SHOW NYC Renato Jordan

Public space and the processes of seeing and being seen that take place within it are the focus of painter and photographer Renato Jordan. This dynamic between the observation of others and the display of the observer himself is now captured in fragmentary form in mobile phone recordings - which have themselves almost become a symbol of the social - and presented again in the form of the exhibition.
However, the exhibited works do not show the public space as its apparently simple depiction. Rather, the images, which document living together in New York, experience a distortion through digital processing and montage, which means that the observation itself is experienced and questioned differently.
In its formal emphasis on speed and the construction of connections, the work stands in the tradition of cinematic metropolitan symphonies and reflects the changed conditions of the modern dream of the metropolis (JJ)
