This is the version that made me fall in love with this song when I was 13. I already liked The Cure, but as kind of an add-on to the bands I loved. Hearing this, in the middle of the night, when The Beat (the joint best music programme ever - tied with 120 Minutes, thank you Gary Crowley) would air, changed my whole perception of the band. I discovered the early work that was created at the same time as Fire in Cairo, and devoured the whole history and development of the band, and came to love them. I mainly knew Disintegration and that general sound before watching this. Discovering that The Cure had such range was an education and a joy. Fire in Cairo is still my favourite Cure song, though.
Slowly fading blue The eastern hollows catch The dying sun Night-time follows Silence and black Mirror pool mirrors The lonely place Where I meet you See your head In the fading light And through the dark Your eyes shine bright And burn Like fire Burn like fire in Cairo Burn like fire Burn like fire in Cairo
1st gig ever for me,i was 15,blew me away, these were the peak, but carter usm, senseless things, belly, damon and graham from blur, and my first can of special brew

maybe when speaking of released songs, yes. but everyone creates songs at different levels, and not all can be masterpieces. its the same with drawing. not everything you make is going to be perfect, or a 'hit'. thats what practice is for! to not worry about creating something groundbreaking, and being able to experiment with making something new.
if this video were to disappear from the web I would be devastated...so in love with this version !

I must say this is my most favorite Robert performance ever!! Musically, vocally, and visually, ultra supreme!!! Super special!!!!!!
QUE MELENA SE CARGABA
ROBERT SMITH
PERFECT SONG
I feel the same
Totally agree!
definitely not visually, he looks like s***. His playing has also lost its charm from 10 years ago. Something changed.
I was there! Wonderful 🖤
Robert's hair is very big and wild here! Love it
Was in Cairo for a week recently and could not get this song out of my head.
just discovered this live version, so cool, i'm listening to cure for more than 4 years now it made my teen years better
Excellent version!!!
Robert Smith has the best man hair ever
Morrissey isn't far behind him though ;)
This is the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life. 🖤
Amazing to watch that back! What a great crowd that day! One of my best memories!
best backing vocals ever.
Einfach genial, diese Band! Smith persönlich ist einfach ein Könner seiner Zunft!
greatest version ever of Fire !
Tremenda versión, hace sonar esa guitarra como los dioses

See your head in the fading light
And through the dark
Your eyes shine bright
Burn like fire
Burn like fire in Cairo
Burn like fire
Burn like fire in Cairo
Shifting crimson veil
Silken hips
Slide under my hand
Solar lips
Whisper my name
And I yearn
You take me in your arms
And start to burn

THE MAESTRO ROBERT JAMES SMITH ----- NEVER ENOUGH ----- SO WHAT !!! ----
Oh, my god! Bob Patiño played in The Cure.
Sideshow Bob Smith hahahahaha
Wariat.
Robert Smith may be the only artist that is just not capable of making a lousy song..
"So What" on Three Imaginary Boys...? :)
