Thanks! - Zábava
You and Ariah have very different styles of painting. However, both paintings look equally beautiful in the end! Just stunning!
I loved the talk after the painting session. A kind of post game talk! So interesting listen to evaluating the things that caused you to struggle. Always enjoy when Ariah paints with you.
Yes this works well .I agree with this comment
Enjoyed the little talk at the end. Ariah's paiting of the river really struck a chord with me, applicable for the last video too. Had a lovely time watching the video!
Guys, terrific paintings.. Amazing how different the same scene is handled. Ariah, I feel the sky anyway. And, I enjoyed the conversation at the end as well.
I love when you leave the first thin colour block in some places. It leaves this transparent, varied and spontaneous look in the overall painting. It’s all about those contrasts at every level.
Yes, I agree. Thick and thin, light and dark, busy and simple, saturated and desaturated. I try to keep all of those opposites (and more) in mind while painting.
Yes sir🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ariah's on 🔥 fire.
Nice work guys.
You both are amazing! I love seeing how you each show a different perspective of the same scene.
Ariahs painting is a masterpiece. Nice to see him grow like that. That is a very expensive painting congrats to him. Your style of painting always the same. Can see the signature of keeping painting style. But ariahs just progressed to another level
What a beautiful location. Both pictures awesome as usual, really liked Ariah's river, beautifully painted.
LOVED this, thanks guys. Btw your friend "won" haha. His depth of water in so few simple strokes was gorgeous
Love both paintings. Ariah seems to improve by leaps and bounds on each new painting. His color palette spoke to me on this one. Both of are so talented. Enjoyed the conversation at the end.
Love your color palette. That blue and orange. Also you two discussing the day was so good.
Both paintings are fabulous. I like the dark blue river makes the paintings pop.
Do you guys write notes on positive and negative for future returns.
Thanks! I suppose we make mental notes, but nothing written.
Great subject and you both had successful results. I really enjoy when you two paint together , especially the little chat at the end.❤
Good work guys. Nice to see a difference in scenery . Be great to see you paint out at Joshua tree or even Yosemite .
these were AMAZINGGG
Thanks!
Both good paintings...interesting on different colors...good after painting talk! Thank you!
Fabulous another beautiful painting, both of you! Love these CZcams sessions thank you so much!

Such a pleasure to watch and listen to you both - super helpful advice! Thank you so much
Such a nice location, beautifully composed with superb colours. Both splendid
loved hearing the little birds on the background during this... it makes me fall more into the piece and i love love that
I enjoyed the picnic table review!
I really love when you first scrub in and work and fine-tune and it’s so abstract. I think that’s the best part of your work. I just love that part and how you talk to yourself Araya is really something great. I enjoy his art excellent work guys.
Your post painting conversation was so helpful.
I also learn so much watching you figure out your composition. Thank you for sharing.😊
You guys are encouraging me to paint bigger sizes out there! Enjoyed the video as always
Awesome as usual! New tips for my next painting.
Omg! I LOVE both compositions soooo .uch!
so funny on your last video when you were setting up I noticed the view going this way and thought to myself looks like that is a great view to paint too! and here you are! Helpful to listen to your chat at the end as well. You two are really inspiring!
I was so wowed by both of your paintings! So different, but both so beautiful! You guys are so inspiring. Loved the chat at the end. Ten thumbs up! 👍
Beautiful outcomes!
Loved this video, and the debrief at the end⭐️
Excellent lesson I love it. Pictures look different from each other however, those are terrific pictures.
Both are spectacular paintings! The wind has been wicked lately here in Maine too!
Thanks Kay!
You both had beautiful results. I would love it if you could put both side by side so we can enjoy the different ways you both interpreted the scene
I liked the conversation after Nice work 🎨👀
Double WOW
marking my attendance!
Nice paintings guy's, I notice all the sounds of the bird's ,Question? have you ever had a bird add his paint mixture onto your painting?😅
Thanks, and fortunately that has not happened. Dust, sand, leaves, YES!
Hi Michael, I've been watching your videos and trying to learn to paint with oils (Alkyds actually). I am following your process by first sketching the scene with a smaller brush, burnt sienna and mineral spirits. Then I indicate the darker shadow areas with your shadow mix, thinned with Liquin. (I think you mentioned that you add some mineral spirits to the Liquin, but I haven't tried that.)
Then I add a thin wash of approximate colors while blocking in the major shapes. At this point the surface is still wet, and I then start adding more layers of thicker paint (also with Liquin in it). It looks good at first, but as it's drying, the highlight areas lose their saturation and become sort of "faded." I think maybe I'm using too much Liquin and the pigments start to migrate from the underlying layers into the top highlighted layers. If I waited for the underlying layers to dry, it wouldn't be a problem, but I want to paint alla prima.
My thought is that adding some mineral spirits (in addition to the Liquin) to the underlying layers will help them to dry faster, and easier to paint over. Then when adding more layers, use little or no Liquin. Then the pigments won't be able to migrate as much with less Liquin. Can you comment?
I'm a Patreon member and I tried to see if I could post my question on your Patreon page, but was unable to. Thanks for all your great videos, best wishes for continued success!
I usually only thin the paint in the beginning of the process. After the block in I apply thick paint. 😊
Two great paintings.
It has a Russian impressionist look about it this painting of yours.thst Ilya Rechin look

Prepare your canvas before going into the field. Don’t start with that white background. You’ll thank me later.
Nah, I like the white of the canvas showing though the transparent passages. Try it, you’ll thank me later 😊
