Hey pilots! Tricker here and I want to welcome you to my channel on combat aviation. I'm a real world pilot in the Airbus 319/320/321 series and I enjoy DCS World, Falcon BMS, Falcon 4.0, IL-2 Sturmovik, X-plane 11, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
If you want to fly WWII aircraft over Normandy and the English Channel, then DCS World WWII is for you and they have plenty of aircraft to choose from such as the BF-109, FW-190, Spitfire, P-47 Thunderbolt, and P-51 Mustang. If you enjoy modern aerial combat then you want to focus more on DCS World products such as the F-16, A-10C Warthog, AH-64D Apache, F-15, F-14, JF-17, SU-27, Mirage, Mig-29, F-18 Hornet, Mi-8, Mi-24 Hind, Uh-1 Huey, Ka-50, F-5, Mig-21, AV-8b Harrier, and the F-4 Phantom. Some of the mods that are out there for DCS World are the F-22 Raptor, SU-57, A-4 Skyhawk, Rafale, and Gripen.
I enjoy other games such as Total War, Battlefield, War Thunder, Escape from Tarkov, as well as Squad.

This is an interview with Tempest on his Blue Flash Server with FOX 1’s and 2’s. Thanks for all your support lately!
Great interview Tricker, I love the idea of finding a home for the Fulcrum. I hope ED comes through with the FF module.
MiG-29 on Growling Sidewinder, that brings memories back from a few years ago on Growling pre-Viper, I loved taking the MiG-29 out even though death was assured lol.
I’m sitting back and relaxing… now I listen
Crazy how these guys are so prominent in current sims. Used to fly with them (different squadron) in WW2OL. I don't know how many times Tempest would bounce my ass in a Spit 9 back in the day. Still learning the ropes with DCS (and waiting on my track IR to arrive). Lookin forward to flying with them again!
what was your handle in ww2ol?
Also the head of heatblur (responsible for the viggen and F-14 Tomcat) was a ww2ol vet
Welp, I was looking for exactly this kind of server, enigma style but slightly more modern, and no fox-3s so mirage is usable, will definetely check it out later and perfect timing !
It’s excellent, I’d say Tempest has the best server in DCS.
Great interview. Always interesting hearing different perspectives from different servers.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think the biggest obstacle with comms has everything to do with the different voice options (discord, srs in-game, etc.) combined with a language barrier. For a while their TS3 was a way to go and it seemed a bit more universal. As soon as Discord and SRS came out it hasn't been quite the same. I like the premise of this server.
That’s a great point actually, didn’t think of that.
SRS is so darn easy compared to TS3 because it's automatic! I don't think people understand that, so to them it seems like just another pain in the butt piece of software to wrangle. In reality it only requires a download, install, and configuration based on an easily understandable video.
Discord, yeah, it's easy to fall in the trap of being on a Discord with your friends and kinda ignoring SRS.
Great work and great environment Tempest!
15:40 Too late, ego expansion is a GOOOOOOOOOO!! Love the interviews you do, Tricker, I hope you continue to do them far into the future!
Hahaha good to see you man, I’ll have to watch some of your stuff
@@TrickerDCS sounds good, I have a short n sweet RIO guide playlist, and I also have The RIO Series with 35+ RIO pvp vids you can binge-watch :D
@@Checklist_STT will definitely check out the rio guide asap
Good interview and a great server!
Tricker great interview! I’m hearing people would like the F-14 to also be on the NATO side also, because it is such a favorite module and beast. Maybe Tempest (great server!) will think about adding this…two heads are better than one?! Thanks!
For this mission we currently have the Tomcat will not be available to CDI forces.
Maybe that will change with a new mission/map, but it is available to fly on the server.
Checklist and I have used it to show why the Cat is the Superior option to the eagle

These guys used to do WW2OL?!? I was in a squad back in 2003. Great times in the old 109E on the big Saturday ops! Also back when flight models were simple enough that I could occasionally kick some butt.
What was your handle ?
@@tempest1210 wish I knew which goof ass handle I used then. I was with the 116th, was so cool to have so many people we could have a good ground force plus plenty of 109s and 87s. Even did 111 stuff occasionally.
Now I want to figure out what email I was using then 😆
Best gaming experience of my life to be honest. 2002 or so, tech that gets you worldwide friends you can play a game like that with!?! Literally hundreds on each side on a Saturday, doing your planned operation and then maybe getting the 15 pilots that stick around to pop up north and tip the scale? Oh man. Vidya game nostalgia!
@@tempest1210 just thought... pretty sure I was running "abica" then. Found it in a dictionary when a buddy and I tried to start a little IT gig (we were looking for names starting with "A" and settled on aegis) and said "OK that's handy because nobody else ever used it" 😆
I wonder how many of those guys from 2002 or so are on DCS or IL2? More than a couple I bet.
I’m a bit confused. The goal of the server seems to be to not include the new aircraft and focus on the late Cold War ones. But I’ve tried the server a bit lately and it’s full of F16’s, F18’s with limitations (exactly what the server didn’t want to be according to this interview).
Was it because of too low sever population without those modules? The server only seems to be populated during US prime time.
I guess there's a new version coming out that is going back to the roots of this.
Wait, Jabbers was the lunatic or...? I'm disillusioned if it wasn't Jabbers... Anyway - great interview Tricker and Tempest! Seeing the community continually evolve and create these custom servers, is amazing!
Haha no he wasn’t, he’s the genius behind all things. Appreciate the compliment!
No I'm absolutely a lunatic, ask Wags
Yes jabbers is crazy and no he wasn't the person I was referring to in the comment 😂
@@Jabbers you still flyin DCS? Enjoy some time away? I’d try to avoid the Hoggit levels of negativity brother, that shit ain’t worth it. Enjoy DCS for what it is.
Like so many of the podcasts you've been on, the audio volume is all over the place with some people really quiet but others really loud. The interview (and podcasts) are great, but they're often very difficult to hear without hurting my hearing by cranking up the volume to hear one person, only to be deafened by the next. It's especially bad when I'm trying to listen while driving and having to contend with road noise.
Interesting, I haven’t gotten many complaints so I’ll try harder to get this right. I always normalize the audio and try to get everyone on the same level. Sometimes guests don’t have good microphones so it makes it difficult to normalize. I’ll try harder in the future. Apologies.
@@TrickerDCS dont overthink it lol, but he is significantly quieter than you
18:29 I dont think you can reach mach2 at 50k ft with mirage 2k now. I can only get slightly more than mach 1 with full missile load.
For me I don’t talk on SRS because I don’t know/comprehend BRAs or ATC it’s just intimidating. I have tons of experience in the f-18/16 but I never learned the communication side of things.
It’s all good man, we are friendly! Always fun to talk to new players to come in and join
If I can easily work with BRA calls, you can! It's just "where is the bandit relative to your location" and much simpler for me than a bulls call that requires me to 1) imagine the bandit's location relative to the bullseye and 2) make my own BRA to plot an intercept.
It all breaks down for me once I actually encounter the bandit though 😅
@@josefwitt9772 I can understand BRA’s but it’s just when I’m doing other stuff like cas or evading or seed it just gets to hectic.
A bunch of us were flying helos tonight on the server and just talking like regular dudes (more or less). No one seemed to mind and it was great fun. This is my new favorite server.
In the last month the server become a resort of frustrated redfor 😂. Not that it was intended like so but:
Redfor always has more players
Redfor almost always has a human cgi (that is also quite good)
Redfor has a datalink which somehow works (f18 and f16 doesn’t display much. Sometimes not even allied).
Also there is no “counter play” to the 30s startup of FC3 planes which are the majority of redfor.
Unfortunately from a lovely server to play it becomes just a redfor feeding ego 😂
*gasp*
I thought *I* was Tempest!
There can only be one
@@tempest1210 Dogfight. This is the only way to decide.
Tempest and enigma best servers in DCS MP. Fox3 is super boring. Thanks to him and Enigma to make early and late cold war servers. Best fun in mp dcs in years.
I support Enigma and his effort and support for the server and game in which many mistakes have been made in recent years, and one of them is this f-14, f-16, su-27, su-33 because the planes from the same years were produced from the same era that had the same missiles on them from the 1970s and now the f-15/f-16 have new missiles from the 1990-95 years and the su-27/33 have not been upgraded, it shows that someone is screwing up DCS PROBABLY SHIT FROM SWITZERLAND
R-23, R-24, R-60M, AIM-7F, AIM-9L are from 1970s. Both realistic and balanced.
R-27R, R-73, AIM-7M, AIM-9M are from 1980s Cold War. Both realistic and balanced.
R-27ER and AIM-120A/B are from 1990s post-Cold War. Unbalanced since USSR was no more.
The F-15 doesn't have new missiles, it still only has the AIM-120C-5 as their most advanced missile. However it was unable to employ them past 43-46 miles because its radar couldn't see further which seems pretty unrealistic looking at the radar performance sheets. Now with 2.8 this got changed.
edit: ohh and that thing about Switzerland is wrong af and makes you seem to not know much about DCS and Eagle Dynamics.
DCS has a severe lack of good community servers, there really are not too many to choose from, so much so that I think it's the largest bottleneck keeping this game from growing its playerbase. Any new, different flavor is a huge win
04:30 and that was the end of the best server DCS has ever seen. Take Alpen's work and turn into into il2/warthunder. Thank you.
1:12 I have to disagree. Just like Enigma's there are many players but mainly lonewolves. Teamwork is not really needed as things can be accomplished on your own.
What do you disagree with? That the server is designed with teamwork in mind or that you can do things on your own? Both are true here ...
@@tempest1210 That I can join and get things done on my own. Tricker talks about teamwork as in having a human RIO. that's not teamwork, it doesn't include the whole team just you and your buddy. I use SRS and can hardly find a bunch of players who want to team up fly escort and strike missions together. it's the exact same feeling as on Enigma even worse because in a M2000 I really do everything on my own with no trouble coming my way.
@@nymerie so working together as a crew isn’t teamwork? I’m confused
@@TrickerDCS Fine call it teamwork with your RIO but like I said it's not TEAMwork as in working with other players flying other airframes. That's what I meant. Guys it wasn't meant in a bad way I just want better teamwork that I'm still not getting. You are famous streamers so maybe thats why it's easier for you to find human RIO. anything beyond that is almost not there. No TEAMwork from a bunch of players working together to get things done.
@@nymerie we all want better teamwork and clear communication on the radios, no argument there. I’m not a famous streamer but I do enjoy providing entertainment for everyone. The blue flash discord server has a channel for rio meetups as well.
