For someone like me who has never played a Metal Gear game, this was still nearly impossible to follow. I don't think this was intended to be though, but more of a recap for people who have played the games.

@@quintus91 2 is amazing. I played it a while ago. It's the most underrated MG game imo. I could never get into 1, the level design was just not for me. Also, the similarities were because people in America didn't play the old games so Kojima could reuse some ideas.
What people arn't getting is that there is no way this could be 100% correct (and GT knows this) because Metal Gear Lore is such a clusterfuck that there is not a force in this Universe that can make sense of it.

randyrrs it’s pretty simple. The original Big Boss is the woman you kill at the end of MGS3. Naked Snake in that same game inherits the title of Big Boss after killing her. He is also the ‘father’ of all future Snakes - every Snake from that point on is a clone - hence why they all resemble him. There are three clone Snakes - Solid Snake, Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake. Solid Snake was injected with FoxDIE in MGS1 by Naomi Hunter, a virus that would ensure that Liquid Snake was killed if he came into contact with Solid Snake. As a result of the infection, Solid Snake ages exponentially quickly which gives rise to Old Snake in MGS4. Venom Snake was just a body double for the original Big Boss and became the leader of ‘Outer Heaven’ in MG1. Solid Snake killed him in that game believing he was Big Boss - as did everyone else. We find out at the end of MGS4 that the original Big Boss was still alive. Hope that clarifies things.

We play as big boss in 4 versions “MGS3, MGS PO, MGS PW, MGS GZ” As Solid Snake in 5 versions “ MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2 first part, MGS4” As Venom Snake the double agent in one version only MGSV PP. Liquid Snake showed up in MGS1. Solidus Snake showed up in MGS2. Big boss showed up in the last part of MGS4. I hope These information help u guys.

They wanted to make the third clone Gas Snake, but it sounds silly, so they renamed him into Solidus, which is the state between solid and liquid - which also clues you in on his purpose as a clone to balance out Liquid and Solid's traits.
Markolore He got quite a few events out of order and missed out on some pretty big ones, such as the fact that he skipped over the entirety of the peace walker project in his bit about Peace Walker. His explanation of FOXDIE in MGS1 was very unsatisfactory as well.

40 seconds in and this is already not right, snake wasn't seeking revenge when he killed The Boss, he was actually pretty sad. America forced him to kill The Boss to prove his group was on Americas side, because the Russians thought america nuked their facility even though it was Volgin. So ocelot, venom, solid and naked snake/ big boss are all the good guys? But their fighting and killing each other? I'm confused on who's actually the bad guy. Naked snake and venom snake seem like their the good guys but solid tries to kill them both. Ocelot is like a spy but loyal to venom and naked snake. The only villains I see are zero and skull face.

During her mission in space, the Boss saw the Earth had a vision of a world and a people without borders. Each of her ‘connections’ including Snake/Big Boss & Zero, interpreted her vision in their own way, and in trying to do what they believed to be the right thing, unintentionally devastated the world.

PP spoilers ahead according to some fans and the recently updated wiki, the big boss you kill in the first metal gear is venom snake. if that is true then the real big boss (john) was not killed, the Phantom was. which leads to metal gear 2 when big boss is burned alive. is that actually big boss who is killed in mg2 or another clone/phantom? in mgs4 he has no burn scars or anything. if that was him eho was burned he should look like a topographical map of Utah.
+BoringMan yeah, the phantom (venom snake) was killed in metal gear. in metal gear 2, big boss is severely burned, but he is healed by nanomachines and put back together using the remains of solidus and liquid. but the healing process was flawed. the nanomachines were able to heal him and make him healthy, but they put him in a coma. he wasn't able to snap out of the coma until gw shut down and the nanomachines that came from gw were rendered useless.
Spoilers of TPP ahead Actually, Solid did Kill Big Boss. But! not the real one. The phantom one, Ahab. He was basically Boss's best soldier, he was his medic, hes the one that takes out the bomb inside Paz. That is why you dont see the ""Horn" on The Big Boss's head, because it wasnt him who got killed. It was Ahab. Boss had already planned to make an exact look alike like him, to leave and create FoxHound if i am not wrong. It was a HUGE twist while I was playing Tpp. It struck me really hard. But then again. Hideo Kojima did what he does best. R.I.P Bigg Boss.
boomy gull There was a project created by Zero named "Les Enfant Terrible". It's main goal was to clone big boss and preserve his genes, because he was considered a super soldier. As product of this project, Solid Snake and Liquid Snake were created. One with Big Bosses dominant genes, the other with the recessive. Solidus is a third clone that we didn't knew about at first.
And to add the comment above me liquid ocelot is liquid snake but with revolver ocelot mind. I think its on the second game where ocelot mess up with nanomachine (7) (my memory is bit fuzzy) and accidentally inserting ocelot mind into his body
But in mgs4 we discover it was just Ocelot trying to fool the patriots and make them think he was really Liquid that has taken over his body but in reality he was the same ocelot

Solid snake- the series pretty much revolves around him because no matter how much he denies being a “hero,” people always see him in this light because he’s always saving the world and being the most selfless person possible. What brings him down though is that he has to kill people to save the world... which doesn’t sit well with the idea of a “hero.” After mgs1, he no longer works with the military and instead, decided to work with his best friend, Otacon to put an end to terrorism and weapons of mass destruction falling into the wrong hands (like Metal Gears). Liquid Snake- Solid Snakes “brother,” and by brother I mean that liquid, snake, and Solidus are all CLONES of Big Boss. Liquid was always jealous of solid snake because he had the “superior” genes from big boss, and thus was his biggest rival. In mgs1 though liquid is the villain because he hijacks a nuclear base AND metal gear for a ransom. Liquid Ocelot - when ocelot gets his arm Cut off in mgs1, he replaces his arm by attaching liquids arm. It isn’t clearly explained how this works, but essentially Ocelot will be himself with periods or moments where he “turns” and acts like Liquid Snake. Which is such a big problem to Solid Snake because That is his biggest rival. At the end of mgs4, they explain that Ocelot ended up using psychotherapy to fully transform himself into this embodiment of Liquid Snake, by acting and moving and talking like him. But this was only done because he wanted to fool the patriots by letting Solid Snake beat him. Ocelot purposely let himself be the villain in mgs4 to give Solid Snake the chance to destroy the Patriots. Big Boss - big boss is a one man army like Solid Snake and a patriot. He loved his country and was practically a super soldier. He took out a whole elite unit, stopped a weapon that could launch nukes across the world, and defeated Volgin, a character who essentially wanted to rule the world by the Soviet’s hand. But he turns against the military and the US because he found out he was set up to kill the one person he truly loved and looked up to - The Boss. He was renowned as a hero and everyone knew his name worldwide because he single handedly put an end to what could’ve been nuclear destruction of the world. Now before The boss died, she had a will she wanted to complete - and that was to live in a peaceful, prosperous world. Big Boss and Zero had different ideas about this will and how to go about world peace, and thus, ironically, started a war between the two of them. In this war, Zero took Big Boss’s DNA and brought about the clones Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidus Snake fo KILL big boss. Of course that didn’t work because the clones got put into different hands. Though The rest of Big boss’s story is explained in the video but that’s a quick summary of the characters.

Gökhan Yes Les Enfant Terribles was a project by the Patriots. Zero controlled the Patriots. Big Boss was a founding member of the Patriots but he had nothing to do with the cloning and didn't condone it. It's why he left!

Since solid snake was a clone he was genetically designed to have a short lifespan and age rapidly to death. It was his accelerated aging body that caused the fox die virus in him to mutate and become hazardous towards everyone. 9:45 It wasn’t a radiation hallway. I think I've got it down lol. I picked up MGSV and was listening to the audio and realized I have no clue what's going on. I did play and beat MGS4 on ps3 but seeing how the timeline jumps and that was years ago I still had no clue what was really going on. I think what made it hard was getting the names and terms down lol its almost as tough as understanding kingdom hearts...almost

Solid Snake was aging fast, not because of foxdie, but because he was born sterile and was designed to have a shorter lifespan since he was a clone designed only for war.

Ikr? After I played The Last of Us I thought about playing MGS because I remember when I was a teen I played MGS just to try it and then I quit. I was purely into zombie games att. Any way, after I played TLoU I remembered the resemblence between the two games. So, here I am.
It’s really not that bad imagine how the people who played MGS as soon as they released felt lol. It’s gonna take more than watching a quick telling of the story to understand what’s going on. I’d just play the games and experience the story for yourself get the information at your own pace instead of someone trying to cram 7 games worth of backstory into a 12 minute video. That’s like trying getting a bachelors degree in a month. Lol
I played every little piece of the franchise on about 5 different platforms and the story really is a bit confusing, but the explaination in this video here isn´t really good. I suggest to just google the chronological order of the franchise and play it that way. I tell you, you will not regret it. One of the best videogame series ever made. If not even the best. Get the Legacy Edition and start to play one of the biggest masterpieces ever made in videogame history.

its does because mgs5 leads miller down the path he goes down and explains why he breaks off from big boss. and the fact that this boss is the boss you fight in the original ness games, its still good to go over what he did. venom accomplished more than big boss ever did really. and its hinted and theorized that millers genes went into liquid too. and there is the huey stuff, all the advancements in metal gears and such. ...dude there is a lot that this game adds to the lore. the title is "metal gear in 12 minutes", not "the story of the big boss, the original big boss, in 12 minutes".

Radin V I found that with MG, 2 I think has aged better, really enjoyed it the 1 time I played it. Found a lot of similarities between MG2 & MGS

Also, the similarities were because people in America didn't play the old games so Kojima could reuse some ideas.

All we need now is a Kojima-approved MGS 6 where we finally get to play as The Boss, finding out her origins, how she came to br involved in the military, allowing the player to do black ops with her, training Big Boss to succeed her, finding out more about Major Zero, the roots of the patriots and thr philosophers, detailing her meeting and child with The Sorrow, featuring some WWII gameplay, and allowing you to recruit and train the Cobra unit, culminating in her passing the torch to Naked Snake and allowing you to play as naked snake leading into MGS 3

randyrrs it’s pretty simple. The original Big Boss is the woman you kill at the end of MGS3. Naked Snake in that same game inherits the title of Big Boss after killing her. He is also the ‘father’ of all future Snakes - every Snake from that point on is a clone - hence why they all resemble him. There are three clone Snakes - Solid Snake, Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake. Solid Snake was injected with FoxDIE in MGS1 by Naomi Hunter, a virus that would ensure that Liquid Snake was killed if he came into contact with Solid Snake. As a result of the infection, Solid Snake ages exponentially quickly which gives rise to Old Snake in MGS4. Venom Snake was just a body double for the original Big Boss and became the leader of ‘Outer Heaven’ in MG1. Solid Snake killed him in that game believing he was Big Boss - as did everyone else. We find out at the end of MGS4 that the original Big Boss was still alive. Hope that clarifies things.

They wanted to make the third clone Gas Snake, but it sounds silly, so they renamed him into Solidus, which is the state between solid and liquid - which also clues you in on his purpose as a clone to balance out Liquid and Solid's traits.

1. Naked Snake doesn't want to kill The Boss out of revenge. In fact, he doesn't want to kill her. He is being forced by the US Government. This is crucial because it what makes Snake truly transform into the awesome Big Boss.
2. Naked Snake is not Big Boss until the end of MGS3 so don't call him Big Boss if he's still Snake. It's confusing.

4. Solid Snake doesn't die thanks to FoxDIE. He's dying because he is a clone.
5. Stop going back and forth with your explanations. If the point of your video is to do a chronological recap, then stick to it. Don't start with MGS3 to then mention stuff that happens in MGS4 to then go back to MGS2 to then talk about PW.
So ocelot, venom, solid and naked snake/ big boss are all the good guys? But their fighting and killing each other? I'm confused on who's actually the bad guy. Naked snake and venom snake seem like their the good guys but solid tries to kill them both. Ocelot is like a spy but loyal to venom and naked snake. The only villains I see are zero and skull face.

Actually, one of the main points of the series is that there really aren’t any ‘good/bad guys,’ It is all depenent upon your perception of what is good or bad! During her mission in space, the Boss saw the Earth had a vision of a world and a people without borders. Each of her ‘connections’ including Snake/Big Boss & Zero, interpreted her vision in their own way, and in trying to do what they believed to be the right thing, unintentionally devastated the world.

according to some fans and the recently updated wiki, the big boss you kill in the first metal gear is venom snake. if that is true then the real big boss (john) was not killed, the Phantom was. which leads to metal gear 2 when big boss is burned alive. is that actually big boss who is killed in mg2 or another clone/phantom? in mgs4 he has no burn scars or anything. if that was him eho was burned he should look like a topographical map of Utah.
+BoringMan yeah, the phantom (venom snake) was killed in metal gear. in metal gear 2, big boss is severely burned, but he is healed by nanomachines and put back together using the remains of solidus and liquid. but the healing process was flawed. the nanomachines were able to heal him and make him healthy, but they put him in a coma. he wasn't able to snap out of the coma until gw shut down and the nanomachines that came from gw were rendered useless.

Actually, Solid did Kill Big Boss. But! not the real one. The phantom one, Ahab. He was basically Boss's best soldier, he was his medic, hes the one that takes out the bomb inside Paz. That is why you dont see the ""Horn" on The Big Boss's head, because it wasnt him who got killed. It was Ahab. Boss had already planned to make an exact look alike like him, to leave and create FoxHound if i am not wrong. It was a HUGE twist while I was playing Tpp. It struck me really hard. But then again. Hideo Kojima did what he does best. R.I.P Bigg Boss.
Im a year late, but in MGS4 is explained that Big Boss was reconstructed using the remains of Solidus.

There was a project created by Zero named "Les Enfant Terrible". It's main goal was to clone big boss and preserve his genes, because he was considered a super soldier. As product of this project, Solid Snake and Liquid Snake were created. One with Big Bosses dominant genes, the other with the recessive. Solidus is a third clone that we didn't knew about at first.
And to add the comment above me liquid ocelot is liquid snake but with revolver ocelot mind. I think its on the second game where ocelot mess up with nanomachine (7) (my memory is bit fuzzy) and accidentally inserting ocelot mind into his body
But in mgs4 we discover it was just Ocelot trying to fool the patriots and make them think he was really Liquid that has taken over his body but in reality he was the same ocelot

Solid snake- the series pretty much revolves around him because no matter how much he denies being a “hero,” people always see him in this light because he’s always saving the world and being the most selfless person possible. What brings him down though is that he has to kill people to save the world... which doesn’t sit well with the idea of a “hero.” After mgs1, he no longer works with the military and instead, decided to work with his best friend, Otacon to put an end to terrorism and weapons of mass destruction falling into the wrong hands (like Metal Gears).
Liquid Snake- Solid Snakes “brother,” and by brother I mean that liquid, snake, and Solidus are all CLONES of Big Boss. Liquid was always jealous of solid snake because he had the “superior” genes from big boss, and thus was his biggest rival. In mgs1 though liquid is the villain because he hijacks a nuclear base AND metal gear for a ransom.
Liquid Ocelot - when ocelot gets his arm Cut off in mgs1, he replaces his arm by attaching liquids arm. It isn’t clearly explained how this works, but essentially Ocelot will be himself with periods or moments where he “turns” and acts like Liquid Snake. Which is such a big problem to Solid Snake because That is his biggest rival.
At the end of mgs4, they explain that Ocelot ended up using psychotherapy to fully transform himself into this embodiment of Liquid Snake, by acting and moving and talking like him. But this was only done because he wanted to fool the patriots by letting Solid Snake beat him. Ocelot purposely let himself be the villain in mgs4 to give Solid Snake the chance to destroy the Patriots.
Big Boss - big boss is a one man army like Solid Snake and a patriot. He loved his country and was practically a super soldier. He took out a whole elite unit, stopped a weapon that could launch nukes across the world, and defeated Volgin, a character who essentially wanted to rule the world by the Soviet’s hand. But he turns against the military and the US because he found out he was set up to kill the one person he truly loved and looked up to - The Boss. He was renowned as a hero and everyone knew his name worldwide because he single handedly put an end to what could’ve been nuclear destruction of the world.
Now before The boss died, she had a will she wanted to complete - and that was to live in a peaceful, prosperous world. Big Boss and Zero had different ideas about this will and how to go about world peace, and thus, ironically, started a war between the two of them. In this war, Zero took Big Boss’s DNA and brought about the clones Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidus Snake fo KILL big boss. Of course that didn’t work because the clones got put into different hands. Though The rest of Big boss’s story is explained in the video but that’s a quick summary of the characters.

That Big boss was such a legend after a while his Friend ''Zero'' aka ''Cipher'' (from mgs5) cloned Big boss. So they created Liquid Snake and Solid Snake. Gökhan Yes Les Enfant Terribles was a project by the Patriots. Zero controlled the Patriots. Big Boss was a founding member of the Patriots but he had nothing to do with the cloning and didn't condone it. It's why he left!

I think I've got it down lol. I picked up MGSV and was listening to the audio and realized I have no clue what's going on. I did play and beat MGS4 on ps3 but seeing how the timeline jumps and that was years ago I still had no clue what was really going on. It’s really not that bad imagine how the people who played MGS as soon as they released felt lol. It’s gonna take more than watching a quick telling of the story to understand what’s going on. I’d just play the games and experience the story for yourself get the information at your own pace instead of someone trying to cram 7 games worth of backstory into a 12 minute video. That’s like trying getting a bachelors degree in a month. Lol
I played every little piece of the franchise on about 5 different platforms and the story really is a bit confusing, but the explaination in this video here isn´t really good. I suggest to just google the chronological order of the franchise and play it that way. I tell you, you will not regret it. One of the best videogame series ever made. If not even the best. Get the Legacy Edition and start to play one of the biggest masterpieces ever made in videogame history.

its does because mgs5 leads miller down the path he goes down and explains why he breaks off from big boss. and the fact that this boss is the boss you fight in the original ness games, its still good to go over what he did.
venom accomplished more than big boss ever did really. and its hinted and theorized that millers genes went into liquid too. and there is the huey stuff, all the advancements in metal gears and such. ...dude there is a lot that this game adds to the lore.
the title is "metal gear in 12 minutes", not "the story of the big boss, the original big boss, in 12 minutes".
