13:22 I've got an update on this with the MSI GF63. MSI advised me that this can happen if the rear corner screw is not in. After checking my laptop, the screw was in and it appeared to be all the way, however it was about one full 360 degree rotation from being tight. After tightening the screw, this no longer happens.

Thanks for 2022 reviews Jarrod! I watched a ton of your videos making up mind on a laptop around April - June this year as I wasn't in a huge rush to purchase. Was sorely tempted by the Legion 16:10 QHD models for the screen primarily but the availability in Australia sucked even went so far as to get in touch with Lenovo business team. The Asus TUF A15 came just in time as I was desperate to upgrade by that point and I've been very pleased with battery life for work purposes and the graphics when gaming with the RTX 3070 (non-Ti) model, thanks for funding that review model out of your own pocket. It's annoying the Asus TUF QHD model wasn't readily available in Australia either but definitely no regrets here. All the best for the Holiday Season.

As an ex owner of two Lenovo laptops I'll agree that they offer great value but one thing that stood out in both were temperatures. As I owned two MSI before them I was used to laptops getting insanely hot. Now that I switched to Asus ROG I'm blown away how bad MSI and Lenovo cooling systems were. Also ask any laptop repair shop how many Lenovo Legions they get - spoiler: a lot.

Great round up. I was glad to see the Legion 5i pro on the best list as I bought the 3070 ti model on black Friday! It wasn't the absolute best deal, but learning how much better the graphics card was from previous comparison videos here, and the screen for the work I want to do, informed my decision. I have to say, researching the best laptops to get without knowing anything about CPUs, GPUs, ram types, etc etc, is f***ng painful! Fortunately I learnt lots from the comparison videos here (thanks!) and component comparison tests online, so it's totally doable for the uninformed to get a good deal!

One thing i apreciate from Acer this year is that they cleaned up alot of their laptop design and make them look less gamery. Like the Nitro 5 and the Helios which i always been a fan of how they look from the front but absolutely hated the back panel design, i mean it still look gamery but you can bring them to a work place without your boss thinking you play Valorant all day. I’m a student and I picked up a Zephyrus G15 for myself this year cause of the portability and other fantastic reviews I’ve heard. I highly recommend this if you are a student looking for portability but also want a bit larger screen. Battery life is also pretty and lasts me long enough. My only gripe is that with my model I recently found a dead pixel but it is barely even noticeable and I also have a warranty so it’ll be alright to replace. Other than that I have no complaints!

Sure, Nvidia has CUDA & DLSS, but FSR is pretty much equivalent (except in Control, SOTTR, & Watch Dogs Legion, but that's the game developers' fault) and for just gaming without ray tracing, the AMD Radeon 6700M is close to an Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti or sometimes slightly ahead.

About a month ago after long research and watching tons of videos on Jarrod's and other channels, reading several in-depth reviews, I have decided to go with the Legion 7i - model with 12800xh CPU, 32GB RAM and 3070 Ti - I just don't think that extra performance of 12900hx and 3080 Ti worth 1000 EUR. I've got it for approximately 2800 EUR and spent some extra on Alienware AW 2721D display (which is honestly stunning!), 2TB Samsung SSD gen 4, Alienware keyboard and mouse + huge SteelSeries mouse pad. My biggest disappointment this year was Alienware x17 R2 - not only it's impossible to buy it officially in many smaller markets in EU, only via some middlemen with their crazy additional price (like +400 EUR), but also the notebook's performance is rather mediocre for that kind of money - especially CPU, which is very important for me as for a software developer (and hence HX processors make sense for me). I've been a big fan of Alienware, but this time I've decided that at least this year they are really behind the competition and thus I have to look elsewhere. After putting everything together - Legion notebook and Alienware perepherals I've had no buyer's remorse and been very happy with the final result🙂 There a couple of things which are not ideal in Legion 7 like lack of Windows Hello, complexity of disassembling (though I've had that iFix it toolset, it was an extreme pain in the butt to put additional SSD into the NB), weird feeling from the keyboard (it's not bad, it's just different and not necessarily better feeling in comparison with Alienware 17 R4 keyboard) - but these are fortunately minor issues I can leave with. It's a shame though that Lenovo doesn't have 17 inch version of these Legion series notebooks with beefier cooling, raised TDP and far-better versatility for some people (albeit with worse portability).

Shame you couldn't get the Legion 7 2022 AMD. I really like it and the $1800 price tag for an AMD Ryzen 6800H and AMD Radeon 6700M, which is in between the RTX 3070 & RTX 3070 Ti in terms of raw gaming performance. I haven't found a game that didn't hit 60 fps at maximum settings without ray tracing on my Legion 7, even at 2560x1600.

Imo, the Zephyrus G14 Ryzen 7 or 9, RX6700s or RX 6800s, is the best/dream laptop for me, because it is lot less gamer-y looking that everything, and it has great specs, also an all AMD system is best for a good Linux experience which I strive for.

Hi Jarrod , not sure if you can still read this comment. I am thinking to purchase A15 ASUS TUF Gaming Notebook 15.6" FHD AMD Ryzen 7 6800H GeForce RTX 3070 16GB DDR5 512GB SSD Windows 11 Home ,
The only hesitation point for me is just it seems that the CPU temperature is extremely high for this laptop , it's like ~70 when just rest .
Do you hv any ideas about would it be a big concern or I should check Legion 5 ? (Legion 5 is good but just the price issue looks like A15 is cheaper..)

Brilliant video! Based on your recommendation, i currently have your top 2, a Lenovo legion 7i 2022 (16", i9-12900, RTX3090Ti 16GB, & 32GB DDR5 4800 RAM), and an Acer Helios 300 2022 (17", i7-12700, RTX3079Ti 8GB, 16GB DDR5 RAM). The former is £2,800 in the UK with the latter at £1,600. I have just over a week to decide which to keep, with 1 option being to upgrade the Acer to 64GB for about £200. I mostly play RPGs like New World & strategy games like Valheim. Originally I was planning on the Acer then building myself a top of the range desktop next year when the RTX4090Ti & AMD 7000 3D VCACHE CPUs come out. But I'm contemplating keeping the Lenovo & waiting on the RTX5000 series to setup for true 8K gaming. Any advice please? I currently have an LG C2 48" OLED TV for gaming on.

Check and compare thermals and cooling. Better the temperatures, good it is.
For a laptop, I personally recomend nothing more than i7-12700, RTX3070Ti. Anything more does not add significant much other than heat and causes breaking down of components in long run and mind you- low battery power.
i9 is not worth having unless your workload demands extra cache and cores.
Jarodds already made clear in many videos the most person can go is 3070TI in a laptop ( restricted cooling)
For really to take benefits, need great cooling and larger 17.3 inch machines for 3080
Just to add: 4080 and 13th gen are even power hungry and Alienware is teasing 18inch because no sense in putting those in 16 inch .

Dear Jarrods quick question: when playing at 1440p, would a 3080 or 3080ti be seriously bottlenecked by a 5900hx?
Just wondering if i should regret not buying that Nitro 5 with 5900HX, 3080, 32gb ddr4 3200 for 1500€ to wait for some laptop deals with better cpus and DDR5.
