Small correction, Tokaido can go either direction. The rules do give the option for future plays to go from East to West instead of the standard West to East

Thank you! I'm almost loosing my mind with impatience awaiting my copy! :D (man, that box is big!) The organized fish reminds me of Azul, although this is much simpler.
PS My guys have that design of cat box, too!
My favorite 'fish' themed game is "Hey, that's my fish!" - although very different to Tokaido/Namiji.
My Namiji copy hasn't even shipped yet...I think I'm in the last wave.
This seems very cool and the artwork immediately reminded me of Tokaido.

The mini game reminds me of Tapestry actually.
So far, what I've experienced with namiji is the waiting game... still waiting for my copy of the game..🙃
The dexterity game Lets Go Fishing that is battery powered gets a lot of play at my board game cafe 😂. The moving memory game Lucky Duck also gets a lot of play. Really enjoy fishing for cards in Scythe with my leader. Just running the map to see what free stuff my Leader can grab 😂
Been horrible KS, but drawing to an end. Shame they changed boat board, liked the original look. Still that aside, the rest looked great. Thanks again for sharing your opinions.
I played Namiji and found it a step down to Tokaido. Disappointed with the KS buy. What I really miss the most were the asymmetric abilities of the characters. In Namiji all the boats are the same. Why go to all that trouble making so many pretty (painted in deluxe) boats? Compared to all Tokaido has to offer up to date, I found Namiji very bland, a dumbed down copy that is just hanging on to Tokaido's master piece, while leaving some of the best parts out. True, the art is beautiful. Maybe I should hang it on the wall... It could redeem itself by adding cards with interesting abilities to the boats, specific to the fishing theme, and preferable totally different from Tokaido's.
