I knew that Reo Speedwagon was very popular at one time, but I never knew that one of their albums sold ten million copies which means they have a Diamond album. I do remember hearing that Guns N Roses album Appetite For Destruction is the best selling debut album surpassing Boston's debut album.

    - ZZ top and the Black Crowes are closer to southern rock
    - Most successful bands in the 60s and 70s rarely have an album above 2 million.
    - Kiss Alive has never received it's platinum certification, and if counted as Two would be about 4-6 million.

Alice In Chains and Soundgarden considered grunge\heavy metal too, but I Believe Nirvana is much weaker even if had better sales. Though you can see my comment to see that this video is partially wrong because of it is "100" and consists of AC\DC and Aerosmith mostly. I didn't seen a lot of things here, and I Believe that Stone Temple Pilots (also a grunge band) must be here.

    • @themetalcatacombs3790

@@aidenswords5809 Thrash Metal also was influenced by punk - Metallica is here (strangely, not any other thrash bands from Big 4). AC\DC is a bit punky - 30% are AC\DC releases. Alice In Chains and Soundgarden are on the list, both of them considered to be grunge too. Nirvana too heavy for Rock, too clunky for Heavy metal. Just for check - grunge can be called a combination of heavy metal and punk.

  • @themetalcatacombs3790
    @themetalcatacombs3790 Před 3 lety +1

Redacted: You better do separate videos for Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Alternative Metal (yeah, that's differs from classic heavy metal stuff and cannot be put in the same place - grunge, industrial, nu, that kinda stuff is not literally heavy metal), and not to dance around "cool numbers" like 100 or 50, and do have count all the albums that have got at least one million - that would be more clear and justified. I cannot accept the list where all the justy Led Zeppelin placements combined with having Godsmack and Nine Inch Nails and no Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath in the list, completely made of Aerosmith, Guns N Roses and AC\DC. All the next comment in its raw format when I wrote it right after watching video, danger, toxic waste.
No Thrash Metal at all - Metallica doesn't count. You better kick off the Garage Inc. It is sold well but it is not an original work of band, it is a cover compilation.
No Death Metal being really well-sold in 1990-s especially Cannibal Corpse "The Bleeding".
A lot of Glam (and no Kiss) and overall known releases...
But where's all the nicest heavy metal stuff like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath (Paranoid only?), Judas Priest (didn't seen one), Motorhead - they did hit the peaks too
Where's the f*ck is Dream Theater's "Images and Words" or "Awake"?
Thank god you did not put "Nevermind" and did put "Dirt" instead. But if there's were Korn and Disturbed, no Slipknot or System Of A Down with having Evanescence (that only had ONE metal album for the whole time of existing)? If you put a lot of alternative stuff in here - no Rammstein being known worldwide and having all albums sold like a million time once on reissue. No Marilyn Manson as well.
No Pantera. No Kiss (Pantera's favourite band). No Deep Purple (I didn't seen one).
There's Jimi Hendrix - then where are The Doors with the self-titled debut and "Strange Days" that considered to be the same genre with Hendrix and being the most selling ones across the USA.
Do NOT ever make a video with Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Combined. Hard Rock is Hard Rock. That means that AC\DC cannot stand between metal releases like Metallica or Iron Maiden. Alternatvie metal - all of them, like grunge, industrial, nu - never stands with classic of heavy and extreme metal.
Sorry for negative review - this is the way it is.

@@clamjammer5501 AC\DC didn't pissed me off, I actually enjoy that band, but when making such lists it is much better to only put one most selling work of the band and not all of it's commercially successful records. Because of that a lot of unique and good bands wouldn't be covered in the video. It is just if i put there every Queen and Abba album, and it would have been half of the list which is not justifiable in any way.
