    ►bit.ly/2tNp3fO
    We're so stoked to be partnering with Yamaha to give you the world premiere of their latest line of drums - the Yamaha Tour Customs!
    Yamaha's main goal in creating this new line was to make something that fits drummer's financial situations, but also has that exceptional sound and quality they're best known for. You could call these drums the simplified version of their original Absolute series. They're made of 100% maple and loaded with tone and attack. They also include their heavy 2.3mm inverse Dyna Hoops!
    Dafnis Prieto just so happened to be coming through Drumeo when this kit arrived, and we couldn't have thought of a better person to show these off. We're just going to let these drums speak for themselves.

    Wow, someone that actually knows how to tune drums to musical notes. Maybe whomever tuned that kit should do a video explaining their tuning methodology. THUMBS UP on this one.

    • @jrfrondelli2023
      @jrfrondelli2023 Před rokem +1

      Yeah, usually they demo kits tuned loose as goose-shit, and they ALL have the same character, no matter who makes them.

    • @Oneness100
      @Oneness100 Před rokem +1

      @@jrfrondelli2023 I have been checking out different kits on a more serious level starting back in the 70's. I haven't been in a position to check out every shell, hoop, heads, etc. etc.
      I was taught by my second teacher, whom was friends with practically all of the major jazz drummers the kind of tuning most of them used. My teacher studied from Alan Dawson, and was always hanging around pretty much all of the great Jazz drummers in the world and he would actually help roadie for a lot of them when they came into town setting up and tearing down their gear.
      They tuned the drums high compared to the rock drummers use.

    • @Oneness100
      @Oneness100 Před rokem +1

      @fartpoobox ohyeah I studied from one drum instructor that told me to tune the drums to a certain melody which was the bugle call at horse racing. czcams.com/video/soD-YBsB6C8/video.html
      I try to tune the drums to a relative pitch in between each drum.
      If you look at Terry Bozzio, he's VERY specific about how he tunes his drums to a specific MUSICAL note.

    • @WVsonofliberty
      @WVsonofliberty Před rokem

      The shells themselves do have frequencies. Take a shell without any heads, hold it up by one finger on the inside towards the middle, and tap it on the outside. With the different shells, you’ll hear different pitches. That pitch is what you want to go for when tuning the heads. This allows the shells and the heads to resonate harmoniously, and you don’t get those out of pitch overtones.

    • @Oneness100
      @Oneness100 Před rokem

      @@WVsonofliberty Thanks for the info, but I already know all of that. I was just pleased to hear someone that actually knows how to tune a set, because I have seen countless videos of drums that honestly sound like crap and very unmusical.

      Hi Desal, the Maple shells of our new Tour Custom are a.) now American Maple and b.) thinner than the plys of our previous series. This was a request from our customers and artists, The newly designed Dyna Hoop has an inversed shape making it more stick-friendly and is also heavier than before, which controls the natural overtones inherent to all-maple drums and focuses on the fundamental tone of the shell. We did not want to change the features that made up the success of the previous series and at the same time, bring new details, that drummers of today have been asking for.

    Sound is important for Yamaha, and they created drumkit with only 22x16 kick and 10x7 and 12x8 toms, without options with deeper shells. This is not sound quality, this is only low price. Less wood, less material, less money. I would buy this kit now if they have options with at least 22x18 kick and 10x8, 12x9 toms. This is bad sound. :( In 20 years we will have only drumheads, because sound quality is important for manufacturers!!!

The key bolts are also casted very poorly. - The bolt heads aren't even in line with rest of the bolt shaft. They are out of round. It really pains me to say, (since iv been a Yamaha guy for 30 years, that the new tour custom ( made in a China) isn't worth the cardboard it comes in. Someone in Yamaha better get this figured out.
