  • We recently got to spend a little more than a week with the Warwick Aperio headphone system, and spent them time listening to old classics and discovering new music as well. $35,000 is a lot of money for headphones - even when they throw in the amp and DAC with it. Does Aperio offer a 5-figure level of Pinnacle-Fi performance?

In the world of cars, this would be hypercar level, the thing most of us will never be able to own. Thanks for the review

This is truly a one of a kind outstanding "Entire Headphone System" so yes like many high end components it's at the very Apex of the high end and is expensive . So that as a starting point it is a complete including all their own custom cables. My only quest relates to your comments on the Bass performance. Can you elaborate a bit more as several other reviews conflict with that assessment a bit mentioning the Bass to be the one area it may be a bit light? You indicate in addition to the quality of the bass it can actually "rumble" in its presentation with power? There is no question on everything else it does, some rate it as even better overall than the SENN $ 70k showpiece system HE-1?

Hey - I think I responded to your email as well. Short version: I haven't had quite enough time to make a fair comparison with the HE-1 - one element being that I had an Aperio at my desk to try out different DACs and EQ via Roon. From what I've had extended listening with (a few Stax including SRX9000, DCAs models, CRBN, Bravura) Aperio had the best bass of any e-stat I've heard. Based on other impressions I've seen, HE-1 may be the one that beats Aperio in bass though.

I can only imagine what a system of this caliber must sound like.

Have you ever auditioned electrostatic headphones? 🎧

I have heard Stax, owned a used pair of SR-40's? back in the day for a brief time but they really hurt my head. I'm not certain of the exact model designation anymore. I haven't heard anything electrostatic since and my understanding if that they are outstanding while being bass shy and expensive and finicky when it comes to dust and keeping them free of it. I think about buying a pair from time to time but have refrained.

I would just prefer to give it to animal rescue than buy this .

@@marklloyd4153but people who buy these have enough money to buy these and on top give money for rescue animals if they want to. I know people who spend 50k for cables only.
