Honestly having seen what South Park's writing has been the past 7 years I can understand how the two were "burnt out" on the story game style.
I mean they did talk about and made fun of themselves in one of the specials taking all the deals they did. Then got burned by paramount who cuz down the season to 6 or 7 episodes which is why they are suing them

South Park writings gone to absolute hell. The contractor episode was probably the most detached blue collar pandering I could imagine. Especially as a Floridian where contracting scams are the norm and you cant find a contractor who can actually do their job and pass the half assed labor board inspection. Last time I hired a contractor I had to basically scrap and redo everything he did and ended up doing a better job. Guy couldn't even get a TV mount level lol. I think the creators are just getting old were starting too see that old man cope heavily written into SP writing. Which for a show that started out exposing how insane adults seemed from a childs perspective is just not going to work.

I came into this thinking I'd see a speedrun on a game I barely heard anything about and instead came out with an actual game review with interview clips.
This game looks exactly like one of those "hire this man" unreal engine demos
Thanks for having all of us on for coop runs! Was fun doing a run even if the game was... not so great. Excited to see how the speedrun shapes up. The Discord's been getting a lot more activity since the game released, and some fun strats are getting developed!

No shade to anyone who likes Snow Day, but I'm frankly glad I took a miss on this one. Not my kind of gameplay at all, and I am not digging the 3D look.
I 100% stand by the wand as the most powerful ranged weapon. at its base it is one of the worst with the low base damage but it builds into an absolute monster. there is a card upgrade for the wand that changes the flame thrower into chain lightning while still keeping the burn effect AND it pairs with the napalm card which leaves fire patches on targets hit. chain lighting also ignores shields.
Don’t forget the fart clouds it can ignite if you fart over a fire patch

Why do some of you keep justifying the lack of content and lackluster gameplay, with it being $30? There are so many $30 and under games with hundreds of hours of content, replayability and dynamic gameplay. This game could have easily been triple the content for the same price.

You know what I think would have been a cool idea. If they made a 3d fighter around the episode were they got Ninja weapons and they used that art style. They could play "Let's fighting love" during the select screen

Looks like a pretty fun game, if you got some friends together it'd be cool
Most broken combo I've found so far, considering I have 30 perk points allowing for quick and easy legendary and ultra legendary cards but, having bubble with devastating bubble and rubber bubble I've seen 120dmg. Pair that with the wand w/ chain lighting or axe w/ vortex + shredder, can wipe a entire screen easily.
If you allow 30 perks in any speed runs with teams of 4 using secret wiper and 4x multi-ply paper can make a huge difference, in most runs I'll have 400 to 500 tp allowing for rerolls basically granting me what I want. Also there's a card called second wind, at level 5 adds 250% movement when damaged, that can be added to hurry-cane 170% movement speed at ultra.
Side note, Cheesing is great for CC even with no cards put into it, stopping necros, healers, kindergarteners from over welming and brutes from grappling, also allows for easy pissed off boosting as they won't dodge or atk you.
I believe Matt and Trey to be of more integrity than most game dev studios so if they say that the game will get better once more content is released. I believe them. Snow day may resemeble the old crappy games, but honestly... despite the graphics looking... odd for a southpark game I believe it's definitelly more entertaining than most licensed games and story spinoffs like golum.

It was the art style change but most ppl are more upset with its length being 5 hours even less time like 3 hours if you play well and fast, lack of weapon types and over here in my country it costs $70 bucks because of conversion which for a smaller game is just not worth spending $70 bucks if it was $30 bucks in my currency it wouldn’t sting as much but it costs almost as much as what full price triple a game cost years ago (they got more expensive here a triple a game can cost $120 now even years after release 😢)
I do appreciate the fact the fact that they wanted to try something different. But I would appreciate even more if what they came up with turned out to be a good game. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just... mediocre, even for $30.
In this case people are quick to hate not because they hate change, but because the change *wasn't good* . I'm all for change and while I *loved* the previous two games and phone destroyer, I was still very excited for this game because it's been almost a decade since the previous one and I thought the 3D idea would've been nice if done correctly. Now I'm just disappointed because I feel like I spent 50€ on a very rushed, repetitive and extremely short game. Sure, it's a live-service and we already know we'll get some cosmetics and two new weapons from now to september and a mode in october, but I still feel like 50+€ is a bit much, especially considering what other games you can get for even less than that...

I will say the games story is actually great as a setup but no so great in execution also when you create a lobby to enter one of the story options given to you is chapter 6…there is no chapter 6 also why not make a pirate game

I see everyone's complaints, but don't think it's as bad as they make it out to be. The biggest complaint is the art style, I get the 2D limits them to ONLY using JRPG/Turn based games, but hell they could have turned it into a roguelike deck building game and people would have been much happier than seeing this 3D art style, but I respect them for at least trying something new, especially if one of them just doesn't care for the style of game they were making and probably wouldn't have put much effort into writing it since he's being burnt out.

The animation & type of action weren’t my problems with the game they can do whatever they want with those. The interaction with the town & its people, and the epic movie-like stories from the old games were where all their appeal came from, and this game doesn’t have those things. It’s really unfortunate, I played & beat the other games like 5 times each

Too bad that this game is just way to lacking in content. It made me very disappointed to get a game you can beat in 5 hours, and we waited 7 YEARS. Love the design and gameplay, the lack of replayability is just sadge.
That the world turns 3d from a child's imagination made me laugh, but then he became 3d and it suddenly stopped being funny. Who'd want the artstyle to change for everything. The 3d is a gimmick not a template at least it would be entertaining that way. I adore how the face warps slightly when the heads are not perfectly centered that's gone it's terrible. Perhaps removing all shadows making characters full bright so they stick out of scenes might be the only thing that's probably missing.
The wand is by far the most damaging/op with the plus DMG card that sets you on fire and chain lightning or reach card but that one isn't necessary, choose napalm over reach. Mixed with the ranged talents and the talent that's does 40% more DMG to full health enemy I was one shoting six normal enemies at once who were clumped up. On hard it would take two chains or just let the fire finish them off, if you switch to chain it still sets them on fire like the default wand. I don't even mess with melee unless it's sword and shield to bounce arrows back at archers or charged shield attack to send an enemy off a high point or push the 5th grader or adult enemies back. If you're trying to do the no TP challenge just use wand and fart escape, poison and burn and keep moving. I know the point of the video was speed running so very unlikely you will get the high DMG wand build unless you get a lucky sacrifice card that maxes out the on fire/+DMG card, but just seen quite a few people overlook the wand.
100% would have over paid for the game if it was like the stick of truth r the 2nd one... However the 3rd one isn't my type of game I mean it looks cool however I would rather play darksouls 3 again then this game.
gonna watch the whole thing but IGN saying anything is bad, turns automatically good. they say something sucks and its usually not bad at all. they either really dont know what they are talking about, or they are masters of rage bait. either way, they are a joke.
Would have been better in 2d to be honest, its very clunky in 3d .
this kind of game has the tools in place to add PVP naturally, what with the buffs and bullshit cards before the fight begins. hope its something that can be done down the line.

Which is why we're getting less and less of them as the years go. Of any bigger ideas BG3 is the only real RPG that came out recently with most being action games with RPG tacked on.

"fully fleshed out 10-20 plus hour gaming experience" Bro people expect 10-30 hours for 30 bucks. If its not at least a dollar an hour its a scam. Skyrim at $60 took me 90 hours to 100% complete. BG3 at $60 took me 180 for a completionist playthrough. Theres no excuse for this level of crap and all out lack of effort. When it comes to sandbox titles like Arma this is entirely dwarfed by what we normally think of as the highest standards. You wont find many Arma players with less than 2k hours.

Its unfortunate...... But stop letting Matt make these games, south park LIVES in RPG, and i know that's harsh. The rpg elements let the absurdity of the show breathe and feel natural. But time will tell.
Are you an expert on the topic or are you just saying that because we have proof in their first two projects that it worked. What if the next RPG ended up being bad? With current hit or miss writing for the show it's not really set in stone that the next story they write would be good. Or that they'd choose the right system .

Too many people are comparing it to the last two games for some reason and they are walking away disappointed. This is a completely different genre of game and it's not full price for a reason. If nobody had played those previous games or knew they existed, the game would have been received much better.
That being said, there are still some valid complaints about the game, and I think my main complaint would have to be how short the game is. It's nice to hear that they will have new content being released to extend the playtime of the game(As long as we don't have to pay for it), but I think the initial release's content is still too small.
edit: I actually prefer the funny interactions relevant to the game rather than pop culture references. It keeps the game from feeling as dated.

You clearly havent played the game. The interactions just dont exist. There are like 5 lines of dialogue total for each character. There is just no content.
@@Luckingsworth Well like I said there are valid complaints that should be addressed, like the length of the game for example. But there's definitely more than 5 lines of dialogue for each character.
And I was referencing the video's own words about the interactions in the game. He was saying the only interactions involved things happening within the game rather than having pop culture references, and I was saying I prefer the interactions revolving around what's happening in the game, so it doesn't become dated.
This game isnt for me so I wont buy it
