you are absolutely right.Back in the 70s you could hardly see any live performance on tv. I am surprised to see that the guys sound almost 100 % like they did on the record
Wow - such energy and raw excitment. Brings back vivid memories of the 2x I saw the Rollers in concert. The Rollers were great - def. the FIRST of the BEST of the boy bands. Love 'em.
I'll be 45 in about three weeks myself, and Saturday Night was definitely one of those records that takes me back to those fun, carefree days of my early teens!
Hard to find live footage, so great, yes they could sing and play. Overlooked a lot because they were a pop band. But they don't have bands like that any more. RIP Les, Alan, and Ian
I am so happy that there's CZcams where I relive these memories-- just came from seeing Shaun Cassidy videos! My cousin bought a "BCR Love Kit" from Tiger Beat and she never got it. I still remind her! :-)
WOW! I've been looking for a real live performance by BCR for forever! Everything I've seen before this was a lip sync TV/studio thing. Thank You for uploading this!
WOW.. a blast from the past.. The Bay City Rollers were the first band I seen in concert, at the tender age of 10.. I loved them and was in love with Woody, lol..
gotta love a band that plays live and still manages to perform the songs they are known for well.i rediscovered this one when "so i married an axe murderer" X years ago. saw them in seattle in the 70's, they were 'warm up' for the osmonds (the REAL draw for me at the time), and i remember thinking Rollers were very good!
I am a long time fan of The Rollers. Last year I got the chance to see Ian Mitchell and his group AKA The Bay City Rollers in person. "Saturday Night" is just one of my favorites by The BCR. They are still one the greatest groups ever! Thanks for posting the video!
Know it was 12 years ago since your text. Had a crush on Ian too, Don't much remember pat I would have liked him too. But Ian hadn't been in the band that long to claim the bay city rollers name. Don't for get he was in his band called the Rosetta stones. Probably longer then he was in the BCR.
WOW, they look so young. I was 10 years old when The BCR's were hot, so at that time to me they were all grown up teenagers(or early 20's), Im now 44, lol!!
The Osmonds were hugely popular in the UK and these guys must have been very influenced by them. Always nice to hear some positive and fun music young people can dance to.
LOL! I remember the hair these guys had and boy they loved stretchy pants with huge bell bottoms! Yeah this was the bubblegum of the 70's all the young girls loved these guys!
I also saw them in the summer of 77 but I was DEVASTATED, because Pat had just left the group and he's always been my favorite. In FACT, I missed him3 times that year!!
tees you are DEAD wrong this video is definately NOT lip synching. Yes they did on some tv appearances but compare this perfomance and this is the only one u can hear the crowd and the singer breathing heavy from shouting. This is 100% live.
They were a good band, but don’t compare them to the Beatles who literally changed the world and will forever influence it. These guys didn’t write the soundtrack to our lives. But they could play and play well.
Ironically they performed this song on Howard Cosell's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, a prime time variety hour on ABC not to be confused with NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE which premiered that same season. (Before Cosell's show was cancelled, NBC had to call their show "NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT")
@ABAYCITYROLLERMANIAC now, usually i agree with your taste 110%, but Pat McGlynn is no small exception and I, for one think he's absolutely perfect in every way-guess who MY favorite is, Tim?!!!
judging from the sound, it's actually a live performance w/o lip synching, so that's very cool. they didn't go for a Beatles thing to progress musically, but they certainly were a boy band of the seventies, along with David Cassidy, Bobby Goldsboro, Partridge Family, Leif Garret etc. we've has inSync and Backstreet Boys - but now we have Rebecca Black and "Friday" - it's a lot of fun too, actually! :-)
Well, I've been tryin to cut back on my drinking lately...I thought I'd watch this to pick me up...sorry to say, i puked into the garbage can. Then I went in my room and drank down a full bottle of smirnoffs, thank you bay city rollers.
The song that had me hooked for over 30 years. I am a Roller girl forever!!

Holy shite! I would have died if I could have gone to one of their concerts just once! Rock on Rollers! I love you!
you are absolutely right.Back in the 70s you could hardly see any live performance on tv.

I think it is the recording (0:24 for example)
Love these guys! So many memories from my younger years!!!
a great memory for the greatest era of music we had a great time listening .
このライブは観られなかったけど明日念願叶ってやっと観られます🥰
People talked a lot of trash about them back in the day: funny thing is, they are better than most bands/performers out there during these days.
Rollers fans were incredible !

Looks like they played a track and lip synched (0:24)

I am so happy that there's CZcams where I relive these memories-- just came from seeing Shaun Cassidy videos! My cousin bought a "BCR Love Kit" from Tiger Beat and she never got it. I still remind her! :-)

WOW.. a blast from the past.. The Bay City Rollers were the first band I seen in concert, at the tender age of 10.. I loved them and was in love with Woody, lol..

amazing band!
When I was a teenager I was a BIG Bay City Roller fan. I really like this video. I wanted so badly to go to one of their concerts.
I am a long time fan of The Rollers. Last year I got the chance to see Ian Mitchell and his group AKA The Bay City Rollers in person. "Saturday Night" is just one of my favorites by The BCR. They are still one the greatest groups ever! Thanks for posting the video!

i love this!!!!
Fantastic! I wonder where and when this one was....
great clip, even the ramones admit to being fans of this song (think rock and roll radio) and the rollers. thanks for posting!
S、A、T、U、R、D、A、Y、 night ! Les you're No. 1 forever !
Absolutely!
AWESOME! reminds me of 'ROLLERWORLD' all the live screaming! GREAT! :-)
I totally agree with you! My sister used to get Tiger Beat and I would get Teen magazine because I was older..sssLOL!!
This is better than most music around today
Facts
👍
WOW, they look so young. I was 10 years old when The BCR's were hot, so at that time to me they were all grown up teenagers(or early 20's), Im now 44, lol!!
Thanks for posting! Back in the days of Rollermania, I never got the chance to see them perform live when they toured, so this is a nice video.
For the first time in 30 years, I finally found that these guys can actually play live. Back then all I saw was lip sync on TV.
The Osmonds were hugely popular in the UK and these guys must have been very influenced by them. Always nice to hear some positive and fun music young people can dance to.
mein absolutes Lieblingslied... 5 Jahre lang hab ichs gesucht....boah......Orgasmus...
LOL! I remember the hair these guys had and boy they loved stretchy pants with huge bell bottoms! Yeah this was the bubblegum of the 70's all the young girls loved these guys!
Thankyouforsharingthisofthebaycityrollerslovethisrecord

SAY WHAT U WILL BUT DA ROLLERS COULD SING.
His pitch is right on ... and he’s jumping around also
まさにタータン・ハリケーン!
like the song.. MEMORIES of childhood growing up.
We boys loved Slade. The girls loved the Rollers. When I was 10
Hey danielle, thanks for posting. Never saw them live since I saw them in Chicago 1976?? This is a TRIP!!! Give us more!!! J.
Thanks for posting this!! wow
tees you are DEAD wrong this video is definately NOT lip synching. Yes they did on some tv appearances but compare this perfomance and this is the only one u can hear the crowd and the singer breathing heavy from shouting.
This is 100% live.
Gotta love the football chants.
They played live at the gig I was at in 75 believe me I got close enough to Woody to say that was not recorded.
the first NEXT Beatles
They are like the Beatles were to the U.S., in Japan.
They were a good band, but don’t compare them to the Beatles who literally changed the world and will forever influence it.
These guys didn’t write the soundtrack to our lives.
But they could play and play well.
That was Cheap Trick
日本武道館のライブ映像?
1976年12月14日武道館ライブ。
16 magazine!!
Their vocals sound really good in this. Anyone know what year and where this was filmed?
Godzilla Dome - Nagasaki
Saturdays are soooo fun! Especially if you love dinosaurs!!
One hit wonders In MHO but I have the single and I loved it!!!
Ironically they performed this song on Howard Cosell's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, a prime time variety hour on ABC not to be confused with NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE which premiered that same season. (Before Cosell's show was cancelled, NBC had to call their show "NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT")

i love you lesli
Fuck man- they did more with their youth than i did. Great song- what fun
judging from the sound, it's actually a live performance w/o lip synching, so that's very cool. they didn't go for a Beatles thing to progress musically, but they certainly were a boy band of the seventies, along with David Cassidy, Bobby Goldsboro, Partridge Family, Leif Garret etc. we've has inSync and Backstreet Boys - but now we have Rebecca Black and "Friday" - it's a lot of fun too, actually! :-)
I used to steal my mom's record and kiss their faces!!! LOL
BCR could play live!

Maybe so, although my post was last year so I was closer to 8 years old.

So wait... how do you spell Saturday again?
@jto1916 then why do they still have thousands of fans all over the world who love them and would travel anywhere to see them reunite?
パットのギターはプラグ抜いてあるのか?
Curious, was this concert actually held on a Saturday night?
Hmm they were in their heydays at 74-75, u seem to have encounterd them a bit late
I miss pat mcglynn
Now are they playing live, I think they maybe despite all those rumours they used to mime on stage...
This is live. I'm sure they did mime sometimes
i was picked on a lot because i looked like their drummer in the 70s.......... sigh ...................
SilverBeat
まさか!! Patに会えるなんて。。。
この他にPatの映像ありますか? 教えて~~
admittedly, they were huge for a short period of time......but God knows why....!!!!
Beyonce Who?

Maybe in Tokyo-Budoukan.
Well, I've been tryin to cut back on my drinking lately...I thought I'd watch this to pick me up...sorry to say, i puked into the garbage can. Then I went in my room and drank down a full bottle of smirnoffs, thank you bay city rollers.
Rude
Not live.
Looks like Les is lip-synching !
lipsynching?
Terrible recording but lip synching I would definately say so.
No live
@pbmax Are you announcing that your gay. Do it somewhere else.
i should vomit
