1985 Lamborghini Countach 5000QV - Episode 008

- Few vehicles scream ‘supercar’ more than the Lamborghini Countach.
For some it’s DiCaprio in the Wolf of Wall Street. For Dave it’s the iconic poster car that he woke up to every day of his childhood.
Benny’s not a fan of it’s spaceship looks and scissor doors but will it’s on-road performance change his mind?
-
It's all about the drive...
And, if the journey can be done again, but faster - then all the better.

You asked, we delivered - The Testarossa is LIVE!
I don't care if you're a car guy or not, everyone's gotta agree that the Countach has a stunning presence to it. Even in 2021 this car will drop more jaws then anything else on the road. Timeless masterpiece
💯💯. Doug Demuro said when he drove one he’s never ever had more attention.
I drove a 1983 5000s 2 valve. It was wonderful. Clutch was fine but steering it under 30 was super tough. It lightened up nicely after that. Thanks Joe, I'll never forget it.
With no power steering, the faster you go the easier it is to steer. Same with my '81 Porsche 928 Euro S.
The Countach been always my dream car, at will still my dream car for ever. I hope I can sit on one before I die, and at least drive it for one day.
As an native Aussie now living in Europe this makes me miss home !
That's my poster car, great episode, good work gents!
Thanks, more coming soon! Keep an eye out for our stories playlists and new full episodes :)
cool fact they actually made the rear wing thinner and less straked than the earlier countaches, hard to notice unless they are side by side
Soooooo good, nothing beats a Countach. 👍👍👍
the nicest car ever
Great show guys, love the discussion between you. The car is iconic . wonderful video work and editing ,congratulations
Thanks Andrew we appreciate your support. Don't forget to like and subscribe! :)
Thank you for rewiewing THE most groundbreaking cars of all time( all farts included). GANDINI❤️🇮🇹 is the best painter ever.
This is an masterpiece of art beautiful, brutal still superfast and this design Are 50 yeares
To Watch this is like being in the materialistic heaven, thank you !
I am still saving for this car ❤️
The coolest and best looking sports car of all time. Such a pity the 'new version' doesn't look much like it - which should have been the whole point!
I would love to hear more of the exhaust sound that car makes!
The Triumph Dolomite Sprint had 4 valves per cylinder and carburettors.
Thank you sir!
@@TheMotoristsTV And so did the Ballot 2LS ;)
A whole lot of Alfas and Fiats did, too.
Great video! Open minds lead to the truth about the Countach. It’s incredible to drive.
Awesome!..I'm pretty sure I saw this car driving down Plenty Rd, Bundoora (suburb in Melbourne, Victoria) a few months back (outside RMIT), When it drove past I completely lost it, my kids were wondering why their dad completely lost it! This is the greatest of the the great!
😂 I know that feeling. I spent a year in Australia and seen a MCLaren F1 in Melbourne and chased it up the road on foot. My missus was so proud 🤔
I use to live right next to there in Bundoora, in the 80’s I lose it too when I see a countach as well as I first saw cannonball run growing up in Bundoora.
Not often you see US spec rear bumper on RHD. Much prefer the rear lights fully visible! . Awesome video guys .
Thanks! 👍
Hits every trope of a Countach review - every kid had this poster, should you meet your heroes, and you have to man handle it. Don't get me wrong, always fun to see a nice vid of the Countach, but it seems like everything that needs to be said of the car has already been said.
Thanks Alan, all feedback is appreciated. You might enjoy our 'stories' playlists - They go a bit more in depth than we can do with a full episode. Also check out themotorists.com.au - The newsletter releases have more in depth video and written content for enthusiasts such as yourself.
,Enzo left him waiting for 45 minutes the last time Ferruccio visited to complain and Enzo said he wanted no advice from a maker of Tractors.. The irony was that Lamborghini's Tractor Clutches were stronger than what Ferrari were currently using at the time and I'm pretty sure Lamborghini's first car the 350GTV had a Tractor Clutch and so did many models after.
Had the poster, now I’m building it and can’t weight to finish it and drive it 👍
The impact that the Countach made cannot be matched by any Ferrari car, go ahead, think, the design influence, the mystique, desirability, name it, yes it has its shortcomings and imperfections but which car doesnt.
great episode guys, totally love cars that totally engage the senses
Bloody marvellous review gents
at 8:04 .... "It's probably the only car that had this engine/gear-box layout" ...
Allow me to introduce you to the original Mini.
yes he did Marcelo Gandini designed one of the Dinos i think by memory Ferrari Dino 308
Correct! He did design the Ferrari Dino 308 at Bertone:)
Yes the countach is a Beautiful car.the only time I saw one was when I was 8-9 years old at a car show. I remember it had velvet ropes around it and it was black with white or cream colored leather seats. Had no idea what it was. But if I had to choose between two cars of that particular period I’d probably choose a Testarossa. It’s got the power but looks better in my opinion. And you’d probably could drive it across the country if you’d wanted too.. and hour in the countach is like going to the gym and it’s not comfortable. But I can appreciate it for what it is and isn’t. Diablo changed all that silly stuff eventually. I do remember my neighbor having this car on his was. White with white wheels and giant wing.
New subscriber/old school car guy here and I have to say that I'm loving your channel and reviews. The only thing that I would recommend & like to see are longer videos that are more in depth. Otherwise, Bravo Gentlemen! 👏
Thanks for the sub! We have new content coming soon featuring a VERY special guest.
Superb once again.
Thanks Wes, we do out best ;) If you are enjoying the content, spread the word!
@@TheMotoristsTV mate I'm sharing it left right and centre, never you mind.
New Sub from Montreal, Canada. Great videography, and interesting comments from both sides. What's not to like about two Aussies driving a lambo!?!
Thanks for the support!
Big question - Did Dave's poster have a scantily clad female attached, or was his adoration purely for the car? Another great episode Gents.
As Dave would say - It's what's under the bonnet that counts ;)
His question about 4 valve engines with carbs, somewhat laughable if you consider motorcycles!
Enjoyed and subscribed!
im glad I found this channel. really good stuff
Welcome aboard!
Afortunados de poder estar siquiera cerca de ese ejemplar, saludos!
Looks like you were driving down the road to Arthur's Seat. Would love to know how this thing handled those hairpins! I've descended down there on a road bike and those hairpins are hair raising
Ferrari did have one Bertone design model GT4 penned by yes Marcello Gandini. Similar to the Urraca
Love your laidback videos. I’m interested in your feedback on a 911 Porsche 997 Turbo manual. The last of the Mezga engines.
Thanks Werner, your support means a lot. A great recommendation for sure. Don't forget to like and subscribe! :)
Great overview guys. Agree. Would be great if you can drive a Testarossa next to compare. Keep up the awesome content 👍🏻
Thanks Jonathan we appreciate your support! Please share with your friends :) The Testarossa is definitely on the list!

@@TheMotoristsTV yes perfect comparison! Agree with Benny & Dave. But if pushed I’ll take the TR ❤️
Back to the Future
What if lamborghini countach 1985 would look like as a Time Machine?
Is there a significant difference between left hand and right hand drive versions, it seems almost every LHD video review screams they’re uncomfortable, people can’t fit into them, the clutch is monumentally heavy, gear changes are stiff.... yada yada yada, yet the RHD reviews are its a dream to drive, it’s joyful
@DeadlyButSilent2 there are a few misnomers about the Countach though, the steering column as demonstrated by Valentino Balboni is actually adjustable for height and reach, it just requires a spanner 🔧 and a second person to tighten the bolts while the driver holds the wheel in the desired position and the second was there actually where different options for the drivers seat rails depending upon the height of the owner/driver, a few customers but not many ordered a third seat in order to have swappable options depending upon the driver, it had shallower rails to allow for a driver of 6ft or slightly more to be comfortable in the car... the one issue I’d heard of but no one ever definitively answered (partly I suppose because there are no physical present LHD vs RHD or low body vs non later reviews of the cars on line, a 4 car comparison). But was concerning the alignment and positions of the clutch pedal, on right hand drive cars is it inline with the drivers hip so offers a comfortable if firm action, but on the left hand drive cars because of the wheel well is the clutch pedal positioned past the centre line of a persons hips thus with extensive pressing on the clutch pedal does it cause pain in the left hip, I’d heard it does but those same people have never driven a RHD car. It’s an issue the right hand drive models wouldn’t suffer from, that’s principally what I was hoping would be answered. I’ve had the fortunate circumstance to drive every Lamborghini since the Diablo through to almost the current models but admittedly none of them in a manner they deserve and mostly just town and short runs but I’ve never even sat in a Countach 😢 it’s the one that alludes me and so far got away
@@firstnamesecondname5341 if you seen Balboni use a spanner in a video, that doesn't mean all Countach are like that.
Interesting to see what Lambo used from the "parts bin" when making the Countach. Column stalks for horn/wipers etc are Lucas leftovers from the Triumph TR7/8 model and front indicator park lights are Carello and identical to the Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS series. However the Countach is still pure automotive porn and a sex symbol in 2021!
Please drive a 308 and a 288 GTO

The backend lights looks terrible! US customs ruined the iconic look!
De acuerdo completamente!
I'm seriously considering purchasing a Countach with my inheritance even though I'd never be able to afford to drive it.
LAMBORGINI NEDÉDS TO MAKE THE CONTACH AGAIN WITH SAME ENGINE WITH NEWEST FORMULA1 ENGINE TECH NEWSET F1 GEARBOX & NEWEST FORMULA1 SUSPENSTION TECH & H -GEAR BOX AND WORKING THE LAMBORGINI -CONTACH IN A WINDTUNNEL
I hate the wing!
🤣
earlier one was even bigger, there were two different rear wings. a fact MANY people dont know....autoart seemed to get it right tho!
C’mon, just look at the Countach! And do you really think she give a damn about racing pedigree? 😀
these guys sound kiwi?
🤣
Am always amused by people oblivious to how things are pronounced. It’s “countash”, not “countack”. Everyone seems to know that except this guy.
🤣🤣
I thought this car had very good aerodynamics. Why didn’t it???
Countach has s**t aerodynamics because it was designed for posers to pose in it and Lamborghini aren’t capable of building a proper car.
- Benny ;)
I like this without the crazy Side strakes.
I would love to own a Lamborghini.
highbody... not that good looking
ferrari people are annoying..because they are jealous
Did the Owner (with Obviously More Money Than Brains) notice that @3:02 You CRUNCHED Second Gear?
Back in the mid eighties I bought a kuntash 5000 S from Beverly Hills motor car company it was the biggest piece of c*** I ever had in my life wife you couldn't see out of it the petals were so close together you would hit the brake and the gas pedal at the same time the car is horrific it's not worth a dollar I sold it after 2 weeks of having it.. In this place I bought a Mercedes AMGY the wide body which was the greatest car that I had in that era they were incredible lamborghini even today is pure c*** for the money you have to spend you get nothing in return you get no performance and they're even worse than they were in the eighties.. I now have still several dozen cars but the greatest car that I've ever owned is my Nissan GTR built to 1400 horsepower there is nothing on the road including these junk klamborghini's Ferrari's and any Porsche nothing touches the GTR best investment I ever made at a 3rd of the cost of these other junk shit cars....
I guess you forgot that this is a vehicle design from over 50 years ago. Try a Mercedes from 1971 or even a Datsun from the same era. You are forgetting that this was the best technology of the time. You're nothing but a fool to think any different and a bigger fool to not test drive the car before you bought it. I also doubt you'd even have the capacity to even check the oil on the car. I am glad for one thing though, that the Countach you sold is now with a deserving owner.
That's what Hyundai says "not every car can have a racing pedigree" 🙄.
The Countach is an iconic, 'interesting' car... I was 16.5 years old in 1985 and it has always been the Ferrari BB512i for me. When it morphed into the states friendly Testarossa it put me to sleep (even with Miami Vice propping it up) 🥱.
