Bridgework should have been released on CD long ago. Respect to the great Billy Higgins.

The master Billy Higgins, both a master drummer and a master human being.
I was blessed with his presence on my record in 1986. Billy played from a sense of joy.

Brother 'Abdullah Kareem (Billy Higgins) used to share his travel stories with me when I was new to Islam as he did here. Raheema'Allah-ameen

Because I love music and great people such as Billy Higgins, who contributed so much to it. And where one choses to live has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Billy's album Soweto, is in my lifelong playlist... he's just one of those musicians that work in an honest, humble and passionate manner that it translated to his music.

What a great and a humble man ! No wonder everybody loved Billy Higgins. And how beautifully he spoke of his long-time partner Cedar Walton. After so many years together not many people have a lot of good things to say about each other.

I like Billy's explanation of why he remained "Billy" (and am glad he did). His refutation of pride--of those who take a "more pious than thou" attitude in any religion--is right on. Of all the records he made, the one that stands out for me is "Glass Bead Games." Clifford Jordan reveals his greatness, and Bill Lee (Spike's dad) is so good you wonder if there's a clear-cut genius between father and son. But it's the magic of the whole, sparked by Billy's flame, that's eternal.

Someone should write Billy´s story, the most versatile drummer in jazz history. His story should be told!!!

  •  Před 15 lety

the legacy of his kind heart and generous nature has left its footprint on the hearts and minds of people that knew him. but thats not really good writing to say that he left a footprint on anyones heart.. but it just came out like that. i loooove his music!

Seeing him play in person was like watching an angel or something. Difficult to explain any other way.
