Fun Fact!
You weren't too far off with the spinning around with greatswords. Although you wouldn't just spin around, they would be used in big flowing motions around you, so you can keep people away from you, and you use the momentum of the sword in a continuous swing, as that is easier than swinging and stopping it every time. Also those swords aren't as heavy as you'd expect, ranging from between 2-4kg/4,4-8,8lbs for the battle usable ones. And I mean 4kg isn't nothing for a 2m long piece of metal, but 4kg was the upper range for them, and they were balanced so that it's easier to wield.
also u can hold the blade with one hand half way up the sword for more control, it's called half sword stance it's more like a spear with that stance
All I'm hear from this - dying screams of stupid posers with 2m long pieces of metal dying from literally anything else ranging from arrow to dagger. This is even more stillborn than akimbo wielding.
The fact that this channel worked out could not have happened to a nicer group of people. I know they like to play off that they're assholes or toxic but this podcast does give a peek at their real lives and I love it. I can only hope for the best for these people.

Thanks for sharing your stories. I think talking about your journeys can help people on so many levels. Also Cath and Ellis - thank you for sharing your story, especially with mental health. For too long people made it “weird” to talk about this. We need more of this and we need people to start treating this the Sam way as any other physical illness.

Both you and Ellis have stayed so strong through that hellfire, my heart goes out to the both of you. Didnt like the idea of college so i started applying for jobs a year before GCSE's
177 aplications, 3 interviews. I started workin at royal mail 2 weeks after finnishing GCSE's
Been a year since then. Not bad so far
Thank you Jake, Gabby, Ellis, Cath and Alex. As a person who just graduated and is wanting to get into the employed seen, this helped me mentally to recoup myself and give an insight on reality on job seeking.
I am nervous in looking for a job for me, I'm hopeful but there is an underlying fear under everything.
Been here since the start of the pandemic and you guys have been a mainstay in my life ever since.
I know soon I will have to go out in the world to look for my path, but now I at least I know there is a chance for a good destination.
I guess I'll leave this here so in the future I'll come back here (maybe) and tell you anything new in life.
I give my sincere love to you guys for everything, that you have brought into my life. The laughs from the vids, the insight into actual interesting things from Ellis, the chaos that is Gabby, the bundle of personality that made me look at myself in a newer lite that is Cath, the cursed but oh so relatable sense of everything in life that is Alex, and finally Jake with his innocence and simple but bright personality.

Honestly this was a really nice episode. As someone who often has existential crises and even panic attacks because I'm not where I thought I would be in life despite being only 23, it helped calm me down and I'll likely revisit this in the future for when I need grounding 😊
Towards the end of my years in school (year 11-12), I went to a special needs school. It was when fidget spinners became popular, they got banned not long after in my school because kids were figuring out how to remove the ball bearings and threw them at other students and stuff 😅

Hey WPE, I'm probably not early enough for ya'll to see this, but if you do I just wanted to thank you for all the laughs, but in particular the timing of this podcast topic as it was exactly what I needed to hear rn. My life has been rather shit for a while, probably somewhere between Cath and Gabby's stories with the soul destroying temp jobs of Ellis and Jake, leaving me with the internal attitude of Alex (whom ik is a much nicer person in actuality than many jokes would suggest haha). As a long time fan I was aware you'd all been through some shit, but I've heard so many people elude to difficult times only to find out they had a 'Woe is Me' attitude and comparably easy lives, so I was never sure how much stock to put in this (other than with Cath who has been very open with her medical difficulties). Hearing more of the story and that you've all persevered through shitty times and 'failure' that was out of your control has been inspiring, and comforting in the sense that you share that similar life perspective.
I'm currently in the middle of balancing a bunch of health, family and financial stuff in order to have a proper second run at uni, and listening to this podcast has truly lessened the feeling that the prior years of struggle were just wasted, knowing that there are many others who also haven't had it easy but got there in the end, making the 'wasted' time count in your overall story. Keep being you!
I share your viewpoint and you worded it so well. Comfort is the best description, really, for explaining WPE's effect on me. I wish you all the needed strength and endurance with getting sorted for your second uni run. I'm about to finish mine after so many years of immense struggle and you can do it, too :)

I remember the old Beyblade show on cartoon network. On a side note, I went to Paris around the time of that show, and bought a couple of beyblades that had sandpaper coated blade parts. So when they clashed, it produced sparks.

I’ve been working at McDonalds for a year now and genuinely really enjoy it! My coworkers are definitely what gets me through the hard days cause we’re very close knit and friendly despite there being around 70 people working there. I keep to the kitchen cause i’m not a people person AT ALL but being on till and at the front is soul-sucking but love me a good burger flip. I worked as a waiter before that and it genuinely made me want to shrivel up into a ball just thinking about it, really don’t know how people do it!

Hearing you guys talk about uni grades the confusion is still the same now, have just finished at 32 6yr open uni course and had to go through so many tabs to access not only title at end but also that is officially a BA Hons degree
to my best understanding its the "dream between life and death" if you're referring to "final fantasy" thematically the crap you have to do spiritually to move on

I will be open here and say that Gab living to meet people's expectations is what I struggle to let go of now, and it is very hard to try and move on from it. I've literally tried to get myself to let it go, and it's a bad feeling 😣
Yeesh, it was really eye opening listening to you guys. To vibe with Alex, I am also currently working a Supermarket, have been for 8 years, and like Gabby, my gaming and, hopefully, a new voice acting hobby (fingers crossed) helped me get through the mental distress my wife and I went through losing our son.
In other words, ima keep going. Setbacks and struggles are part of life, but if you keep going and persist, hopefully you can come out to a place where you can find happiness.
My school was about to ban friendship bracelets the day me and some other buddies bought a bunch of it and started giving away to the "excluded kids" to match our own. After that everyone simply started trading them around like we were a huge group. It was really cool actually

When I did my Degree BSC in Computing, we got the "with hons" for completing the Dissertation, which was optional but worth 2 modules, and you needed 8 modules for your final year. You got a Masters for coming back for an additional study after completing the BSC with Hons. but as Ellis said, 1st, 2:1, 2:2, 3rd etc is just the grade. However while you don't need to say the grade a lot of employers will put "requires 2:1 in BSC Computer Science or equivalent" as their requirement.
So I'm looking forward to finish my study and getting out of the shithole that I'm stuck in for now. But now I hear all of your stories, shit's probably gonna be worse for a few years after that. Which I'm conscious about, but I'm in denial or I wouldn't be able to keep going

When talking about polytechnics, its not the whole UK, northern ireland still have them and we call them techs
Regarding weaponry like the claymore, you make large diagonal "slices", entry from the shoulder area usually close to the collar bone and your exit point is somewhere around the hip, generally above it.
It's a weapon that doesn't so much cut as it cleaves.
When engaging more than one opponent you tend toward flowing strikes, like spinning the weapon around you to keep them back until you have an opening for a killing blow, using the momentum you build with the weapon to both keep it moving and deliver a strike when the time comes for it.
While they are heavy weapons, it's not as heavy as you'd otherwise think. the long groove you see in both sides of a claymore is there to reduce it's weight without significantly compromising the weapons integrity.
Attempting to hold one at arms length would tire your muscles very quickly, thus you do not wield the weapon like you would a smaller sword.
Strength is a part of it but technique matters more than raw power, so contrary to what you might reckon about your own abilities, I reckon each one of you could wield a claymore to varying degrees of efficacy.
There's also half swording (Da ken if that's the exact term but it's near enough fae a mental picture), where either part of the blade isn't actually sharp or you're just using a gauntleted hand to hold part of the blade, this brings the used length down, allowing it to function better in closed spaces and enable the use of thrusting attacks when needed.
Proper technique allows you to be fully effective even when outnumbered, engaged in a closed space or when an opponent manages to close the gap with you.

It's kind of scary how common it is to get depressed after finishing uni. I got done with my bachelors this year and was going to go straight into masters but I just can't do it >.< I barely learnt anything during the studies, the lecturers were all amateurs with no industry experience, teaching outdated methods. Didn't make any friends whatsoever, everyone seemed really sad and antisocial... anyways, I'm glad I'm not the only one and that there's hope for me c:
