My First Field Duck Hunt! | Minnesota Duck Hunting 2022 (Opening Day)

- I'm back up in Minnesota and we're kicking off the 2022 regular season with some duck hunting in a field that is thick with mallards, wood ducks, and geese! I was planning on taking the kayak out to some public land but ended up getting a last minute invite from my buddy Jordan to join him for opening day in an area that he has been duck and goose hunting since he was a kid. We were able to find and get permission on a huge feed and come morning the action was fast and furious with ducks and geese decoying in tight. Hope you enjoy!

@@HokeOutdoors that made me laugh because gadwalls are kinda looked down upon where I hunt. Not many people consider them a trophy duck. Guess it's all in the perspective.

That's the truth! I still think a marsh or swamp hunt is my favorite style but fields are tons of fun and not quite the hassle

Thanks brother! I'm using two GoPro Hero 10s for most of the footage on these hunts. They're not particularly cheap but they're a solid option that won't break the bank

I really enjoy your videos, I live and hunt in California, when I don't have a reservation at one of our state or federal wildlife areas, I take my kayak out behind my house, while that may not sound very unusual, let tell you where I live. Lol.. I live right in the hart of Silicone Valley, where all of the major hitek companies live. I have had some of the best hunts of my life out there. I have been a waterfowl hunter for most of my life, and i just turned 59 years old. I would really like to know what camera brand /model ,it is that you use on your shotgun? I would love to video some of my hunts , out of my kayak. If your ever on the west coast, in California, hit me up, I have an extra kayak, and would be happy to take you on one of the best duckhunts you will ever have. Limits of mallards, cinnamon teal, and greenwing teal , aswell as honkers (canada geese) and a few mixed species of ducks. Our season is about to start this Saturday and it goes for 100 days. Have you ever used a duck spinner while goose hunting a field just to add motion ? Thinking of trying it and don't know if it will work
Most the time geese don’t seem to like the spinner

Why i dont hunt in groups 3 ducks come in and everyone jumps up and unloads their guns. Saw more than afew times you up ready to shoot then 2 other guys jump up and shoot before you pull the trigger. Not my type of hunting i like solo or 2. Someone needs to call the shots in the group dont let everyone just blast away.
I felt like the communication was pretty solid between everyone given how large the group was. That said, big groups definitely aren't my preferred style of hunting in general
@@HokeOutdoors ya i noticed in alot of your other videos you normally hunt with like 2 others. You ever make it over to Montana let me know i have private land on the sun river we destroy ducks geese and pheasants all in one day. Ill limit out on ducks and geese then go walk the fields and limit out on pheasants and do it all over again the next day and the next day.

How many hens would you consider to be acceptable??
Last time I checked, hens were legal too. Don't bash a fellow hunter for doing something differently than you would as long as it's legal.
