‘Do not go gentle into that good night,’ by Dylan Thomas, was dedicated to his father. This poem, like dementia, is associated with old age and death. But the truth is, children get dementia too. 75% are expected only to live to the age of 18.
The parents, the families, the carers, those who love these children with dementia, are raging themselves as they work to find a path forward, and watch their children fade away and dying slowly.
In fact, many conversations we have with families raise fighting.
    Fighting to get a diagnosis.
Fighting for information about their child’s diagnosis.
Fighting to know what support they can get.
    Fighting to access appropriate support.
Fighting to have people understand what their child is going through, what they are going through.
Fighting to get into clinical trials around the world.
Fighting to make more clinical trials happen.
    Fighting to get more awareness.
    Fighting to get more funding.
    The list goes on…
So, we ask you to donate and join us in recognising families’ rage. In raging against the status quo of childhood dementia.
Your support will go directly into changing how the world views, treats and cares for all children with dementia.
In fact this was why Childhood Dementia Initiative was created. We will not accept there are no treatments. Nor will we accept that any child suffers without access to appropriate and equitable support.
