Chuck you do a great job sir, thanks for sharing so much knowledge with us.
Thank you
Producer, director, actor and work crew. Very nice job. Thanks for the help. Nice recovery on the broken point.
Gotta say Chuck, I am kind of addicted to watching this video. Going to put in a couple of shallow wells up here in NWF, going to use your methods. Thanks for the video!
You Can Do It!
Thank you for all that you do for us all.God bless you .I hope all is well with you and yours.
Thanks for sharing Chuck!
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks!
Thanks!!
thank you for sharing your knowledge in drilling shallow well.
Thank you showing us how to dig a live well for my Property in my state AZ
Some questions: I'm about to embark on this journey.
(1) Can you jet the well with the sand point directly?
(2) Have you tried using a strap wrench (or two facing opposite directions) instead of putting the T on top? (You could jet and twist at the same time.)
(3) Would it help with flow to use slotted casing?
(4) Could you use your electric pump to jet the well ?
Good stuff! Thanks!
I enjoyed viewing your video. It is very helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
A good friend of mine here in southern Missouri is a well-digger for farms. They dig these small 2-in Wells by hand before every large well that they dig. Within a half hour they've got a 2 inch well now I'm getting water then they use that to fill the hole to dig the deep well which in this area only has to be about 100 to 150 ft down. They're shallow Wells tend to be about 30 ft they said and are effortless to put in.
Good explanation 👍
I would love to see the mud pump. We appreciate you sharing your experience with us.
It's just a simple run of the mill mud pump
They also call them trash pumps -
@@lisashelly6638thank you!! I’m trying to find one and didn’t know they were the same. Thanks!
Im doing the same exact same thing in Punta Gorda...
Just found your channel - so helpful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us DIYers!!
Your welcome 🙏
👍
Awesome. Ty
So I read a lot of these comments your not drilling a 150' to 200" foot well it's a shallow well 10' foot to maybe 60' find out the water table in your area if it's 30' know you need to go aleast that deep great and helpful video thanks
What is the mesh size also known as the slot size of the well point you bought? With such fine sandy soil in your area is any sand coming through the well into your pump after a few days?
You think if you hang 4 concrete hollow blocks or other heavy weight on the pipe, it would go down automatedly as the dirt got pushed out?
Hello Chuck, Thank you for the most valuable information. I’m about a 100 miles south of you.
Would you have any thoughts on how I can extract a stuck ejector valve?
Looks like I got a bit anxious and connected to pump before clearing sand.
Your cabin sounds sounds great, I have one on the Suwannee.
Thanks Bill Wallace
Good video
How much water does a 60' hole provide
Greetings from Palm Bay, Fla. interested in drilling one for me? I haven’t the tools or the health right now.
Chuck, Very helpful and informative. Question, did you use thin wall or Sch40 with the well point ?
Wellpoint schedule 40 PVC. The main shaft is three and schedule 40 PVC. No thin wall was used in the well
Hi Chuck this is my first time watching your video and it’s great I live in northern Florida and I’m situated on the hill that runs down the side of my property I can see where the land slopes in another direction then when the water comes under the road it runs through but you never see it so at that level is where I want to put the pump So one question is that when I get it working and I will do I have to either purify the water or put chlorine in it to make it drinkable I know your water doesn’t have a smell hopefully this one doesn’t either you work hard at what you do I shall follow in your footsteps again great video stay blessed
Hey Chuck thank you for your Videos so can you not use it to saplay your home ? Is it not safe to drank I mean if it is good water not stink water ?
Hi Chuck; Thanks for all of your videos. Question: I found that my sump pump was not working. There was no flooring, I recently brought the home and tested it three months after purchase. Given that I have to replace the pump, is it OK to use my basement, "perforated basin" as a drain for a new sink that I want to install next to the "perforated basin"?
A lot of people do that. But it’s actually illegal. So I guess that’s your call.
I suppose it depends on how much you plan to use that sink. For example if you discharge the wash machine into the sump basin you’re going to have problems.
Hope that helps
Cool video, but try that here in central Texas. With all the clay and limestone you might clear 5 feet past your hand dug hole if you’re lucky
Hey Chuck.
Very good video.
Do you have the list of the material and what caind of pump did you use?
Thanks.
3" pipe, 1" pipe, a mud pump.
Could be pushing the casing down with the pipe wrench as it’s washing
Hey Chuck... you told us your first pipe was 40 feet long...but after you pulled it up and put in the other pipe with the strainer, how long was it to the well pump to point.???
Hey Chuck...thanks for your video...l will definitely go this route....
? For ya...About how much water do you think you used doing this method? Im wondering if l could use a couple large trash cans instead of a large tote. What do you think Chuck?
Chuck, great video. Me and my son just tried this past Memorial Day weekend over here across from you in Citrus County. Using a Harbor Freight 3” inch discharge to 1” inch pvc we literally got 15ft in seconds before this orange sand here stopped us in our tracks. Water would not penetrate it. This is a mud pump putting out 17000 gph! It stopped pushing out the water and cuttings as it was still going full bore and quickly cemented around the pipe. Any ideas?
Hi Steve
Maybe try twisting the 2” shaft with a pipe wrench or T . Slowly get down through that stuff and run the pump . Watch my 1st video for the setup of discharge .
Could also reduce to 3/4 inch. More pressure!
Here too! My 4” is stuck at 7 feet in hardpan and refuses to go deeper. I’m using the other method with a jeter. Very black and compact sediment. I’m soaking it in water in the hope to soften it.
I can’t imagine it working to 50’ here in IN. Great idea if your soil is all sand. Interesting video, “It is live, 😂.”
Completely agree, I was thinking the same thing up here in northern Michigan. Not many places that are all sand. I might give it a try but I'm not going to be hopeful.
I really appreciate what you have done Sir to give an idea how could I do it when I go back to country in the Philippines. We need it so badly in our area. Thank you
Let me know how can help! We could do a LIVE HELP CONSULT and I can help you get started
I think you could have provided a flexible pipe with clips/clamps for easy connection and removal between the electric pump and the 1 inch pipe in the well for cleaning the sand from the well.
could one use 1 inch thick wall poly pipe instead of the PVC?
I live next to a creek and some flood zone up in N. GA, how far down do you think the water table is next to creeks? I’m wanting to drill a well for a greenhouse. I know we have more hard pack clay up here, just curious. Thank you for your videos, I’ve learned quite a bit about French drainage techniques and it’s saved both time and money.
Welcome! I know that was a long LIVE STREAM, but lots of good information is there!
You can find out the information on the depth of your water table it is easy. Just search in your browser the name of the county were you live in and the geological survey water table. It will show your a map of the water table. Just look up your location. It will also have the depth of registered wells in your area. I looked it up for my location and my water table is only 9 feet.
@@VickyGeagan Thank you so much Vicky, if I can do this myself I’d rather give it a try.
@@kjbaran yea I’m watching this now to try to dig my mom a new well hers is going bad over 60 years old the well/ pump guy said 50k for a new one.
great,,so im on a remote property and i do not have any water to use a pressure washer?
Chuck how do you know where to start digging, do you use a locator?
New to your channel. I sure hope to do this in my Uvalde, TX property. Have any ladies done this alone? May have to ask my brother to help😊
Lucky you don’t have to deal with rocks in the soil like we do here in Western NY.
Use the mud pump from the get go.
Period.
Since when did Joe Namath start digging wells?!?!?
How many horse power is the mud pump and would it work with 4” pipe instead of 3” pipe
Where can I buy a mini jet nozzle from
Why not 1 & 1/4 instead of 1 inch?
Wouldn't it be easier to sink the two inch well point at the same time as the 1-in mud pump
Works great - as long as you already have a water source....
That’s kind of like saying
“my car runs good as long as I have fuel”…
How hard is it to fill up a couple 275gallon totes?
You can bring a water tote with you.
Only need a couple hundred gallons.
How deep can you realistically sink a well
doing this way ?
How much source water do you need?
I used 600 gallons
how do you connect the 40ft of one inch pipe to the flexible red hose coming off of the pump?
Reducers.
2" female to 1" coupling.
The male end of the 2" waste pump hose is male and will screw right in hand tight.
Then connect your 10' section of 1" to the coupling.
Most I know pull the casing and just leave the 2” or 1
1/4 point and pipe, hand driven wells do not have a casing. just wondering
You leave the casing in Florida.
The sand fills in and holds it like rock.
👌👏🍻👍
How do you know how deep to drill?
Then you could use this old pump with the flexible pipe for cleaning instead of cutting and wasting the 1 inch pipes each you clean the well. The wells are pretty easy to drill especially with the layers of soil (geology) at the area you're jetting.
A lot of the videos that are posted I think are from deep South ...where all of the soil is pure sand and the water table is 3' down…. I have taken on the Task myself with driving a sandpoint well... There is one thing that I can tell you with a 100% confidence... and that is the power washer sewage nozzle does not work anywhere in the Midwest ...or anywhere there is clay involved.... The sewage pump worked a little better on top soil but made nothing but a huge mess once you hit clay… ended up driving manually inch by inch...wasted 2 days and $200 on materials ....so if you live North of Florida you might as well get out the sledgehammer or post hole driver for your sandpoint well…. Plan on 2 guys 2 days ... The method that you are using is great for your area I'm sure… I just wanted it to be stated in the comments that this is a very far South technique and does not work this easily in most States....thanks for sharing...
1-1/2 in hole in the T to pass the 1in pipe through it, use the T to keep pushing could have saved you a lot of effort and time.
I can't see why a 2 inch PVC can't be used in place of the 4 inch, then use the 1 inch as per normal, what you think?
So you could not do 200'? In Oklahoma it's a 150 to 200' deep wells.
👍✌️💙
That's not soil Im seeing sand. I bet you could not do that in Washington State. We have real dirt, rocks and clay soils.
I agree...I'm from the Midwest and I had to comment just so people do know that it is not that easy... everywhere ....at all...
I've drilled in Washington and Oregon and California. Northern California and up .different ball game. Must witch your property
WATER IS I. THE lava rock..Southern California as a aqua Fer..in Oregon a man on a tractor hit a grade stake. Didn't tell anyone. Well we moved the rig .Witcher came back out..first thing he said stop don't tell him anythin .he did his job. Put rig back were he put his mark. 16 inches over we go water. Couple gallon a minute. So I frak the well. Got twelve gallon good we saved the day..but it cost the man on the tractor $14.000 bucks. He knocked it over 🤣 he put it back up..didn't let anyone know. My well in Oregon is 22ft
GOs dry come September at the top of mountain all the little creek dry up 1mil down water in same creek..we did this in Kansas it worked out fine 🙂 👍 😀 👌
Where are you?:
Hi chuck hope to install a shallow we here in Kissimmee in May bought trash pump and all pipe but bought 4” of to start then 2 “ pipe to put well point in after using 1” pipe and trash pump to blow water and dirt out of pipes
You never capped the wells you drilled.
They are capped with THE PUMP.
Sand fills in completely around the pipe in a short while.
No "capping" is needed
Take too long to push the 3” pipe down, should be pushing as the 1” goes down and clears the dirt
Yep. Live.
Broken pipe...ahhhh
Thanks Chuck but you don't have to repeat everything four times.
On the other well you failed to put a well cap on the pipe to prevent foren things from entering your new well😮
Chuck, great video, wealth of information, but you waste too much time, plus please don't keep on saying LIVE, you are not on TV show.
Well I admire his will to use hand tools and do it the old fashioned way up to a certain point lol but I have a one man two cycle 8-in auger drill that will do this job quick. I'm sorry but that's what I use and I love these videos man if and when we had to go back to doing it the old way which in my opinion if you're digging a well out in the middle of nowhere and you can't get these tools out there without other means then yes do it the old fashioned way
Thanks!
Thank you!
