Thank you, I just picked up three sections of a early 1900's post office set-up (from a general store) and am building three cabinets to house each section. These have the single dial so you video gave me a thought on how to change the combinations since none of the extended family were aware of the combinations.
Thanks for the great video! I had a bit harder of a time changing my combination because the door was already mounted in the safe, so having it shut wouldn't work for the combo change. I did manage to change the combo enough so that it's not the old one thanks to you.

Oh question..are there replacement parts for those 2 dial doors? I have one like that door and the thumb stud is bent preventing the door to open.. The door is off a frame and I can see the meck. Need advice on this.. I have a idea how to fix it.
I just pick up one for a 1. Love it and I change the combination to🙄🙄🙄. If you can look inside or use a paperclip to line up the dials for the combination.

Dag nabbit. I have a 2-dial one made into a coin bank. (It came with a house I bought.) I swear I can accurately read the combo written on the back in pencil, but I still can't get it to open (I've tried variations in case I was reading it wrong). There's a hole in a the back, so I shined a light down through the coin slot to see if I could visually line up the notches by looking in the hole, but there seems to be a cover over the mechanism. Any clue as to how to reverse engineer the combo without breaking open the box? I wonder if I can unscrew the mechanism cover by putting a screwdriver through the hole...and then see the gear alignment. It's really frustrating since the combo seems to be written right on it, but it still wont open.
I have a double dial Eagle box that has been made into a bank. I have the combo(s) but I don’t know how to work them. The combo I was given is C,D and M,N. No RLR or LRL, just those letters. Can you help?
Theres a train museum in my town that has a bank of 30 of these. Their offering a years free admission if you can figure out how to open one. I'll have to go back and give it a try. Process of elimination.
I have two of these double combo banks and do not have the combination for either of them. Is there any way to figure out the combination without destroying the wood box they are mounted in?
+Wayne McDaniel break the glass to see the tumblers since the glass is just square or use a forstner bit in back to make a clean hole you can plug or take it to a locksmith.
The way to open stick a hanger through the coin slot then try and hook the latch and pull gently. Once it’s opened align the tumblers so that door latch opens the lock then look at the front for the combination .
I bought my PO Box safe @ a local auction. But it's locked, and I have no clue how to open it. It's a double lock like yours. Any idea how I can figure out how to open it?

try pushing and pulling the knobs while turning. sometimes you can feel the indentations.

The numbers could be the safe number. So safe 1 is dial 1 = c dial 2 = k. Safe 2 dial 1 = c dial 2 = u

Unscrew the cover over gears as in video and it'll be self evident.
I have a single dial type that my uncle made and I don't have the combination anymore; can you tell me a simple way to crack it?
