    Stopping at McMichaels over the winter break before the freeze begins to cover the slow stretches.
    Wonderful creek. I never fished at the park. I'll ask my buddy who grew up on the creek. Literally on the creek. I've taken beautiful trout on that creek but closer to route 33. An absolutely beautiful waterway. One year I interrupted a family of otter.

    I live in East Stroudsburg and fish the McMichaels Creek about 25 times a season. The past 8 years I have never been "skunked". Lots of native Brownies and stocked heavy. Also the Pocono Creek is another great native Brownie stream. The Broadheads creek is a good stream but gets crowded and flooding throughout the years have washed out a lot of good holes. Enjoyed the video.

    Mike, you are correct that the McMichael Creek originates above the "village" of McMichael on Rt 715. The water flows from cold water springs on the back of Camelback Mountain and the McMichael is formed by the convergence of Hypsie Creek, Bowers Creek and Fall Creek. Bowers Creek flows into Hypsie just before it joins Fall Creek to form the McMichael.

    The first bow you caught and the big hoss ya got were absolutely gorgeous fish. The markings on the big guy and the thick pink stripe on the first one were remarkable.. alot of people call them hog trout because they will eat anything you put in front of them but short of the brook trout and golden rainbow / palomino the rainbow is the most beautiful one you can catch on the east cost ... if you ever wanna try a good stream in mifflin county I know two that you would enjoy... one is all native class a and the other is class a with spring stockings that has a healthy wild brown population and an occasional native brook in the mix . Tight lines Mike..

    That first bow was amazing, looked like a slab of rare London broil! You fish some awesome streams Michael 👍 the videos are always great. Nice to see one of Darren's bugs too. So what exactly is keystone select? Special regs, stock 2 and 3 year old fish along with the normal stockings? They do a great job whatever the reason. Do you yell "FORE!" or "FISH ON!" when you're on fairway? ;-) Thanks Mike! You're the best!

    • @WoolyBugged
      @WoolyBugged  Před 6 lety

      That's hilarious, FORE! I'll take FORE! So Keystone Select is a program that PA put in place to start stocking larger fish on average in a select group of stream. They use their brood trout from the hatchery to do this. People seem to really like the program and they definitely are putting the larger fish in.

    • @WoolyBugged
      @WoolyBugged  Před 6 lety +1

      Oh and all those Keystone Select waters are Delayed Harvest so you don't have people hauling them out of there early in the season.

    • @joeduca8582
      @joeduca8582 Před 6 lety

      Wooly Bugged that's awesome. That's what I tried to explain to you on the Chittenango Creek video. They stock the big "brood" bows in Green Lake NYS Park, which is right down the road from the Chittenango. This happened in November during deer season years past.. Hilarious with some guys casting into the release nets trying to hook a big bowl and the hatchery guys yelling at them to WAIT! Unfortunately no delayed harvest. Thanks for the reply Mike. Take care.

  • @beebob1279
    @beebob1279 Před 5 lety

    The reason why it's loaded with fish is because of fishermen like yourself who catch and release. Thank you. Can you explain the select program as what is allowed to be harvested. Also, it's a live bait free area too. Fly rods and spin casting with artificial lures. What about the barbs? Do they have to be pinched?

    • @RuHunterX
      @RuHunterX Před 6 lety

      Wooly Bugged I mean the litle pice of methal in the hook. I m a spanish fishermen and I always use the hooks with out death. I mean the litle pice of methal. Here in Spain we call that with the adjective of death. I think the trout dies so many times for that, because they dont have that power of heallyng. I dont now if you understandme XD. In Spanish: las truchas no tienen tanta capacidad de cicatrización y muchas mueren por la muerte en el anzuelo

      @@WoolyBugged - C'mon now, young man. You know what I'm gettin' at.
