My Kosei wheels have rare center caps that essentially no longer exist on the internet and the only site I've found claiming to have them wants $90 a piece if I remember right. 3D printing some is def in my future.

The awesomeness of this is, my first 3D printer ever is showing up today.

I wonder how hard it would be to 3D print a new lens for the JHP dash gauges... there are no new replacements to be had anywhere. They scratch very easily and look bad after a while.

Clear stuff never really comes out nice enough to see through from what I've seen. If the lens is flat, it would probably be easier to make it out of acrylic sheet or something.

@@CarsSimplified It is curved in spots. Doesn't look too difficult, but then again, I am by no means very knowledgeable of 3D printing. I could send you a picture of it if you want to see it.

I looked it up before replying but I didn't get a close-up image of the lens itself. Still, the clearest 3D printed stuff I've seen on home printers would be pretty tough to read through.
For a while I was getting ads for some company that was 3D printing custom lenses, but I believe it was a special filament, a finishing process, and possibly even a post-print treatment of some kind. The technology is getting there!

@@CarsSimplified Interesting... I might look into a company doing it down the road.
