I have found over my wrist t few years, while my arm can be bent easily , what happens if I have one big yawn after wakingmy arm will extend as far asit will go, tragically I cannot do that willfully, when my arm extends like that it will lock fully extended when that started Igrabbed wrist and concentrated on pulling my arm backthen my armbent at the elbow, now I shake my arm and concentrate on relaxation, this in volves my affected arm, I feel I've come pretty farI hope that can help your wife, my first exercises, involvedgetting a piece o fnylon cloth, putting the clothon a table putting my affected arm on the cloth anusing my good arm , all the while concentrating on pulling my arm across the table it took me doing this after dinner and after break fast so four and a half years after my stroke one day I tried to per form that movement without helping the affected arm, and I did it, one day I noticed while doing adifferent movement, pulling my affected arm towards me, I was picking my shoulder up be cause I'd pull my elbow off the tableI was lifting my shoulder up to prevent dragging my forearm across the table edge, I coul just picture whI was doing to my poor numb arm. any way thosesimple assisted arm move mentshave gotten me more movement in my arm, you mightgive them a try I have a sort of channel if you would like I can make a short video showing those simple movements, I obviously cannot promise they'll work, prior to my stroke I was heavily into yoga, I was doing bridge poses in the hospital without realizing I was doing them just to help the nurses with bedpan usage, I felt bad for my attending nurses be cause I came down with a raging case of C-diff, it's pretty horrible, the attending nurses earned their meager pay, that particular malady almost kilt me.two weeks of that is pretty crappy. on top of a massive stroke, I've come a long way I would say understanding what my wife has done for me, you sir are a good man, and your wife is lucky to have youI know my wife has borne my bad temper with grace, goodwishes to you both.

Hello, not sure if this is the right place to pose this question but here goes.
I have pretty good range of motion with my affected arm. I thought I had spasticity in my arm but it doesn't coincide with your description. Maybe it's just spastic - not sure if there's a difference. My arm has a mind of its own. My fingers and hand are in nearly constant movement. The arm has a tendency to get jerky the farther away it gets from my body. My stroke was in 2007 and it has progressively gotten worse. My grip with this hand is mostly a death grip - too tight, will crush alum cans, plastic bottles, Styrofoam and Solo cups. Lack of tactile sensation in fingers. I'll be happy to follow any suggestions or guidance to appropriate videos! Thank you for any help, Guy

Thanks for watching!! Best place to start is to isolated just shoulder movement in a gravity eliminated position. Here is a video that you can try. I know it says for spasticity but you could do these. The elbow splint will keep the arm straight so that you can just focus on shoulder movement. The arm on the table makes this movement "gravity eliminated". I hope this helps! czcams.com/video/vBewElX9M08/video.html
