ASMR Whisper: Unboxing New Recording Gear! (Rode NT1-A microphone & Zoom H4n Pro recorder)

- I've been hinting at a surprise for the past week or so, and here it is: a total overhaul of my audio recording setup! The channel turned four last weekend, and I wanted to do something special for you guys to mark the occasion. In this whispered video I unbox a Rode NT1-A studio microphone package and a Zoom H4n Pro recorder. My hope is that this new audio hardware will improve the quality of my content, and help bring you guys even more relaxation and tingles. You'll be able to hear the new setup in action in a video coming out tomorrow! Thanks for four amazing years, and I hope you enjoy this unboxing :)

---- What's ASMR, and why am I whispering? ----
I whisper in my videos because they're intended to trigger a sensation called ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response). ASMR is a specific feeling that some people experience when they hear certain soft sounds, like whispering and tapping, or see certain visuals, like slow hand motions. It's often described as a pleasant tingling in the head and neck, accompanied by a sense of calmness and mild euphoria. Many people watch ASMR videos to help them relax, sleep, or reduce anxiety. Btw: I'm glad you didn't get a 3Dio! Although I'm using one myself I don't really like listening to it and I also think it's overused these days!
I briefly considered a 3dio, but I decided against it for the reasons you state. Sometimes I think it sounds really good, but other times I'm bothered by the very slight reverb that the sound seems to have. I know many people prefer the true binaural effect that it provides, but I wanted to go with something a bit different. I don't feel my content would benefit that much from true binaural anyway.

Can u do more asmr battlefront videos? Always like you wandering in the maps and giving a lot of detail as you go throughout the map. it always gives me the most tingles. Also the Star Wars videos that are 20+ minutes long are also my favorite.

Nice! It's worth getting the Pro if you can, because it's got the quieter preamps of the H5, which might be useful for your foley work :)

Hey man, thanks for sticking around! Yes I know Rooster Teeth, although I haven't watched their stuff since the old Red vs. Blue days. I gather that Miles is a writer for RWBY, which I've not seen, but it was very kind of him to give me a shout-out and I'm glad he enjoys my stuff! I should probably check it out.

Hi! Is it possible to use this Rode NT1-A with portable recorders like your zoom h4n pro (those having 48V phantom power)? I mean can I just connect this mic to such recorder directly? Or do I need an audio interface (eg Focusrite Scarlett 2i2) between them?
Do you use a video mic as well on your camera?

What pop filter are you using in this video? I have a blue yeti and I don't know what pop filter I should buy.
I'm using The Pop filter from Blue, but any pop filter would work!
