      I watched thay game. Everything was falling for the nets in that game. I was finding myself saying "come on" everytime a deep 3 was made or a circus shot in the paint dropped. I was happy to see giddy attack the paint but it would have been nice to see j dub do the same. He's big and can definitely cause heartache for defenders on a night to night basis.

    I think shipping out bridges for the right trade package of a young upside player and some picks makes the most sense. Id look to move on dfs, royce, spence, and prob claxton and johnson too for the right deals. Not having your own picks is not that bad if you have other teams picks.
    You acquire a young or two players to build around and bring in talent around them with the picks. If the team suck it’s at least good for the young talents to get minutes. If you are good then there’s no problems at all.

    • @blablablaa14
      @blablablaa14 Před 5 měsíci

      You also can always acquire picks on draft day. And how many great players come from the 20-30th picks that are always available? So many guys get picked late, not even talking Jokic, but like Maxi, Derrick White, Dejounte Murry, Jaime Jaquez all of those people could help a team rebuild

      No it is bad when youre a lottery team whoes getting a playoff teams picks.....Its literally the worst position to be in, in the NBA. I dunno what kinda copium youre smoking but being a bad team who doesnt have their own picks means you have less options on getting better. Theyve done it for over almost a decade now lol. This cycle of going all in for guys, doing it half assed and then feeding those stars hand and foot only to realize they built a team that doesnt work and then they try their best to recoup.....all of this while they are going from literal bottom feeders to a playoff appearance and then back down. They did it with the Celtics trade obviously, then sucked, lost out on Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum (two All-NBA caliber players, one of them being an MVP caliber player), then they actually did something good and built a good team around D-Lo.....and then sold him to recoup draft picks.... then went all in with Kyrie, Harden and Durant, once again traded UNPROTECTED draft picks (as if they didnt learn their lesson the first time)......made the playoffs, got swept by the two guys you essentially traded away......blew it up and got picks that are projected to be in the late lottery at best. Dont be an idiot man, theyre a terrible franchise thats being run by actual potatoes. They need to stop trying to hit home runs and build a proper basketball team. It is literally the worst situation to be in as an organization, maybe you could argue having someone like Donald Sterling as an owner could be slightly worse....but its close.

    Nets fans wanting to trade Mikal now sounds crazy to me. Only sensible Mikal trade is with Houston to get our picks back. The value of the other team picks are too speculative that it makes bottoming out too uncertain to develop any form of long term rebuild strategy. If we don’t get our picks back then we need to do something similar to Toronto and prioritize players over picks.
    As for tradeable assets,
    Claxton is elite and an incredible asset but he requires a specific roster construction that plays switching defense to really thrive. With Sharpe and Clowney already in the pipeline and given their proven track record for developing bigs it makes Claxton and the 5 a little more redundant. Which in my opinion makes him the most expendable sell high trade piece.
    Good 2 way wings are the most difficult pieces to come by in the league. And it is required for any true contender. Therefore we should keep all the 20 something yr old price controlled pieces. (eg Twins and Jalen Wilson).
    Cam Thomas is the X factor so I’d rather keep him. But he is ultimately tradeable for scorers like Donovan Mitchell.
    Everyone else is available for trades. Don’t think there’s any legit superstar trades available at this time so Nets should be open to targeting borderline stars (Siakam/Lauri) at the right price or promising young players (Kuminga/Moody). Or a proper PG to hold them over cuz Dinwiddie just isn’t cutting it. (Like TJ McConnell or Tyus Jones)

    It’s like I said before, Mikal is very good player but he’s not a 1st or 2nd option and you shouldn’t build your team around him. There’s a reason why he had his most efficient season when he was a 3rd or 4th option. Brooklyn quite frankly is wasting their time

    I honestly think their big issue is not establishing some sort of culture. the last 5 years they had about 2 to 3 changes to its culture. From the Bench mob Nets featuring, Kenny Atkinson & DLO. To the KD & Kyrie focused team, to the Super team era, back to the KD & Kyrie era and now they are just without any sort of idea as to what kind of team they are. I personally think they need a coaching change and bringing some players that really can establish a winning culture or the very least a fun culture where alot of people can get behind. But right now, The front office has to really figure out where they wanna go and who are they willing to get rid of or add by trade deadline or by the offseason this year.

    The Nets have a team in which most of their guys that I would consider to be good are in their 30's or close to it. Mikal Bridges, Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O'Neal, Spencer Dinwiddie, Cam Johnson, ALL of these guys are 27 years old or older. Most of them are already 30. Hell even Ben Simmons is 27 already. If I'm the Nets I'm unloading everyone for draft picks and the ONLY guys I'm keeping are the guy who are 24 years of age and younger. Cam Thomas, Nic Claxton, Day'Ron Sharpe, Noah Clowney, Dariq Whitehead. Keon Johnson and maybe Lonnie Walker. EVERYONE else can go for young talent and picks.
    As a Pacers fan I would love a guy like Mikal Bridges or Cam Johnson or DFS, but the Nets need to hit the hard reset button. They're just wasting everyone's time is what they're doing and the sooner they press reset the sooner they can get back to being competitive. They're like the Chicago Bulls right now. A lot of players with no real direction who simply don't fit their time frame for the young guys they have.

    The Nets are in a weird spot.. In my opinion, they should've just extended Kyrie last year and keep running with him and Durant because all their picks belong to Houston until 2028. Brooklyn is a team that really couldn't afford to "reset," they had to keep 7/11 until the wheels fell off. But now that we're here, they need to pick a direction as you suggested. Their "direction" is to build around Mikal Bridges, but that's not a direction, it's accepting mediocrity at best. They absolutely should deal Dinwddie and Royce to contending teams, hopefully netting first round picks. Maybe even trade Claxton if it gets them a good young PG because this team lacks a PG badly. Either way, gotta pick a direction by the summer, can't keep doing whatever this is

    Simply put, the Nets made a big mistake thinking that Mikal could be a #1 or even #2 on a quality team. He's a very good player, just not that. Leads to two options:
    1) Trade Bridges, as well as any other players you can get draft capital for and completely restart. As said in the video, you need to think of the picks owed to Houston as a sunk cost, just get what you can now, those don't matter and don't affect the Nets. The Suns picks could be very valuable in 2-3 years time, the 76ers pick too, so keep accumulating firsts to build a new core that could go further, assuming Sean Marks can draft well.
    2) Double down and trade for Donovan Mitchell. Probably would require dealing at least 2 of Cam Thomas, Cam Johnson, DFS, and Nic Claxton, as well as 3 firsts. Given the Heat probably won't even ponder giving up Herro and Jaime for Spida, as well as the Knicks not seemingly having much interest in pairing him with Brunson, I think Spida would re-sign in Brooklyn long term if traded there. It puts the Nets in the playoff conversation again and although they aren't with the group of the top 5 or so EC teams, once they get off Ben Simmons' contract, they could nab another star on the free agent market in 2025 like Brandon Ingram, Jamal Murray, or either of the LA Clippers' stars, and that would put them in the contenders discussion again.

  • @HoopsAficionado
    @HoopsAficionado Před 5 měsíci +1

    Bottoming out is not a wise strategy for the Nets given the fact that they owe all those first round picks to Houston from the Harden trade. They should try to keep their best players, especially Mikal. They should also try to re-sign Claxton. They can think of blowing it up when they've regained control of their picks. Until then, try to attain at least the sixth seed and be competitive.

    I'm honestly fine with selling to an extent. We have the rookies we drafted like Jalen Wilson, Noah Clowney, and Dariq Whitehead that we can continue to develop for the rest of the season.
    If I had to guess who's getting traded, it's more than likely Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O'Neale, or Spencer Dinwiddie. I know the Lakers have been linked to DFS and Royce for quite some time, and we can snatch their 2029 1st round pick since it's the only one LA can actually trade away as well as possibly take on some of the young assets like Christie and Hood-Schifino.
    Since the Nets have already decided they're not trading Bridges, i'm hoping Cam Johnson gets dealt, I know "The Twins" are inseparable, but CJ's near $25M a year contract is being proven to be a bad one. I honestly hope he gets dealt, preferrably to Houston and try to get some of our draft capital back. We can also take a couple of their young assets and develop them too.
    The main issue, however, facing the Nets from being contenders is the coaching. JV is a great guy, but he is a bad coach, there's no excuses for him anymore. Dennis Smith Jr. actually praised assistant coach Kevin Ollie for his defensive scheming, so i'm hoping he gets the call up to be the new head coach. We've seen his track record with the UConn Huskies, why not give him a chance to see what he can do with the squad we have. 🤷‍♂

Maybe they don't have enough assets to get there, idk. But they do have a bunch of other teams' picks and some appealing young players. I think Houston might be willing to do some trading but it would make the Nets front office look really bad. Houston has some assets to deal if the Nets want to tank the next few years. Jalen Green plus salary filler players and the pick swaps for Bridges and Claxton. Green isn't progressing quickly and many are down on him but he has been looking better in recent games. Landale could be added along with Olidepo to get salaries to match. Houston probably has better options for these assets than Bridges and Claxton if they wait but there is pressure for Houston to be better now.

    Nets cannot tank. They don't have their own picks. Nets would need a point guard who can score a lot and be a good playmaker. Maybe available Donovan Mitchel, Dejante Murray, Jordan Clarkson...

      The issue is i really dont think we have options for a pg that would make a difference, Mitchell would be great but i dont think we have the package without including Johnson and alot of picks etc and even then im not sure the cavs say yes.. including bridges would make the deal pointless from a nets point of view imo and im not even sure Mitchel himself would see us as a better option to where he already is. And certainly every other team trying to trade for him would likely offer a better opportunity for him.

      Do you like this trade?
      Warriors get: Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney Smith, Royce O’neal
      Nets get: Moses Moody, Kuminga, Chris Paul (can buy his contract out), 2026 first round pick, 2028 (top 5 protected) first round pick

    • @Roc_Official
      @Roc_Official Před 5 měsíci

      @@Grievous_ I actually do like that trade idea. The Nets get 2 younger players who can get more opportunity / minutes to develop. A younger core with Clax, Mikal, Cam Johnson, Kumiga and Moody are not bad building blocks. As for the Warriors, they get solid role players that can play 3 and D (Royce and Finny) and a playmaker / shot creator in Spencer. These players can help the Warriors in a WIN NOW situation, which they need because you want to maximize Curry’s abilities while he is still playing great. The Warriors still need a big in my opinion but that’s another issue.

    • @Grievous_
      @Grievous_ Před 5 měsíci

      @@Roc_Official Yea because all I see is people saying we should trade for Siakam but I think getting 3 and D wings that can shoot and Dinwiddie would benefit us a lot more than just Siakam, imagine a lineup of Curry, Royce O’neal, Wiggins, DFS, and Draymond! That’s literally defense and 3’s, or a lineup of Curry, Klay, O’neal, DFS and Draymond more 3’s and still great defensively! And if the Warriors wanna go full on defense then imagine a lineup of O’neal, Wiggins, DFS, Draymond and Trayce Jackson Davis I mean good luck scoring on that 😂 I know that lineup wouldn’t feature a point guard but that’s where Draymond’s playmaking abilities come in

    We’re you suggesting that Derrick white is the reason their whole season turned around in the ladder half of that year? Also I agree with a a lot of your points, but I still believe the argument that they aren’t a tough enough team is still just as valid today as it was in previous years. Why? Because Tatum and brown are the core of that team, and those two have the same issue as AD. They can’t recover from missing shots, they get flustered, they haven’t yet shown much of a killer instinct, and part of that is that they’re too nice and complacent. It just something that doesn’t seem to be in their nature. Now wait… before you get on me callling me a casual, or say that’s something Stephen A would say…😂- the reason I say that, and the reason I believe it’s important (even though this era doesn’t believe that kind of thing matters) is because Tatum and Brown are the the ones who will get the ball at the end of the game. If you need a bucket etc… if they’ve been soothing 38% from the field all night( or brown has had 11 turnovers that night -they’ve shown they can’t have a short memory, put it out of their mind and come up the court with the attitude that “I’m getting a bucket and no one will stop me” I haven’t seen it. How will you close out a series without that intangible? How you gonna close out a west conference final game 6 on the road when you’re not that guy. How will you close out a FINALS when the two guys who will be looked at to do so do not have that in them on or off the court. They’re not KG, Mike, Kobe, Ja, Luka, or as max Keller man would want “I WANT IGUOADALA” 😂. They just don’t have that edge. And in a sport where you have to win by 15 in order to win by 2 and close out a series… then I can’t say that this team is tough. They’re not. They’re great. But not tough. If Tatum had Jimmy Butlers attitude he’d be the consensus #1 in the league. Just my two cents.
    Thanks

    Im a Nets fan who watches every game. It would have been good to get something going on the Bridges timeline, however if there isnt a Mitchell trade there (or another similar scorer/primary ball handler) then i think now would be the best time to trade the twins. Neither are number ones, and on the contracts they have we are just wasting our time, and theirs, without putting a primary scoring PG out there with him.. Personally id like to prioritze keeping Clax, but they way JV has hadled Thomas has been bad imo. Im not the biggest Cam fan and i hate his D, but overall i cant see JV being our coach and Thomas flourishing. I think if we cant get the PG trade we need (and by this i mean keeping everyone we just mentioned and sending out dinwiddie/DFS/Royce etc and picks) then we should maybe look to get a coach in who is going to look to build around Cam and Clax with more trust.
    No matter what we do, running thjis current lineup with current rotations is imo the worst of all options.

    Us nets fans been going through it.
    The second I heard that our organization had plans to try and still build around bridges I was livid. It doesn’t make sense. He isn’t a star sort of player man. I wouldn’t mind moving him to the rockets to get at least 2 of our picks pack and a young player or 2. Players like dinwiddie, Royce and dfs are all players that should be moved. I never really liked dinwiddie and dfs and Royce are 2 vet wings that a lot of contending teams would want and I think it’s there we can continue to try and build young. Mikal can definitely be moved and so can cam Johnson. Johnson is really just a scorer and mikal has dropped defensively so we gotta move him now while his value may be well, but not higher than it was than in the off-season sadly where ppl were offering 4 firsts for him. Maybe we can get 2 firsts.
    Cam Thomas is a player idk if the nets are confident in being a core piece even though I love the guy and I think he has star potential. Dayron sharpe is having his best season yet and is continuing to grow. Claxton has plateaued a bit but has improved in area like free throws. I think clax deserves 15-17 mil but no higher than that. I feel like he could get more if our defensive scheme improved cause it’s very very poor right now.
    I love the young 1 year contracts we got in Lonnie walker and trendon watford that have been such good additions to this team and I hope we keep them for the future. Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney have been well in the g league and can be good additions to the team right now. Wilson is a potential steal in the draft too.
    As for coaching and front office, Sean marks may have hit the nail on certain additions to the team but signing Vaughn long terms was such a bad idea. I never liked it and idk how they gave him an extension for basically going 18-2 during the regular season. THE MAN CANNOT COACH, he was horrible as a coach in Orlando. I get stability but with how I see Ime Udoka and the rockets defense right now and saying man he was once part of our coaching staff and we didn’t sign him cause the nba wants to intervene. Like come on man. As of late we have been hearing players reference their inspiration from Kevin Ollie one of our assistant coaches and not Vaughn that says stuff to me.
    I’m all in trading mikal, Johnson,dinwiddie, Royce and dfs to see what we can get from teams before the trade deadline. The lack of direction is definitely scaring me and I hope we make a decision before it’s too late. I don’t think Sean marks will be getting an extension as a GM and I would LOVE if Bob Myers became the GM for the nets.

    The Nets probably need to eventually trade Mikal Bridges. It's not quite as dire as the Jazz situation with Markkanen because Markkanen is about to get a max extension while the Nets still have a year or two with Bridges at reasonable money... but it's coming.
    The Jazz and Nets need to realize that while they're great players they're not guys you can build a championship team around. You just can't. So you either have to use your assets to trade for that elite guy to put Markkanen/Bridges next too. Or you just have to move Markkanen/Bridges for more assets and maximize everything... your asset pool, books, flexibility, etc.
