- Ryan’s RX-4 has undergone a few changes since we last saw it. Primarily the 13B rotary engine now features a Promaz billet front plate as well as a FuelTech FT500 computer. The guys were out testing on lower boost where the Mazda ran a personal best pass.

old school rwd cars are great for quick times and are harder to find nowadays
Love rotary engines , pity emission laws killed them off . Always remember my first encounter with a RX4 . XY 351 Fairmont , got my arse handed to me by a very stock looking RX4 . Couldn't believe how quick it was . I'm still amazed 40 years later , how these tiny engines make so much power . Still sound like a fart , though .

What size radials was it on 255/60 ?

sciboracing yeah theyre a max of 210s in that class ...id say more like 195 like Sea Doo said
it will be a 26x8.5" mickey thompson slick, non radial. (equivalent size of 235 road tyre)
what does a billet front plate do?
Added reliability under high boost. 13Bs tend to crack the front plate.
What scibo said. It's sort of equivalent to piston engine guys using billet blocks and cylinder heads. Billet components are made of better material and are usually a lot thicker and more rigid where it counts which means they tend to hang together at high boost. Stud kits can only do so much using standard cast components. The metal is forced apart by the pressure between the studs.
