    Deals with the operation of the fuel pressure limiter or regulator. Also explains safety issues in dealing with newer piezoelectric Diesel injection systems. Common rail Diesel fuel injection is now the state of the art in engine injection. The Bosch Piezoelectric (crystal) injector operates using a crystal stack, usually Quartz, that changes size when energized. The piezoelectric effect states that when a crystal such a Quarts is squeezed an electric current is generated. By the same token, when electricity is applied to the crystal is changes shape. This minute change in crystal size is used to trigger a small fuel chamber on and off. In turn, this chamber creates a pressure differential at the top of the injector which make it open and close. See further information here.

    Diesels ignition on pressure and there are no plugs. They're also higher pressures, but most importantly they operate entirely on pressure. An older Diesel may even operate with no electrical components associated with it. Gasoline (not direct injection) injects the fuel before the cylinder compression chamber, so there's no pressure at the tip of the injector. On Diesels there's considerable pressure at the tip of each injector. Hope that helped...

    Could it be this malfunctioning component causing my low pressure error? bmw code 4560

      No, probably not. Just check reference voltage and ground.

      @@ADPTraining I'm sorry, I don't know how to do this. Is there another video or somewhere I can learn? What do you think is the cause of the problem, the high pressure fuel pump?

    REALLY Helpful thank you. I own a 2001 2.8 HDI Peugeot.
    May I ask what voltage a Pressure control value usually operates at? For example is it a 12v supply from the ECU or 5v (or something else)?

    • @ADPTraining
      @ADPTraining  Před 3 lety +1

      99% of all sensors are 5v reference with a dedicated ground. Pay attention to that ground. If it's not really 0.00v then the output would already be skewed. That's why my OBD-2 DLC Health Checker STRESS tests the 2 ground lines. www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/OBD_2_DLC_Health_Checker.html

      @@ADPTraining thanks. I recognise that sensors are 5v but it was the actual valve I was asking about. I believe this is activated by a 12v square wave from the ECU to the valve. No worries though I'll physically check it when the weather improves here :-)

      Oh I see, you're asking actuation. Well yes, most components are PWM controlled. You can use this www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/pulse_width_pwm_controller_driver.html to test. Now the GDI direct injection pumps are over 20v controlled, also PWM. You can use this magnetic Injector tester www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/GDI_CRDI_Direct_Injector_Tester.html to test those. Hope that helps.

    hi i had this question for man years, have not got answer from others, as usual i came to you finally, this is about bleeding air from diesel system, i was told that i need to bleed air from diesel when i chane fuel filter in diesel, why are we not doing this in gasoline engine while chaning fule filter.process is almost same between two system, how come air can enter in one system and not in another. any explanation is helpful
