This is surely a nice watch, just like the GT3 Pro was, but I just can't get used to having a beautiful screen and nice watchface that I can hardly ever see because the AOD faces are always simplified and dim to save battery. My Fenix 7 has a MIPS and can display it's full watchface at all times. It might not be as pretty, but it's consistent, perfect in direct light and the battery lasts weeks, not days.
Looks awesome to be honest, i got a Garmin fenix 6 pro two and half years ago (about the same price as this) and the Huawei watch seems like its from 10 years in the future 😂
Dear TechTablets My problem with Huawei GT3 Pro and the GT Runner was, that the media control always disappear when not used for a short time (30 sec - 1 min) or when the display turns off. When I was operated my media player on the phone from the watch, this was so annoying with Huawei Watch. Every time when I wanted to switch the track, I had to go to the menu and select the media control menu, each time I like to use it, because after short time when I raised my hand the dial was coming back at the display. No other Smartwatch here (Apple Watch, TicWatch Pro or Oppo Watch) have the same weird behavior, only the Huawei. Is the behavior the same with the media control on the new Huawei Watch 4 Pro? how long will battery last with esim on all the time?. I want to replace my phone fully with a watch that can make calls by itself with no need for phone. can this watch do that or do I need a phone to make esim work?. thanks.
Mentioned in the video around 2-3 days the you'll need to charge. I loose about 30-35% a day. As for stand alone call with no phone, yes It can do that. I'm doing it now, and can leave my phone at home but still make and answer calls and text on the Watch 4 Pro.

Still using Huawei GT2, its decent battery life and price of £80 when bought, nothing could beat it, and even with all tracking, sleep, stress and hr still manages 4 ish days of battery life.

Great review, thanks! I think Huawei is years ahead the competition on watches. Are elegant (not crappy boor like garmin) and have sensor compartment at the top edge. I like a lot that watch 4... the only thing i find somehow not too good is the thickness... I think GT3 pro with a good discount can be a good choice for the price... around 200$ is less than 1/3 of that with few feature missing and less thick as device...
Watch GT 3 Pro is what I used until getting this and yes I prefer the thickness but this new Watch the build is better more refined but heavier and thicker. Esim support is both a pro and a con as it's great placing calla on the watch but this the modem hurts the battery life.
Does auto-detection of workouts actually work for GT3 and GT4? Cause it don't on on my GT2. I've had it trigger twice, and last time it did I was asked if I where doing Eliptical - after I've walked in a forest for over 3 hours. :/

Hello, I bought Huawei watch 4 pro. In some of the videos I watched, the camera application comes inside the watch. But there is no camera app in the one I bought. I can't control the camera from the watch, what do you think is the reason?
I really don't understand the difference in price between this one and the leather strap version. Are we really paying £100+ more for just the titanium strap which im sure you can get a replacement for the leather anyway?

Back with the GT2 i did some heart rate testing vs my polar heart rate watch and chest sensor. Plus GPS tracking Vs my watch and I was surprised it wasn't off at all. Now it's so accurate even ready from the wrist.

A great thing on my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (good but battery life too short) is the auto pause during my MTB rides. Very practical because I sometimes often stop to take pictures of the landscape, it pauses and starts again almost instantly and it's difficult to know which models have this function...Good review by the way 👍

Great review! I owed watch 3 for 1,5 years, excellent watch but battery life was disappointing :( Recently I decided to switch to a longer battery-life GT-series.. GT3 pro I did not like the design at all... but one day I saw GT2 pro and I felt in love in it's design... guess what? I have purchased used GT2 pro (at an excellent conditions) and I love it, battery life is awesome!
@@ishaqthkrthe gt 3 Pro is even better. I had the gt 2 pro too for 1,5 weeks and returned it since the prices were close to the gt 3 Pro price. So I don't miss the old design. Better to upgrade with better and more sensors, ECG and easy navigation with the crown.
I've got gt2 pro. The only thing I wish it had is 120hz refresh rate, other than that I don't see any reason to upgrade. Nevertheless, watch 4 Pro is great looking smartwatch.

@@CaliGainzyou definitely need to upgrade to the gt3 pro. The gt 2 pro is old compared to the gt 3 Pro. You get easy navigation with the crown, more sensors and ECG, faster charging, bigger screen.

I've never really been interested in Huawei's watches, but this looks great. I do wish they didn't copy the all apps screen from the Apple watch, though. Did you notice any way to change thay in the settings?
I live in Belgium and I have the GT3 pro. Huawei makes without any doubt the best looking smartwatches BUT having no access to Google services is the only thing that keeping Huawei to dominate. In Belgium Still no ECG still no NFC and I don't see the remote shutter in the menu. About the curved screen of the gt4 .... No option to apply protection glass
@@tmr2757buy yourself a TPU case it protects all around. I have one too. And it's better that it is not Google. That's why the battery life is good and fast UI. No limitations by the West. And mine does has ECG in the Netherlands. You can activate that feature in the app.
So basically save a heap of money and buy a GT 3 and get what was the Huawei advantage of 2 weeks battery life, or save some money and buy the Ticwatch 5 with the same battery life but the advantage of apps and integration(sleep tracking may not be as good?).
Watch GT 3 is still one of my favorites but after recent updates my battery life has gone from 10 days to about 5-6! Not good. Hopefully they fix the drain issue or why it's worse.

Well my Huawei GT 3 Pro battery life is better but then it doesn't have esim support. Overall such a nice watch.
I have the Gt3 Pro and it does have esim support. However, in the UK, it only works with Vodafone, but none of the other networks.

Very similar this is just more refined and better build. Better software but not a massive difference. The big one is eSIM support if you need it.

It's coming, but right now the feature and app is not there. Firmware update will be adding it but I have no idea when sorry.

Both same number as your phone if you want. Or stand alone different number.

I owed watch 3 for 1,5 years, excellent watch but battery life was disappointing :(
Recently I decided to switch to a longer battery-life GT-series.. GT3 pro I did not like the design at all... but one day I saw GT2 pro and I felt in love in it's design... guess what? I have purchased used GT2 pro (at an excellent conditions) and I love it, battery life is awesome!
GT 2 pro's look is future proof man. I have it as well, never looks old

@@ishaqthkrthe gt 3 Pro is even better. I had the gt 2 pro too for 1,5 weeks and returned it since the prices were close to the gt 3 Pro price. So I don't miss the old design. Better to upgrade with better and more sensors, ECG and easy navigation with the crown.

I've got gt2 pro. The only thing I wish it had is 120hz refresh rate, other than that I don't see any reason to upgrade. Nevertheless, watch 4 Pro is great looking smartwatch.
Really? I don't find 120hz on a watch is a must 60hz is fine for me.
@@Techtablets yeah, but I recently switched from huawei p30 pro to vivo x90 pro plus. I never paid attention to screen refresh rate before, as I had no comparison, but now, after looking on my phone's screen, the watch looks sluggish. I still love it though!
@@CaliGainzyou definitely need to upgrade to the gt3 pro. The gt 2 pro is old compared to the gt 3 Pro. You get easy navigation with the crown, more sensors and ECG, faster charging, bigger screen.
What happens when the eco mode is turned on? They claim that battery will hold up to 21 days? Will e-sim be deactivated in this mode or is there a possibility to turn esim off manually?

I've never really been interested in Huawei's watches, but this looks great. I do wish they didn't copy the all apps screen from the Apple watch, though. Did you notice any way to change thay in the settings?

I live in Belgium and I have the GT3 pro. Huawei makes without any doubt the best looking smartwatches BUT having no access to Google services is the only thing that keeping Huawei to dominate. In Belgium Still no ECG still no NFC and I don't see the remote shutter in the menu. About the curved screen of the gt4 .... No option to apply protection glass
Why would you apply glass protrction on sapphire though?
I wear my watch at work and if I didn't have the glass protector.....
Technically you wouldn't need a screen protector because the hardness of sapphire is close to diamond and it is tougher than glass too.

@@tmr2757buy yourself a TPU case it protects all around. I have one too. And it's better that it is not Google. That's why the battery life is good and fast UI. No limitations by the West. And mine does has ECG in the Netherlands. You can activate that feature in the app.

vs the Ultimate model, which one more features & more robust?
Software wise Watch 4 pro is better. Ultimate is more rugged, but basically has the same software as the GT series.
So basically save a heap of money and buy a GT 3 and get what was the Huawei advantage of 2 weeks battery life, or save some money and buy the Ticwatch 5 with the same battery life but the advantage of apps and integration(sleep tracking may not be as good?).
Watch GT 3 is still one of my favorites but after recent updates my battery life has gone from 10 days to about 5-6! Not good. Hopefully they fix the drain issue or why it's worse.
@@Techtablets After watching a few more reviews it seems if you disable the esim you get the historical Huawei watch great battery life back.
