was all ready to refute the claim that swu is hurting mtg. so i checked their subs numbers. i knew ffg sits at about 80k, but i had assumed that magic would have had better than a mil but no, not even 600k, dnd barely breaks 500k. ouch. so yeah it is quite probable that wizards is pooping they panties as we speak. i quit collecting mtg permanently and started collecting swu kinda like how methadone "works" in a deal with the wife cuz she's always hated magic, but i'm definately not these types of games typical demographic being dirt poor. the though of getting a complete set of anything is a pipe dream at this point. especially at the rate they have been sithing stuff onto the market at wotc.
i hope they do kill magic over the next, what? eight sets left to go in the next two and a half years?
that wood bee hilarious.
i doubt they will do it unless they get their sith together enough to be able to stock walmart and target shelves alongside magic, pokemon, and yu gi oh. that's where grammas are buying cards for christmas.
Overall, SWU is a much better game than MtG too. We just need to see if it has the legs. Only issue is the SW IP will not attract all people
