    As far as gold goes, the other team was combo ulting and was swapping heroes and coordinating flanks, while the main team was just kind of picking their noses the whole time

      As far as I’ve seen, Gold varies immensely. Basic coordination and hero swaps as well as decent aim and positioning happens a lot at gold, but it’s linear. For example, a Widow might peak the same angle, so she’s easy to avoid/kill.

    I think something this brig can work on is not hyperfocusing on who they want to hit with their whip shot. A lot of the times, they'll just stare at an enemy for 2-3 seconds trying to aim their whipshot during which they aren't doing anything. in general, this brig also doesn't look around much, something a support in particular should be doing a lot. Priorities: keeping track of where team is and who's likely going to engage first and need a pack, position of your other healer, and your position to balance between proccing inspire and keeping distance to not die

    their game knowledge doesnt seem terrible but their reaction speed is like a toddler looking at fast cars. they shield , bash, heal and melee like 1 second after they should have. that and game sense are the largest issues here

    I say they really need to up their shield sensitivity. They can barely turn when holding the shield up and if you need to make a quick 180 turn and escape with bash that's impossible without a higher sensitivity. They looked like they're on controller so there's no other solution really.

    Maining Brig is prolly one of the most rewarding thing I’ve got since I started playing OW2. What gives her her powerful value is her Inspire and making sure that it’s always active is very important. Most of the time I check my scoreboard stat to track my inspire uptime percentage and to see if I’m getting enough value, the percentage should be ranging from 30% minimum to 50% at most. Also, shield management is very important, since it’s basically your 2nd life. Swinging like crazy even if no one is around is also something you might want to make a habit of. Add to that is a Brig that keeps on dying is a useless Brig, so I always make sure my shield bash is ready for escape and use it only to finish up a sure elim.

  • @whoahanant
    @whoahanant Před 9 měsíci +15

    I think they need to focus on their reaction times and what they want to do.
    They went in for the Bastion but they backed way out, slowly and slowly turning all at the same time. It was like they didn't know what to do after they got a kill.
    Had they just turned back to their team or just walked backwards towards their team they would've regrouped rather than being singled out in the open just shielding like they did.
    I think being more confident is something you need. You had the confidence to go in for the Bastion and went through with it but had no confidence on what to do afterwards. They're moving a bit too slow to things that need to be dealt with. Like a full 1 or 2 second delay.

  • @Real_MisterSir
    @Real_MisterSir Před 9 měsíci +6

    There is one simple thing they need to focus on: Ability uptime. Look to be in positions from which you can whip every time it comes off cooldown, to proc inspire. Every 5th second you should be in position to whip an enemy reliably - and use Shield bash to disengage if potential lethal threat closes in on your position - rinse and repeat. Use Rally as often as possible to secure an advantage in 50-50 fights, and only hold on to it if you know the enemy has a key ultimate tied to a win condition (like a dps ult).
    Really, uptime uptime uptime. It's all there is to it. This player has the foundation to play really well, they understand the basics of when to disengage from damage, they just aren't using the right toolset to do so. If you ever have whip be off cooldown for more than 2 seconds, you should question your own existence. Why are you playing Overwatch, if you don't try to play Overwatch? Why are you wasting time? Why are you decreasing your uptime for no reason? Don't chase ball going in your backline, don't stray.
    Just focus on always being in position to whip/flail to proc inspire, and keep bash to disengage back to a safer position. Bash is a reposition ability first and foremost. Damage with bash is last resort. If your ally support is in danger, armor pack them. If a dps is critical hp, armor pack them. But you yourself should solely focus on keeping inspire up and your general ability uptime near its max at all time. That's how you improve.

    Masters brig here and I think this brig played well in general especially for gold. Good accuracy on whipshots, packs were pretty good, and avoided wasting ults on lost fights. Also generally stayed back instead of playing like Rein, which is already huge for gold brigs.
    -More timely healing for fellow support like Emongg said. First fight was lost due to late healing of LW
    -More timely healing for Reaper when he goes on dives. When his health goes down too far, he has to wraith out and his "turn" is over. Extend his "turn" for as long as possible by keeping him healed when he goes in.
    -Vs. Genji, don't bash toward him. Rocket flail him and bash away. You want him to be near no one with no dash so he's useless. Don't rally vs. Genji because he can still kill you easily and stun doesn't help as much as you think it will.
    -Vs. Bastion, wait out turret mode and don't bash in as in 5:58. It's not your job to kill him and if you bash in, you have nothing to help you get out safely.
    -When in danger, especially getting ulted, use shield bash to get to cover (close call 3:25, getting beamed 13:32, getting bladed 14:15). I think this is a low sens issue.

    • @Schlenkelg0d
      @Schlenkelg0d Před 6 měsíci

      Bro, what are you telling me, I'm a master brig myself and can tell you that neither his positioning was good nor the healing packs nor his whipshots were well placed
      He always took a very long time to aim and hit, then every time he let the reaper die when the reaper's flank didn't protect his support, nothing protected him and he hardly used his shield but just ran blindly backwards without a shield
      Plus you can bash a Genji very well, especially if it uses the deflect because the bash is one of the only abilities that can damage Genji plus the Genji to 1 v 1 is very easy, so that's not a good tip from you for the bastion and si However, I agree with you
      So that wasn't even silver level, we both know that

    I'm fairly certain this is console. You can see the aim assist kick on and pull the crosshair to Genji at 5:35.
    Some console specific advice, aim assist is pretty aggressive on default, you can set the size of the aim assist to 0 and it will only apply aim assit when your crosshair is directly on target... though I'm unsure if that will help Brig... you can also disable aim assist, which will help a lot of things in Brig's kit, but the whipshot accuracy will probably decrease.
    If you don't bump up your sensitivity, you cannot quickly shield bash out. Dual Zone sensitivity will be pretty good for this, but if you can't go higher than don't.
    And finally, if you don't think you belong in Gold because of what you see on CZcams or whatever, console gold is a lot different, so I'd say you're about where you should be.

    I think the key to playing Brig is to not tunnel vision on what's going on with your 3 other teammates, your focus should be on keeping the other support alive and protected. She's the anti-dive support for a reason. The other support can focus on healing the rest of the team (this is assuming the other support is a main healer), Brig needs to focus purely on keeping them up whilst they do that. That's not to say they shouldn't get aggressive, but it's more about situational awareness, timed aggression and staying within eyesight of the other support at all times. As for packs: keep them for that support unless a Genji/Tracer is diving their backline, inspire will do for the rest unless their HP is critical and they're being focus fired (at which point there's not much more you can do for them).
    Everything else is what others in this comment section have covered. It's all practice till perfect.
    Summarised:
    Work on situational awareness: experience in the game will help with this more than any guide.
    Understand that Brig is designed to pocket and protect the other support; so stick near them and focus on their HP and safety the most.
    Learn repair kit priority: other support > flanker/tank > other dps.
    Inspire is your best friend: staying alive and keeping inspire uptime high will lead to more won teamfights.

      They were hyperfocusing way too much on that ball tho for zero reason. Not playing well at all, even if the impression was that they at least were more active because an objective kept rolling into them rather than the player having to seek out objectives of their own.

    In all honesty, for someone who's first videogame and fps game is overwatch 2, and them playing for like half a year, this aint that bad.
    What they could improve upon is general is awareness of whats going on around them and reacting to whats going on.
    Its very possible they get overwhelmed a bit though as a video game for people who have not played them for years can look incredibly chaotic and overwhelming.
    I also get the feeling that they play without a (good) headset on as they got suprised by the zarya being behind them a couple of times.
    Having a good headset will help you to know whats going on behind you and if you even need to turn around or not.

  • @SGuy715

    I feel like MOST metal ranks, the game is putting you where you belong. The exception maybe being stuck in super low bronze and cant get any team coordination whatsoever. Not to say your current rank now is where you belong forever, but more of an opportunity to discover what new things you need to learn and improve on as gameplay enhances.
    Now, as you get higher, I think it comes down to consistency. I find you can always improve on things to get to the next rank, but from my experience its more reliant on not only your consistency, but also team consistency. One season I grinded like crazy and made it into GM, the next barely staying in Diamond, and now currently struggling to straddle the line between Diamond and Master. Sometimes we'll win games where I'm subpar and the worst support in the lobby but my team is sweet, other times we'll lose when everybody is playing great but our DPS went Pharah Echo into soldier, dva, bastion, bap, ana and went tragically negative lol.
    But if the game thinks youre gold, youre definitely gold. Maybe you just havent adjusted and gotten used to what is needed to keep you consistent in gold.

      @Siks7Ate9 Před 8 měsíci

      If you are in deep bronze thought it could be hard to climb our, but I feel like as soon as someone stops inting into a bastion and just waits at the corner for example they are already getting more value.
      Deep bronze players can basically improve upon anything to get them out there eventually even if their team is still deep bronze. If you dont die 15 times due to a bastion you got 15 more times the chance to kill him and save another teammate.

    I don't think this person should be playing brig, and if they want to they need to learn her survivability and combo. Shield bash was barely used for mobility, whipshot was pretty much just to prock inspire, and rally was just extra health.
    I tend to be a very aggressive brig who waits just behind the front line, as close to it as I can without being the tank, and I watch for flanks or anyone singled out. When that happens I'll pounce and delete them with her bash whip melee combo then get back out to safety. Ult I use to be a temporary second tank in emergencies, or more often to secure harder kills, like a turreted bastion or genji in ult. Playing brig is all about that balance of being passive at times and aggressive at other times which only happens with decent understanding of her kit.

    I don't think saying you don't deserve your rank is fair, not just for this game. to be honest at the beginning of the game you seemed lost, but as a brig you improved. Some things you need to understand as a brig, Inspire is the second most important thing, staying alive is the first. Shield Bash is for movement, it is for you to get out of dangerous situations or get close to vulnerable enemies. If you only use it for damage you will end up at risk with no means of escape, and you will end up dying. Another thing you can do is use Repair Pack on allies who are ulting to improve the chances of success. a tip is also not to be so "spectator" in games, instead of waiting for something to happen make something happen, the whole game your team stayed at the enemy pace.. If you follow emongg he talks about positioning and in general it is the basis of the game.

    I feel like this Brig might soon want to consider the value of getting the enemy team to shoot at her instead of her team. As long as you arent dying or wasting resources to do it, distracting the enemy team, especially if you can distract supports - can be incredibly valuable. If they are looking at you and not your team, you're mitigating damage or even healing. The easiest way to do that is to whipshot someone and then raise your shield - squishies especially *hate* when you do this so there's a good chance they either shoot you or run away themselves.

      linguistically speaking, the 'LL' in both spanish and quechua is classically meant to be a Voiced Palatal Lateral Approximant. like an L, but you use the body of your tongue instead of the tip, and widen the blades of the tongue as to force air through the sides. try widening your mouth and blowing while you get the mouth shape down. when you hold the sound, it sounds like a strangled L, and releasing it brings in the Y-sounding part. using it comfortably as any other consonant is another issue entirely, of course. using just an L, Y, or combination of both passes well enough.

How is someone who keeps missing their shots, is basically unaware of their surroundings and who spams abilities as soon as they're ready gold when I'm regularly placed in bronze since years? I'm decent at abilities usage and I know how to counter ultimates and dives, as well as swapping to counters for the enemy team. I do have a high sense of situational awareness and I ping flanking enemies multiple times. I safely stay enough back, behind cover or in high ground when I can to avoid exposing myself and, in fact, I'm the last one to die in team fights usually. I peel for the other support and I know how to use support ults to change the tide of the battle. However I'm always put into matchmaking with bronze people who literally just installed the game and they do constantly stuff like going in front of their tank or trying to 1 vs 5 the whole enemy team. They overextend and then blame me if I'm not exposing myself in the widowmaker's line of sight to heal them lol. Season after season I get placed to bronze and I gave up. I literally have smarter players in quickplay to be honest.

    yeah they're definitely in the wrong rank, gold players react faster than them plus they look lost most of the time

    The Brig play in this game was high silver/low gold. Map and team comp can change performence a lot so I'm thinking this was a bad game and they're actually just low to mid gold.

      brigs passive and her main form of healing. it is triggered by doing damage and it heals 15hp/s in a 20m radius for 5 seconds. keep in mind that it does not stack so you dont have to keep doing damage for the duration, but try to get a hit or whipshot off every 5 seconds to keep it up.

    Watching this makes me feel frustrated. I know I’m better than this, but I’m also Gold 5…I just don’t know. I know the obvious response is - if you are Gold 5 then that’s where you belong, but I know I have more awareness than this.
    On a related note…do you think it’s better to 1-trick? Or swap to counter?

      Honestly, rank is what it is. If you go in with the core mindset that you simply wish to improve and play better each week, then it doesn't really matter where on the ladder you end up, or how many games you win/lose while mmr tries to figure out where you belong. Your actual skill is not determined by what rank you're in, but rather at what rate you're able to improve. Rate of improvement is the real skill on display, rank just shows your temporary position.
